Best Hang in LA on Tuesdays

by jtpounder

They have a great Jam Band that plays tuesdays late--around 10:45 pm. Every time I've been there, it's been packed with talent, on stage and off. Definitely the best Westside hang on Tuesdays!

Cold

by dmenkes

The Brig lives up to its name in that when a group of us came here for drinks, it was cold and drafty. We almost didn't want to order drinks because we were all freezing. The drinks were decent and not too pricey, but even when it's packed, I just don't like the metal+concrete vibe of the place. When I worked down the street, it was more convinient just to stop by briefly, but I wouldn't make it a regular destination these days.

  • Pros: parking lot
  • Cons: cold atmosphere

A hip, bohemian crowd relaxes at this uber-sleek hangout.

by Contributor

After a major makeover, the Brig has been transformed into a gorgeously modern, casually elegant lounge. The pool table still commands center stage in this spacious one-room bar, but the soft lighting, art deco decor and pulsating electronica soundtrack are all new additions. Even the restrooms have been revamped and now feature oddly chic chandeliers and recessed mirrors. But despite the swanky setting, the vibe remains laid-back, making it the perfect spot for a weeknight cocktail with friends.

Good place to go on a random weeknight and for MOJITOS!

by estherj

The Brig is home to the best mojitos I've ever tasted in my life. The atmosphere is mellow and low-key on weeknights, a good place to go for a drink and some conversation. The interior is also decorated very well, a little retro mixed with a little lost in translation, and although it's a relatively small bar, there's also a pool table and dj. Be careful not to miss the sign though since there's no name outside, there's only a picture of a boxer. I always wondered what the hell the boxer stands for, but then I looked at the business card: "Come in for a few rounds." Clever.

I want to live in Venice now.

by tica79

The mix of people reflects exactly what I like about L.A. Refreshingly unpretentious crowd that is a good blend of local and international. After last night, I wish I lived in Venice. Loved the layout, didn't love the angry bartender (Casey) who was so rude it was almost funny. Bartender aside, this bar is perfect and I highly recommend it!

  • Pros: The mix of people
  • Cons: angry bartender

Great low key lounge

by grex

This place should be my local bar, since it's 2 blocks away. During the week and on early weekend eves, this place is fantastic. A dark but very comfortable. Nice decor and the music is always on point. Weekend nites it gets packed and then thins out - seems people either retire or barhop. I'd say late nite weekend is prob the best, the music suits the hour extremely well. Smart crowd - comfortable and easy. I had an old friend in from DC and we went out to dinner at Mao's one nite, had some tacate's and then rode our bikes over to this place. Sat down in the corner and ordered a couple Ketel/Tonics: $18 - I was a little put off...til I tasted---as one reviewer has said...they have a great pour here. I will pay if the drink is honest...it is at the Brig. Good time had.

  • Pros: Pour, Ambience, Music
  • Cons: Can be crowded

Kinda like Hollywood, but without the cokeheads!

by nativelagirl

Stopped by this place a few weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised. LOVED the decor, just enough seating, and they were playing some great music (think: lounge meets house with a spoonful of funk). They have a pool table there as well. The crowd was great! People seemed nice, laid back, and there was very little of that "attitude" you find in the Hollywood crowds. Drinks were strong & bartenders were nice. I had a great time and would rec. this place for a chill night out with your friends.

  • Pros: Funky decor, Good drinks+music, Great crowd
  • Cons: Hollywood-esk bouncer

Cool place

by vikdanger

The Brig has a pretty laid-back vibe, with a very diverse crowd. The drinks are reasonably priced, and there's no cover charge. Plus, I found free parking very easily on a Saturday night, directly across from the place. By 11PM the place got really packed, so it's good to get there a little earlier to find some breathing room.

  • Pros: Diverse crowd, Good music, Friendly Staff
