Best golfing value in LA
by wankervon
Both Wilson and Harding offer great golfing value . The best times to play these courses are early mornings during the week as they are very crowded and play is very slow later in the days. I have teed off at 5:45 during the week and have finished in under 3.5 hours, so an early morning golfer has a big time advantage. An afternoon round can easily last over 5.5 hours. The conditions are inconsistent, sometimes well maintained while other times you might think you're on a goat track. They are beautiful courses . Wilson was designed by George Thomas, who also designed Riviera and LACC north.
- Pros: Beautiful old trees, no surrounding houses, beautiful views, very inexpensive for golf
- Cons: very slow play at times, poor playing conditions at times,
Very Slow Play
by snow_boarder81
I agree with the majority of the comments made before me: It's hard to get tee times, Wilson is better than Harding, not bad for a city course. That said, I felt the responsibility to inform people that the course consistently plays extremely slow. I live 10 minutes from there and play fairly often and I haven't finished a full 18-hole round there in under 5 hours for at least 5 years. This is due to the number of people that play the course as well as the quality of players and the fact that it does have long holes and allows people to walk.
- Pros: Difficulty, length
- Cons: Speed of play, course upkeep, tee time availability
Two great 18-hole courses, plus all the extras, make this a golf destination as glorious as the park it calls home.

In Short
Two public courses, two nine-holers, four putting greens, two pitching and chipping greens, a practice bunker and a 50-tee, double-deck, lit driving range make this L.A.'s golf heaven. The courses are popular (read: crowded) but well-maintained, and the top-notch staff aims to please. The Harding course is the easier of the two, although the slim fairways and small greens may have you feeling otherwise, especially on the 11th hole, with its deceiving dogleg and plentiful trees.
Great Courses
by WayneDockery
Both the Wilson and Harding courses are great layouts. Built in the mid 20s the two couses have imporves through time. Probably two of the best "city" courses in the country
- Pros: Great Layout, Great test of golf, Wide variety of holes
- Cons: Noise on two.three ho
Can I get a time?
by carterism
Pretty good courses. Wilson is longer than Harding but both are pretty good courses that offer a very good chalenge. While, Wilson is longer, Harding is more of a shot makers course. Both are good. Course conditios are fair, but what can be expected from one of the busiest courses in Los Angeles.
- Pros: Good Price, Good Challenge
- Cons: Crowded, Hard to get a time
definately a public course
by synstar
This course send out players right after another. The condition of the fairways and the greens are poor. There are always people waiting by the Tee box and a lot of yelling going on. Poor restaurant staff seems to be rubbed off by the course staff. Almost everybody working at the course are rude and has no respect to their guest. The Wilson Course has an excellent lay-out but the course doesn't attract me anymore because there are simply too many people, poor course condition and the lack of professionalism of the working staff
- Pros: inexpensive, inexpensive, Inexpensive
- Cons: Crowded, Poor service, Unsafe parking
Nice Range
by bradleyprice
The Driving Range at the Wilson/Harding Golf Courses in Griffith Park is a great place to practice no matter if you're just a beginner or if you're tweaking your swing for the upcoming tour. The prices are reasonable, the range has plenty of space and if your time it right, you can eavesdrop on lessons happening that may help your practice session. All talents swing the sticks here, so don't worry if you're slicing or hitting grounders with every stroke. Three tees down, you'll see someone else doing the same thing. They have a great little chippng area and three nice practice greens for putting. Plenty of Parking.
