Chic Boutique Hotel with Poolside Dining
by hvandyke
Each room is unique and designed with a mid-century modern flare. We had our wedding afterparty poolside at the Avalon in August of 2007. I can't imagine and nicer way to end the night. The staff at the Avalon are just incredible. They waited on us hand and foot and made us feel like royalty!! We've been back many times to eat at Blue on Blue and have never been disappointed. The blue cheese burger is one of the best in town! Free Valet with Dinner.
- Pros: Beautifully Designed Atmosphere, Amazing Food,Friendly Staff
Treated us like queens!

We had the best time at this hotel! The staff treated us like queens. Marie and Jenny made recommedations and reservations for us, gave us directions to and from restaurants and told us where we should go to find celebs! Jason, a server at the restaurant/pool, was so sweet and catering to us. I think these people actually like their jobs because they want to take care of you. Stay at the Avalon if you want to have a great time in Beverly Hills.
- Pros: Great rooms and wonderful staff
- Cons: Mandatory valet parking but that's the only negative!
Very Nice Rooms, and accomodating staff!
by bigrob40
I flat out had a party in one of the rooms in there and they didn't care. We partied hard til 3am and no complaints. The rooms are big...have high end stereos, plasma tv!! What else could you ask for? You can rent one of the cabanas... but that costs $$$.
- Pros: Cool place to have a party...
- Cons: Not cheap... but hey... you get what you pay for.
Comfortable, Affordable, great staff, great bar
by magz21
My boyfriend and I both got sick over Memorial Day weekend and there were a million parties going on our block, so we decided to throw caution to the wind and get some much needed R&R at a hotel. I had been to the Avalon for drinks many times before (a great bar/patio), so we decided to try it for a night. Well, we liked it so much - we stayed 2 nights! It was a great deal and the staff was more then accomadating after hearing our story,...they even upgraded us to a room with a bigger bed just cause it was quieter. Overall, a great stay and a great value for Beverly Hills.
A Bit Palm Springs Motel-y But More Glamorized

Stayed here last month during my bday party at the hotel's poolside cabanas and found it nice but a bit weird. I had to stay at their pet-friendly building as I had my dogs with me, but it was across the street and it seemed that it was a converted apartment (very mid-century). Nice updated 50s/retro/Kelly Wearstler interior design, though some of the furniture looked like they needed cleaning. The staff was very friendly though, and explained the room functions very well. Seemed pricey at around $280/night for the type of hotel room, but it is Beverly Hills, so I guess it's expected. Plus I love the fact that they are dog-friendly (always a plus in my book).
- Pros: pet friendly, nice decor (retro), friendly bellboys & valet, great dining options
- Cons: a bit small, very motel-like
Alluring vintage hideaway doubles as an honorary clubhouse for visiting design divas and fashion mavens.

In Short
Mid-century retro in an informal, homey setting is the prevailing theme, but Asian accents (such as decorative bamboo stalks) and sleek seating keep the place modern. Airy pastels, especially sage and sky-blue, dominate the color scheme. Fans of classic modernism will appreciate the whimsy of George Nelson bubble lamps and the clean lines of Noguchi glass-topped tables. The Avalon's most stunning features are its architectural elements: a teal-and-light-purple basket weave facade, a towering copper-encased elevator and a figure eight-shaped pool.
