Gotta say, if you don't mind droppin a c-note on food, drink, and the like.... You've pretty much going get your hook up. 1--The thing to keep in mind is the opposite gender is there for the same reason, so don't be awkward. 2-- Dress nice. I have to tell you, the dudes dressed like chumps were sittin off to the side, NOT have a great night. 3-- this is for the guys, Dance. Period. Sangria has two great dance floors (little crowded but ok) and two DJ's every night. So get in there and get some. Sidenote: This place has any number so celebrities come in on any given night, so be wary of that. They'll be mobbed, don't be part of the problem.
Pros: Great singles joint. If you don't come out with a girl on your arm, you're probably just a tool.
Cons: CROWDED. Expensive. Lots of dudes there for the same reason you are.

ALL I HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THIS PLACE IS THAT THEY ARE DISCRIMINATING TORCE LATINOS!!!!!!!!!!!! On September 16th (MEXICAN INDEPENDENCE DAY) a group of friends and i went out to a place called Sangria's in Hermosa Beach and were straight up discriminated against. They wouldnt let us in this place because we were a large group of hispanics. Don't think that we were dressed wrong or started some stuff there, because we didn't. We were the first ones in line and waited an hour for them to come to us and ask to speak to the leader of our group. My sister spoke with this black sellout and he said we werent going to be able to get in because one of the guys that wen't with us looked like somebody that came in the previous week and started trouble but none of the guys that went had even been there before. They also stated that an Hermosa Beach Police officer came and told them that but when we asked to speak to the officer they did nothing, we asked to speak to the manager and didn't let us. We drove 40 minutes, paid vallet and all just to not even be allowed into this place. I called twice that day to ask about the specifications on the dress code every single one of us were dressed properly, none of us were thugs, we did nothing wrong. I have never felt so discriminated against in my life. Its not right that they still do things like this to people, please dont let Sangria's get away with this, do something to spread the word out about them. Please take the time to repost this as a bulletin. How is this place going to be named after a latin drink but yet they discriminate against latinos? Never go here, this type of stuff has to stop, we are in the year 2008, people don't have the right to treat people like this.

This place is great. first of all, the food is great. Like all of hermosa beach, it gets really busy on a friday or saturday night, but the people that work there are really nice. The rest of hermosa beach can be pretty crappy, but this place does a good job of setting itself apart from the rest. Again, I think it's the people that work there that make the difference. The servers are very nice and friendly. the bartenders are great. the managers are very helpful. The bouncers are awesome. Good crowd, good music, good atmosphere. Very fun. This is a top notch place. I Highly recomend it.
Pros: Good Food. Great music.
Cons: Gets crowded on the weekends. sometimes long lines to get in.

Great priced drinks, Nice location, Great music! I have never eaten here but the night bar scene on the weekends rocks! I have made this bar the place I go when I don't want to worry about getting all gussied up just to have a good time. Very kick back so you can wear jeans and dance all night. The drinks are well-priced so you can go with a $20.00 and have about 4 drinks. The cover is a low $10.00 so it beats the Hollywood scene. Since Sharkees burned down it has gotten a bit crowdy so as long as you show up in line for 10:00 your ok.
Pros: Great Value, Good Music, Two dance floors
Cons: A bit crowded, Arrive early

I went to Sangria in Hermosa Beach for my 22nd birthday. I have to say, I think it was one of my best birthdays ever! I wasn't sure about it because I don't do the trendy or club scene often, so this was kind of a shot in the dark for me, but thankfully it worked out. I went with five friends of differing types and they all had a good time. First, the ambiance was great - darker, sultry, fresh, a little "exotic," and a little of trendy meets old world charm. Secondly, our waitress was awesome! She was extremely helpful, very nice, engaged in friendly conversation with our table, unexpectedly brought me a dessert (I was a bit too drunk to know whether or not it was free by that time) - the dessert was really good FYI, and she even brought us a round a free shots for the table once she saw me and a couple of my girlfriends drinking Long Islands, which are apparently her favorite. She even took a shot with us and I think she may have also been a bar tender. She really did help to make the experience! Drink wise... the Long Islands were average, maybe a little above, the dirty martini was alright but the restaurant's namesake was GREAT! Simply put, the sangria is definitely worth the price! The food was also really good and worth its price. I had their shrimp which they are known for, the quesadillas were good too. The dance scene was only alright, at least IMHO. One room was sorta Latin/dance music and the other was full of mostly older rap. I prefer rock music, alternative, classic rock and other fun oldies or old school rap, but it wasn't horrible. As the restaurant turned into a club it got much more crowded. We called ahead for reservations and the dress was mostly nice/casual. Great sangria, great food, great customer service. I would go back, but not likely for dancing unless I went on a live music night, or for flamenco (I think they have flamenco shows - check their website).

On a Saturday night, the hip hop beats were good and the drinks were fairly strong. You have to fight your way through the dance floor crowd to get to the bar, though. Like clean air? Too bad -- they keep the folding floor-to-ceiling doors perpetually open, so cigarette smoke from outside drifts straight in. Here's my biggest complaint: the doorman/bouncer decided, out of the clear blue sky, that my friend's baseball hat had to go -- immediately. Nothing was said to my friend upon entry, but hours later he was threatened with immediate expulsion unless he removed his formerly-not-a-problem hat. The bouncer said nothing to the several other people nearby that were wearing hats, though. Whatever, dude.
Pros: Dancing, singles scene (post-Sharkey's burning to the ground)
Cons: Bouncers with attitude, cigarette smoke, overcrowded dance floor
