Sushi at Yabu is GOOOOOOD.....
by fnsa at Citysearch
It's not a scene, it's kind of hidden away with a beautiful and serene patio for when it's nice and warm outside...and the sushi is very fresh and very good..and not expensive! It's every bit as good as Wa further up on North La Cienega, and less pricey. The staff is super nice and the place has a warm, homey, almost romantic vibe. I'd go there with a friend or a lover...but not necessarily to impress some flush business clients.
- Pros: Warm and romantic atmosphere, good service, great sushi, value for the money
- Cons: None
Excellent Quality Food

Yabu is a small place that serves delicious authentic Japanese sushi. There are so many sushi places that have popped up around town, but Yabu continues to provide great tasting food. Typically, toro is the only sushi that will literally melt in your mouth. At Yabu, the yellowtail has the same results. Make sure to enjoy their outdoor patio for seating with a little fresh air. Although the seating is tight, the earth tones and overall balance are very impressive. A very nice place for a quick bite during the day, or a 2nd date get to know you a little more type of place. - Pros: great food, great service, outdoor/indoor patio
- Cons: no designated bar area,
A hip setting for creatively twisted, mix-and-match Japanese favorites.

In Short
Wood and glass provide clean lines, bringing to mind an ancient Japanese roadhouse. Offering a wide variety of traditional dishes, the mostly a la carte menu encourages diners to mix, match and share. Appetizers include miso soup tarted up with clams and scallions, and tender miso-fried eggplant. Juicy shrimp shu mai (shrimp dumplings) come steamed in a nest of noodles. Fried meats and vegetables, donburi rice bowls, sushi combos, and noodle specialties complete the menu.

yabu was a great dining experience. The back pation was kind of rain forest-esque with lots of foliage and bamboo--a serene place to enjoy good food. I had different sushi's and sashimi's-excellent, and my girlfriend had a Noodle Bowl. You can tell the difference with fresh noodles, and Yabu does a great job.
- Pros: inexpensive, great patio, good food
- Cons: parking
always good

Yabu is always a great experience. I love the bamboo garden in the back. I wouldn't go there for the Sushi but the rice bowls are amazing!
- Pros: nice outdoor seating
