Overpriced, Overrated
by MissGB
Great Eggs Hermosa - Great potatos and nice sized portions. I've gone here several times b/c its so close to my house BUT.....it's a little pricey AND I feel like the wait staff tries to rush you out of there....I realize its a busy place and there is a wait but i still don't think they should be rushing me through my meal.
Also on Sunday's they close at noon. Weird for a brunch place, right?
Amazing Brunch
by yas507
I went there for brunch a few weeks ago and have to say I found a new favorite place to go. The food was great. the service was great and the ocean view( its right on te beach) was spectacular. Brunch was tasty, welll spiced and attractive to look at. and it was somewhat healthy!
- Pros: tasty food, good service right on the beach
- Cons: parking is horrible
BEST ON WEEKDAYS
by aulljohn
THIS IS A GREAT LITTLE PLACE. IT DOES GET CRAZY ON THE WEEKENDS, BUT WHAT PLACE AT THE BEACH DOESN'T,THE SAND IS ONLY 75 YARDS AWAY. EVERYONE IS VERY NICE AND PLEASANT. I HAVE BEEN GOING HERE FOR ABOUT 20 YEARS. ABOUT 4 TIMES A YEAR. I HAVE ALWAYS HAD GOOD FOOD. ON OCCASSION THERE IS A WAIT BUT IT MOVES PRETTY FAST.ONE OF THE DIAMONDS IN THE RUFF IN HERMOSA BEACH. GREAT STUFFED FRENCH TOAST AS WELL.
- Pros: GOOD FOOD, NEAR THE BEACH
- Cons: HARD TO FIND PARKING ON THE WEEKENDS
Surly Service and Mediocre Food
by maldonadomiracle
Martha's seemed like a good idea - a chance to visit with my son in the fresh air on a Sunday morning over a delicious brunch. The hostess was pleasant and friendly, a bit frazzled, but who could blame her given the numbers of customers baking in the sun, waiting for a table? She said 45 minutes, and we thought that would be ok. An hour and 20 minutes later, we were shown to our sticky table in the corner. We then waited and waited and waited - for the drinks order, for the food order, for the food and for the check. No wonder so many people were waiting so long to be seated. The pace of service was glacial. This would have been forgivable if the food was fabulous, but, alas, it was not. The eggs benedict were cold, the hollandaise cold and frothy, and the pancake utterly unremarkable. The ultimate insult came when we tried to retrieve our check so we could get out of there and were told to sit down and wait for it to come. Have a picnic on the beach instead. This place was not worth the sunburn..
- Pros: Nice Location
- Cons: Poor service and mediocre food
Nice Place to have breakfast.
by msdenden00
I love the location of this restaurant, it's right next to the beach. It's truly a wonderful place to sit outside and have breakfast. The eggs at Martha's are to die for!! It doesn't matter how they cook them, I guarantee that they will be great!! The menu choices are endless, but my favorite thing would be the California eggs. Eggs on an english muffin with hollendaise sauce. Yummy!! I highly recommend this place.
- Pros: Location, Excellent food
- Cons: Slow service, Crowds
cute and cozy beach shack with good, wholesome food

i had the cilantro soup and a sandwich. the soup is very flavorful and refreshing. prices are a lil steep but hey someones got to pay the rent at this beautiful location. their home fries/potatoes are also delicious. fun place to bring friends from out of town for a nice lunch or after a nice walk on the strand.
- Pros: fresh food, location
- Cons: parking, lil pricey
GREAT find

What a great place to have breakfast/brunch on a nice morning. It does get crowded on weekends, but eat here once and you'll understand why. I've never had anything bad here, but particularly recommend all the eggs benedict-like items (eggs manhattan, eggs hermosa, eggs redondo...).
(Oh, and to the reviewer who can't figure out why people tend to wear bicycle shorts here: it's probably because there's a bike path along the beach and people tend to ride their bikes there.)
- Pros: Scenery (on the beach), casual atmosphere, people watching
- Cons: tough parking, gets crowded on weekends
One block from the beach, this South Bay charmer is a casual brunch destination.

In Short
Outdoor tables sit just one block away and within clear view of the Hermosa strand. Brunch here has become part of South Bay culture; locals come to fuel up before a day of sun, surf and volleyball. Brunch attracts addicts of its original Benedicts, topped with everything from sauteed spinach and artichoke hearts to ham and portobello mushrooms. Lunch options come in the form of a long list of sandwiches like grilled Monte Cristos and tuna melts.
Is this the best the beach has to offer?

Everyone raves about this place, but I can't figure out why.
The service is lax, if you're lucky.
The menu prices are high and the plates don't seem to
justify it.
Worst of all is having to dine with a restaraunt full of folks
running around in bicycle shorts. Why do people insist on
wearing those things...and in a place where people are trying
to enjoy a meal, for crying out loud?!
Where is the real breakfast joint in hermosa?
- Pros: near the strand
- Cons: bad service, mediocre food, high prices
EXCELLENT
