This is no doubt some of the best seafood you will find in the area. Yes, you do have venture out of LA county, and yes, you will mix and mingle with a surly crew of bikers and soldiers on leave from Point Magoo, but it's all worth it. The freshest seafood you'll find anywhere (as you pick it out while it's still moving) and all of it prepared with a greasy spoon's touch for taste. Not to mention a great view and outdoor seating that's really hard to beat. There's a reason you see paparazzi shots of stars pulling up outside this place.

Pros: You won't find better seafood with a cooler atmosphere

Cons: No cons, unless you mind sharing a table with ex-Hell's Angels

I went there after a day at the beach, and I had a blast. We ordered calamari, fried shrimp, and fish tacos, and everything tasted really good. I wish I would've gotten the clam chowder. Someone at a booth nearby had it, and it looked delicious. I liked the casual, beachy vibe, and the service was quick.

Pros: Fun place

Cons: Super busy

If you go to places for the restrooms, and not the food... Then this isn't the place for you... If you complain that a plate of fried seafood for 10 bucks is too expensive... Then this isn't the place for you. If you complain that this place is too far away from you... Deal with it, they can't move the building... This isn't the place for you. If you spend time tallying how many shrimp you get, and complain that it's not enough for 10 bucks... Then this isn't the place for you. If you are expecting valet parking, then this isn't the place for you. If you are expecting a host in a tux to greet you at the door, then this isn't the place for you. If you have have a problem with picking up your food at the window without someone bringing it to you, then this isn't the place for you. If you go to Mcdonald's and spend 3 bucks for a big mac, and complain that it's not filet mignon, then this isn't the the place for you. If you find something to complain about for everything, then lock yourself in you house, and never leave. If you like good food at very reasonable prices and ocean views.... The this is the place for you! Try the fresh seafood side.

I love how people complain about the service. Its a biker bar, what service did you expect? Nobody is going to greet you at the door, your waiter isn't going to pull out the chairs for you and wipe them down with his white apron, you're not going to get a wine list. The only thing one should expect from this place is cold beer and good food. And Neptune's delivers on both counts. The only bad thing is the crowds but even then I cant imagine Neptunes without the people. You got everything from out of town tourists to old school bikers, hot women, families with kids.... And pretty much everybody is friendly and just having a good time.

Pros: People, food, location, classic Southern California

Cons: sometimes hard to find place to sit

Let me just say that this place gets points for its location and for the fact that it is a staple of old L.A. However, the food was absolutely atrocious. For a place that is widely renowned for its seafood, I was really disappointed. My fish and chips was bland and the fish had a funny texture. It doesn't deserve all the hype but I gave it 2 stars because it is located in a really cool place.

Pros: Interesting location

Cons: Bad food, limited parking

The combination of bikers, tourists, and surfers certainly isn't found just anywhere. The clam chowder was very good, although it did need a little pepper, and the fried shrimp and french fries were excellent. I enjoyed the crab cake, but wish I'd skipped the fried fish--dry and bland. Still, it's better than some of its competitors closer to Santa Monica, and it's a fine place to eat if you're driving out PCH toward Oxnard.

If you go to Neptune's Net, you're pretty much going for it's A+++ location across from a great surfing beach. It offers the typical surf and turf fare. However, for the most part, it tastes like they got it from the frozen food section at Costco and heated it up in the back room (except for the live lobsters). Overall, the prices are somewhat high for the food that you receive. However, the location makes up for it as it is closed to the best open beaches in Southern California. So, go there for the location and vibe, but prepare for average food.

Pros: Relaxed, good location, close to the beach, great for Biker Sundays

Cons: Value of what you pay for / get

great fried seafood! if you come on a sunday, expect at least a half an hour wait for you food. all the bikers meet up here on sundays, so it's ridiculously crowded.

Beautiful view of the ocean...and of biker dudes and chicks. Most people come for the fried seafood, which is great, but the steamed seafood is also delish and much healthier. If you don't want to drive all the way out here just for lunch, try combining it with a nearby hike. If you go up Yerba Buena road you'll find a great trail. It's 4-5 hours if you do the whole loop (and totally worth it, incredible views) but of course you can just go as far as you want and then backtrack. And then get the fried food at Neptune's Net - you've earned it!

Neptune's Net is a world famous Surf Shack landmark. Emphasis on SHACK! THis place hasn't changed in 50 years and if you don't like it, then it is not for you. First of all, it is in the middle of no where -- so EVERYBODY drives an hour an half to get there. Why? Because it is what it is. Good food, good people and good atmosphere. Laidback is the key word to describe the customers - many of which have been coming for decades. I have seen my fair share of customers who come and think they are going to a 5 star restaurant. Dream on. The only people who write bad reviews about Neptune's are the same people who come into EVERY restaurant and complain because they have nothing better to do. Here's tip: Neptune's is a beach shack with amazing food and cheap drinks. What else can you ask for?

Pros: Beer for under $2.00, steamed Maine lobster, Cool crowd

Cons: Too crowded on weekends
