Good food, slow service

by dreamlet

Good basic food with some healthy options as well (they cater to the Gold's Gym crowd). The one thing that's always bugged me about the place though is that they never seem to have enough people on the floor during lunch. One server for a whole restaurant during a busy lunch hour is just not enough. I takes forever to get out of the place! Maybe take out is a better option.

Terrible Breakfast

by jeb31

i live nearby and have been wanting to try this neighborhood place. but got dead cold oatmeal with frozen berries on top. sent it back for toast which never came. husband's eggs were cold and dry. we were the only people there so i didn't understand the cold food. the waiter was very nice and apologetic, but i will never go back.

  • Pros: nice service

Amazing

by mandazie

Amazing breakfast, laidback true venice vibe. Local spot with awesome monte cristo's and anything else you would order. Great place to take that laidback best friend you never get to see who's flying in for just a few days. Unassuming. Amazing feel, just stay off the patio when I'm there because i'll want that seating!

Laid-back Venice favorite attracts a diverse crowd with its schizophrenic menu.

In Short
Venice locals lounge indoors and out at a handful of mismatched tables and cozy booths. Inside, bright, funky art covers brick walls and oversized pinatas hang from the ceiling. The large menu travels throughout the U.S., but settles somewhere between the Southwest and California. Breakfast selections tend toward healthy, such as veggie tofu scrambles. For lunch, the chicken quesadilla is a mix of chicken, onions, mushrooms, tomato, peppers and cheddar cheese.

Excellent

by uclagirl

This is a funky little place--although the art wasn't as off-beat as we'd expected. Still, the service was friendly and the prices were good. Most importantly, the food was delicious. I had the Brick House Club, which included a generous portion of avocado. The breakfast burrito came with Texas Queso (order it on the side, our server suggested, and she was right), which is also great on your fries. Oh, and get the fries.

Great Venice spot

by rlevine

Cool vibe, good food and friendly wait staff. For breakfast on weekends you may have to wait for a table and your coffee, but overall it's a relaxing, fun neighborhood spot. And if you go early, there is almost never a wait. I've eaten both lunch and breakfast here and the food has consistently been good. I especially like the scrambles and wraps. The coffee is great too. If you eat inside, try to get a booth. The patio is also a great spot on a sunny day.

  • Pros: cool vide, friendly
  • Cons: sometimes a wait

it's aiight...

by tofutratra

it's true that the wknd crowd might make u feel a little discouraged to wait for an available table. the wait wasn't too long or bad though this past Saturday i went. i didn't notice how early ppl wake up nowadays even in the wknd's. Brick House's menu is big, offering a huge selection of different food, which is kinda inviting me to go back and try other food rather than the omlete i had. that was just normal, nothing special at all, in fact, i think i can cook it myself just as good. i'll give it another try on different dishes and decide if it'll be a place i keep going back in the future, and recommeding it to my friends.

  • Pros: big menu
  • Cons: , place too small, normal tasting food

Hipster cafe

by foxhenchman

The weekend crowd is big... so you can expect a wait ranging from 10 minutes to half an hour. The food is usually pretty good, but when it's busy it tends to be served cold. Still, the wait staff is extremely friendly, the crowds are almost always young and good looking, and the decor is fun. Art on the walls usually better than average, and the music selection is first rate.

  • Pros: Hip, Great music, Friendly wait staff
  • Cons: crowded, long wait times, mediocre service
