Great Bar Service!
by ProductionCEO at Citysearch
Been going there for years, and they have brought in some great employee's. New guy Justin is very charismatic and very good at people skills...girls say he is also easy on the eyes, well I guess I see that.
Go there, you will be treated very well.
lovely views of the pacific

this is a nice place for a date or for just relaxing. you could even bring your mom here and she would like it. unless your dad is also there at the bar hitting on the 21 year olds! ha! it sort of has a reputation for older men picking up younger women here, more than most bars anyway. the views are beautiful, the service smart. drinks can be pricey. you can order food too. sometimes there is nice live music.
- Pros: views are gorgeous
- Cons: drink prices high
that explains it....

best first date citysearch 2005? maybe that's why people keep taking me here.......
So the furnature is comfortable, the food is pretty tasty. It's great as a hotel bar, that being what it is, but first date material? Meh. Keep trying boys, maybe 2 years ago something was different. Maybe I'm just not wowed by hotel bars.
When You Need to Relax and Indulge
by hapgoodnew at Citysearch
This is where I take friends from out of town for a drink or where I come when I'm in the mood to relax. It's a huge lobby/bar. You can pick your pleasure either sitting next to the fireplace, sitting next to a TV or my personal favorite, sitting next to the huge windows with the view of the Santa Monica Bay and the Pier. Wednesday nights, they have live jazz in the lobby which adds to the beautiful setting. The hotel itself is amazingly beautiful and comfortable and it would be a wonderful place to hang out even without the breath taking views. The mixed drinks are amazing! Of course, they will run you $15 for a cocktail - but they are at least a strong pour! I also enjoy the cheese plate. Service is always a bit slow as other reviewers have mentioned, but I've never really minded since it is such a nice place to hang out and talk. I would definitely recommend this spot for anyone looking for a romantic date, a place to catch up with friends, or a relaxing night out. You get plenty of personal space, so I haven't found it the ideal spot for meeting new people though I guess there is probably some intermingling at the actual bar.
- Pros: Beautiful view, beautiful hotel, beautiful drinks
- Cons: service is a little slow and prices are a little steep.
Wonderful!

I love it here! It's my bar of choice... It's very classy, and always busy! They have great food, and amazing martinis, I personally love the pomagrante martini. I'd honestly have to say the only con is that the service can be a bit slow on getting drinks, but i hardly ever notice or even care because the ombiance is so wonderful! It's a great place for a first date, and or a great place to end the night!
- Pros: Romantic, Great Drinks, Wonderful atmosphere!
- Cons: Service can be a bit slow at times, and it can be pricey
Great place for a date!

The hotel lobby and bar area is very big and beautiful. Grab a seat by the windows, order a drink and watch the sunset. Love coming here on first dates. Nice environment to talk and get to know someone knew. You can sit by the fireplace, the bar, by the TVs, or on the cozy couches.
Easily one of the best hotel bars in L.A.
by jimmyray at Citysearch
Whether you kick back on one of the couches near the fireplace or grab a table near the flat screen TV or the windows, the expansive lobby, sweeping ocean views and live music (it's different all the time -- piano one night, live jazz quartet another) create an atmosphere of subdued celebration and sophistication. Excellent choices of high-end bourbons and scotches. Great place to unwind with a loved one or meet a group of friends, or even enjoy alone. You'll feel like you're away from L.A.
Great Atmosphere to Relax and Chat
by ladolcevita1 at Citysearch
Casa Del Mar is like stepping back in the time of an F. Scott Fitzgerald novel. It has a very 20's feel to it. It is open and spacious with lots of sitting areas and even a cozy fireplace or two. It's a great place to relax and chat. The appetizers are good. The staff has always been attentive. Usually there is always some sort of jazz musicians playing and occasionally a singer, which adds to the ambience.
- Pros: Great atmosphere, Relaxed, Usu. has musicians playing
Ehhhh...

The hotel is very beautiful and the view is really nice. The atmosphere is classy and relaxed so it would be a good place for a date. However, the service was bad and the drinks were very expensive - so it felt a little bit stuffy. If you're younger and looking for something more hip - I'd recommend the bar at Shade - a boutique hotel in Manahattan Beach. It's a little bit sexier and not as expensive!
- Pros: View
- Cons: Service, Price, Stuffy
Where Hollywood suits sip trendy spirits and seal movie deals.

The Scene
This beachfront bar is located in the swanky 1920s-style Hotel Casa Del Mar. The elegant lounge attracts entertainment's elite, but don't let that be a deterrent. The chic yet relaxed atmosphere overrides the assumption that it's strictly industry attitude and ego here. Go ahead and pitch a screenplay to the producer perched on the neighboring bar stool--after a couple of martinis, he just might be receptive. Men without the means to afford multiple rounds should lower their expectations; women will have a much better chance of hooking up with Mr. Right.
The Draw
The crowd consists of a mix of DKNY-suited studio execs and black-clad club-hoppers who range from 20- to 40-somethings. Make sure to get there early on Friday or Saturday night to snag a seat.
