Aint it grand?
by Marcus B at Citysearch
First up I must say I love the decor and the vastness of this restaurant, it reminds me of one one of those old 1920's supper clubs and I can just imagine a big band playing with girls in flapper dresses, and guys in tuxes!
The service is always good here too, I have always had a nice friendly server who is attentive, friendly but not overbearing.
In fact, the only issue I have with the place is the menu! Grand Lux is owned by the same peeps who own Cheesecake Factory and it really shows in the food. Yes there are generous servings, that come out of the kitchen in a timely manner and look good and taste above average, but at the end of the day it is that same menu that I have begun to get tired of.
Grand Lux lives up to its name when it comes to the venue and staff, alas it definitely lives down to the Cafe part too.
A good place to go with the family while shopping at the Beverly Center for a quick bite though, which is nice.
- Pros: Great decor, staff
- Cons: Menu needs some pizazz
A Happy Hour worth checking out if you are already in the mall
by AngelenoFoodie at Citysearch
Check out the review of this and many other happy hours at: happiest hours(dot)blog spot(dot)com - no spaces between words, but City Search won't allow it any other way. The food was all good, but not great. There are no drink specials, but the prices on food are very good (except the ahi, which was overpriced). The pina colada had to be sent back, which is strange, because in the restaurant part of GL, this is one of the best pina coladas in town, but they couldn't get it right at the bar. They brought out that great Grand Lux bread with butter, and the fried chicken was tasty, but overcooked. The sliders were terrible (have to get back to Happy Endings - now those are great sliders) and the calamari was good. Not much more to say. Can't remember the final tally, but I think it was $75 for three people with tip. A little much for HH, but we did overeat by a bit. If you're already in the Beverly Center, and want some quick, tasty comfort food for cheap, you could do worse than Grand Lux. But I wouldn't make it a special trip.
cheesecake's WAY better
by dthstar at Citysearch
if you feel like slightly over-paying to eat at a cheesecake factory type of a place, this is the place. but the downside is this place is worse than 'cheesecake.' they try to spoof up the menu w/ slighly more costly& a slightly more 'exotic' menu, but the food is actually a lot better at the cheesecake factory. the ambience is similar as well (but i'd say a lot less noisy), and they have just about the same desserts as 'cheesecake'... i always end up going to 'cheesecake' over this place cuz the food is just better at 'cheesecake' (better salads anyway). we don't get the hype w/ grand lux at all. they should just turn all grand lux cafes to cheesecake factories.
- Pros: cheesecake factory, part 2
- Cons: you wish you were just at cheesecake factory
This place is FANTASTIC

Myself, my hubby and two kids love this restaurant. We're always in L.A. and so we frequent this place often. The atmosphere is beautiful and makes you want to stay for a nice long meal. They really don't have a kids menu, but they will make a smaller sized pizza for them or a grilled cheese sandwich and some of the appetizers are suitable to be a meal for the kids. Our two kids get the Potato Spring Rolls and have this as their meal.... basically, these are mashed potatoes that are wrapped in a wonton wrapper and lightly fried and then covered with bacon pieces, melted cheese and green onions.....oh man these are good. !!!! The burgers here are pretty tasty as well as the sandwiches ( our favorite is the steak sandwich on a seeded roll ) The pastas are great and you can't go wrong with any of the appetizers....so, yeah, everything here is awesome. Now lets talk about desserts.... where do I start.....YIKES....they are soooooo good...the waiters will tell you to order certain desserts ahead of time because they take awhile to cook, but we never order these desserts until we're done with our meal, ( we don't want to be eating and have our dessert come )...... Our favorite's are the fresh baked chocolate chip cookies, the Rustic apple pie,and the Beignets that come with three different sauces to dip them in. Really all the desserts are great....we should know, we've tried most all of them !! So I suggest you try this place if you haven't.
- Pros: Great food, Super service and nice atmosphere
- Cons: no cons
Large, casual dining without much flavor
by jericsmall at Citysearch
The Grand Lux Cafe at the Beverly Center complex is pretty good but most of the dishes really don't have that much flavor. I've been maybe 3 or 4 times and have yet to find anything great. Portions are large and the deserts rule, so go because you're just plain hungry or because you need to satisfy that sweet tooth, but don't go when you're looking for something delicious. It's just not here.
A sure bet!

This place is always on the list of dinner possiblities. I'm a regular and I still haven't gotten halfway through the menu. They have huge portions and a wide variety of food. The atmosphere is adult, but not too stuffy. It's the kind of place that you might see a celeb, but it's not just some trendy place-to-be-seen. Go to enjoy the food, but don't forget to buy some fresh baked chocolate chip cookies to go!
- Pros: Food, Drinks, Cookies!
- Cons: Long wait
great menu, big portions

"Everytime I go to Grand Lux, I get something different, and it's always awesome. The portions are generous, and you leave full and satisfied. The soutwest flatbread sandwich is amazing, as is the Max burger. Great martini selection too."
Grand Lux Not so Grand
by reggieyoung at Citysearch
Went to the Gand Lux In LA after church on sunday , really didn't have a good experience , when we were seated we waited over 20 minutes for our drinks and even longer for our late breakfeast. The waitress wasn't professional (maybe it was my body wash ) I had a better experience at the Grand Lux in Las Vegas there the food was awesome and the servers were very friendly. I will Give Grand Lux in LA one more shot , maybe for dinner this time & a different server
Thanks to my dad...

I wouldn't have known about this place. He used to be the kitchen manager here so I came here A LOT .... but the food is AWESOME. It's my favorite restaurant to date, because you can't beat their warm crusted apple pie and pastas! Its sister is Cheesecake Factory, but Grand Lux has a more romantic setting, better food selections, and they're awesome when it comes to group dining. Every now and then, celebrities will drop by so that's always a treat.
- Pros: desserts, pastas, service
Cheesecake Factory with High Ceilings
by jrizal at Citysearch
Yep, Grand Lux is nothing more than Cheesecake Factory with high ceilings and with more bathroom stalls. The pasta choices are so-so just like the recent pasta choices at Cheesecake. The dessert choices though better. They have this molten chocolate cake which was very good and our server mentioned a dessert that was deep fried. Although we did not order the latter, it sounded promising. Oh, before I forget, the bread is the best!
- Pros: Bread, Molten Chocolate Cake, Service and Parking
- Cons: Pasta Choices
