The sporting goods superstore that covers all the bases, from home gyms to team sports and paintball.

In Short
This chain (which began as a small ski shop in 1959 and has grown to more than 30 locations throughout California and Nevada) boasts a selection of equipment for everything from rollerblading and running to racquetball and football. Test-drive the latest golf clubs or break into a sweat on one of the home gyms. The ski--and now snowboard--equipment is still available, in addition to the odd fly-fishing or cricket accessory.

WORST Customer Service EVER

Yes, the 2 story store is nice. The employees and service, however, are the WORST I've ever encountered in ANY retail environment. In particular, the shoe department, where I'd planned on splurging on a great pair of running shoes, had THE most idiotic "salespeople" (if you can call them that). The one employee on the floor was on the phone and even when I'm waving and saying "I need help" completely ignores me and continues to talk on the phone. This went on for over 10 minutes while I was waiting. And, he was just one of the winners I had to deal with. DO NOT BUY FROM SPORT CHALET. Instead, I found right around the corner, a great sports store called "Top To Top" on Lincoln. Found them on the internet and can't say enough good things about them. The service is night & day compared to SC. Spend your money at Top to Top. You won't be sorry.
- Pros: if you enjoy painful service, go there
- Cons: WORST PEOPLE & SERVICE!!!
Appalling Customer Service!

Sport Chalet is okay if you know exactly what you want and precisely where it is. However, if you don't , the customer service is so embarassingly bad that you'll be lucky to find an employee on the floor who doesn't purposely avoid/ignore you. If you do finally snag a salesperson to ask them a question or direct you towards a product, I've found that they know very little about the product and almost always have to ask one or two of their other coworkers in order to formulate a minimally accurate response.
I have a Sports Chalet very near to my house and after a couple of frustrating attempts at going there to buy something as simple as cleats or pilates equipment, I will now drive down to Yoga studios in Santa Monica or the South Bay for soccer equipment!
Avoid the stress, find somewhere else if you plan on having any questions about the product they carry.

A nice two story Sports Chalet. Everything you would need for just about any outdoor activity. I usually research my items at REI and then purchase them at Sports Chalet, where they are almost always cheaper.
- Pros: Good Selection
