Best place in BH for accessories, shoes, cosmetics and gifts. And celebrity-spotting if you're into it.
Pros: Open late on thursday nights; parking
Cons: attitude

I found the most amazing deals at the Barney's New York Warehouse Sale last season, and I can't wait to go again. Even the waiting in line is worth it!!! You just have to put on your boyshorts and camisole (remember you will be changing in public) and get ready for the most amazing finds!!! I'm not a 2 or a 14 and was able to add some amazing items to my wardrobe: A pair of Manolos (size 8 1/2) for $70 (regularly $585!!! Four pairs of Theory pants for $75 each (regularly between $250-$350). Tops from Philip Lim, Trovata, Vince, James Perse etc. That doesn't even include my boyfriend - he was able to completely outfit himself for work with suits (about $450 each) and sportcoats (about $250 each) from Varvatos, Canali, Hugo Boss. It was amazing. We went about 4 times. I can't wait for it to start on August 10, 2006. See you at t he Barker Hangar!!!
Pros: amazing clothes at great prices
Cons: no fitting rooms

this is the place is you're intent on wearing Vera Wang on your big day. they carry many of her dresses and the prices start at about $3k and up. better to make an appointment here before you go, otherwise you won't get the attention you may want, and the sales staff may be a bit snooty.
Pros: lots of vera wang

Yes, things at BNY are expensive. However, it's worth the money when I can afford to splurge on myself. My favorite floor is the 4th, where you can find all the designer botique brands (Prada, Paul Smith, Comme des Garcons, etc...) and the Co-Op. The Co-op is the spot where you can find the most exclusive names (and large selection) in denim from PDC, Rogan, ICR, Chip and Pepper. Service is always superb...........the sales staff (Marcus, Scott, Corey) will always give their honest opinion on fit and all. While you're there, definitely stop by the men's beauty area on the first floor. Gary will take care of you with the colognes and skincare!
Pros: Selection, Service

My poverty doesn't exactly make me the target Barney's customer, but it's a longtime favorite for entertaining my mom, hanging out with indulgent ladyfriends (a fun game = trying to guess where the restrooms are), and the occasional splurge. I stop by for my Aesop fix and YSL cosmetics, and the hallowed Barney Greengrass upstairs has the nicest bar staff/best snacks.
Pros: fancy stuff, selection, eats

Exclusive? Yes. There are plenty of things here that you won't find at Neiman's, Saks etc. The jewelry is fabulous! No David Yurman here! Really cool, unusual things that you won't see anywhere else. Expensive? Yes. Worth it? Sure, if you've got the $$$. Tightly edited and selective assortments. Makes the other big stores on Wilshire look like Macy's. #1 for shoes, the coolest jewelry and RTW. Home dept is hit/miss.
Pros: FREE parking in BH!, hard-to-find items, NICE stuff!
Cons: i'm so fabulous staff, sticker shock!

no matter how much you have in your pocket. For high-end, you can find it all over the store. More friendly price, coop section then. As for the staff's attitiude, if the one who's helping you is mean, get another. There are some friendly ones, and you can always find the floor manager to complain the rude ones.
Pros: Nice Environment, Celeb-Sightings, Great Selection
Cons: Some Rude Staff, Sold Out Quickly

Not to discredit other shoppers in town, but Barneys in my eyes didn't have anything we couldn't get from Neimans, Saks, Bloomingdales and at the very least, Nordstroms out in the valley. I think the posh name and brou ha ha is what makes people shop here, really, but pretending it is exclusive? yeah, right.
Pros: good selection, high end goods, nice environment
Cons: none

Barneys is my #1 shoe store of choice. Yes, the shoes are expensive, but worth buying fewer and better. Sincce I buy unusual shoews, I wear them for dseveral years rather than the pedestrina stuff from other stores that I gfet rid of the following year. This is definitely investment footwear at its best. And it's even better when they have a sale. But, if you see a shoe you like, you need to get it or they will be out of them when you go back.
Pros: selection, service, appearance
Cons: sell out quickly, expensive
