Love this spot

I live near Berri's and have been going there for a couple years. It seems like the management has changed over a few times, but the food has remained the same and has always been really good. My boyfriend and I love this spot. It has a great enclosed patio for lunch too.

Good neighborhood place for food and drinks

I've been going to Berris for years - mostly because its only a block from my house. But they have a full bar and a great menu. Usually, their food is good but the service is mediocre. We used to joke that they turn over workers at Berri's every two weeks.

However, it seems to be getting better since it has a new owner. I really wish their prices would go down a bit - a salad is like $13 for some lettuce, nuts and dressing. Thats a ridiculous price - but its also very yummy - so its a toss up. I guess I'd go more if their prices were a little lower, but overall I recommend it. The atmosphere is also great. They used to have a piano and do a jazz night - but I don't know if they still do that.

Exceptional Food............Great Service!!!

Have been going to Berri's for about 3 years............always and experience. Love the ambiance and the service....Looking at the reviews here makes me think people are just to bitter and should stay home and learn how to cook. Want to congratulate management for a job well done. Highly recommend this restaurant to all my friends, colleagues and family!

Delectable Italian food!

After reading the other reviews, I was apprehensive...but my daughter & I went to lunch there today (1-31-08). I guess management read them too and made the necessary changes. The service by our waiter, Stryder, was exceptional. He refilled our drinks without being asked and checked on us periodically to ensure that we have everything we needed. We ate by the lounge - very nice ambience with comfy chairs. For $48, we got 2 orders of their penne pasta with chicken, sun-dried tomatoes and broccoli, caesar salad, tomato soup, tiramisu and an order of their lobster ravioli to go (my husband's favorite dish for him to compare - he loves the one served at Redondo Beach?s Coyote Cantina & Hermosa Beach?s Fritto Misto). The pastas we had (mine was served with alfredo sauce and my daughter had hers made with the pink sauce) were very delectable - not bland like the entrees served at Redondo Beach 's Venezia Grill. As for dessert, the tiramisu was very moist, not dry. The garlic roll was served fresh out the oven and very delectable when dipped in their olive oil/garlic sauce! Our waiter even gave us complimentary cheese & olives for appetizers and marinara sauce (you pay extra for this at Olive Garden) to dip our rolls. We would definitely go back here again!

Got sick twice

I work close to that restaurant so occasionally take business guests there. I got sick once and another employee got sick another time. I thought mine was just a coincidence, but after I heard my employee got sick, I decided that that was my last trip there. I never see more than 2 tables full, I honestly don't know how they stay in business.

I agree with the other reviews written here except for one point. They all say that there aren't any decent places to eat in Plya Del Rey. Just down the hill on Culver Blvd is Cantalini's, great food!

I agree with the other reviews written here except for one point. They all say that there aren't any decent places to eat in Plya Del Rey. Just down the hill on Culver Blvd is Cantalini's, great Italian food, friendly service and free valet parking. Plus, there are at least 5 other excellent places including another Italian. Take a ride down Pershing to Culver and turn left. Drive to the end of Culver and you will have passed several including Catalini's. Stop in and say hello to Lisa, Brian and Clive.

Good pizza and salads

Nice ambience and a great place to meet someone for drinks and appetizers in the bar area. Comfortable couches and low tables have a lounge feel to them and are conducive to long, in-depth conversations. Food is very good, especially their creative salads and thin-crust pizza.

Lucky to be the only place in the neighborhood

Took well over 15 minutes to get our first drink order. Our waiter was essentially absent all night and the place wasn't even that busy. Unimpressive, amateur pizza - weak crust, cheese sliding off, toppings cut into enormous pieces. Soda refills were served from a pitched with ice - ice that seemed to have all but melted, creating a very diluted beverage. Getting another drink was like pulling teeth. Our whole party marveleed at the lack of service. Would say it was horriblebut it was more like non-existent. Won't be returning.

Will they ever get it right

Funny how I order something 20 minutes after they open, and someone just got the last one. What excuse will they use next. They have consistently been out of what I wish to order. Had them deliver and it took 1 and 1/2 hours just to get the first part of my order (he had to make two trips because the guy in the adjacent apartment oredered too... that makes sense). They have only gotten my order right once, but since they are the only semi decent food in Playa, I have had no choice. Have been there 7 times and 7 was the last. Now I will keep frozen pizzas and gladly cook rather than order from them. There food really is overpriced and overly salted and not worth the hastle anymore.
