back to LA for food

by Tammy love at Citysearch

upon my 26yr return to LA, I was not only delighted to try Phat & Juicy Burgers, but excited at the prospect of tasting fine food!

I wasnt disappointed at all! Not only was the service provided by the friendliest member of staff (Owner) but the high quality food was to my full satisfaction! I had Chilli Cheese Fries with Pastrami! sheer delight! the fries were not too hard, or greasy, nor soggy and under cooked, the chilli was divine, but the Pastrami was an unusual touch that topped off the dish beautifully! Thanks, Thanks, and thanks again! and there will be an again! All the Way from England!

Better than the rest!!!

Contributor at Citysearch

I've had a lot of burgers but this place is the best. There's nothing like their turkey burritos. It's something about the hot sauce that seals the deal. The food is always fresh and never disappointing. I wish the location was closer to where I live because I would eat there everyday! There's always a line so must know people are coming for a reason!!!

If you like Fatburger, but not the price...here's a decent alternative

by MikeLOC at Citysearch

Phat and Juicy Burgers...the name sounded interested...and I'd always see their signs outside on Centinela/Beach advertising their "$1 taco Thursdays" or their "$2 burger Tuesdays" and thought one day I should give this place a try. I like burgers, all kinds of burgers (except veggie burgers!)...from the most basic Mickey D's cheese burger to the Kobe Beef Burger they serve at the Bonaventure Hotel in downtown. But there's nothing like a good ol' homemade style hamburger that you can get right in your own neighborhood. P&J Burgers is similiar to Fat Burger, except that they cost somewhat less and the burgers are slightly smaller. There isn't much fanfare to their waiting area, the colorful wall menu and little tv they have is about all you have to keep yourself entertained while you wait for your order. All in all I'd say this place is highly recommended if you want a Fatburger style burger without the wait and super-high prices. nly slightly smaller.

  • Pros: food quality, freshness, price, service
  • Cons: waiting area is drab and parking lot is small, but who cares! great burgers!

GREASIEST BURGERS IN TOWN

by mramir at Citysearch

My bf and I tried phat burgers for the first time and it was a bad experience. The burgers were really nasty and by the time we got home, which is only about ten minutes away the burgers were extremely soggy and hardly edible. Their french fries were extremely greasy, (i know they're deep fried, but for some reason they just seemed like the greasiest french fries) do yourself a favor and go to fabulous burgers right down the street!

  • Pros: none

Phat, Not Fat

by rbc at Citysearch

This place is kind of a knock-off of the Fatburger chain, with one difference: the food is fresher, more homemade, and damn good! I'm impressed, and don't really recommend it because you'll be in my way!

  • Pros: Fresh, Homemade style
  • Cons: gotta wait for 'em to, cook it

GREAT!

by duanecobb at Citysearch

I was first put on to Phat & Juicy by a girl I was dating who lived near it. I assured her that nothing could be better than A-1 Burger, or the Original Quick and Split....It never tasted so good to eat my words. Ever since, Phat & Juicy has been added to my list. All three spots I've named have the REAL L.A. Burgers. Dont be fooled by trendy pretenders.

Tasty, but greasy

by chrisnrich at Citysearch

You expect some grease when you go for burgers. However, our orders seemed excessively greasy, which will prevent us from going here often. Chris' fries and Rich's onion rings were especially resplendent with oily residue.

Grease aside, our whole meal was real tasty! The Gramma burger, with egg, onion, and green peppers premixed with the meat, was extremely tasty, no mean feat with ground turkey. Chris' King cheeseburger was equally good, with only the aformentioned problems with grease.

The service was great, and the food is obviously cooked to order. Next time, we will probably call our order in. In summary - not at all health food, but darn good!

  • Pros: food, service, parking
  • Cons: grease

THE REAL BURGER KING

by luckymike7 at Citysearch

While most people are stuck on other burger places with mass appeal, us true burger affecionados have been treated to what should be rated as the Best burger in L.A. You can have your burger dressed any way you like from served on a wheat bun or with turkey bacon, turkey chili, or avacado or practically anything you like. located on the corner of Centinella and Beach, two blocks east of Magic Johnsons TGIFridays.

Also in Culver City in the Fox Hills Mall.

  • Pros: seasoned burgers, fresh meat, cooked to order
  • Cons: seating space

Really Phat & Juicy...

by ctolbert1 at Citysearch

I stopped in by "accident" but later realized that it must have been divine intervention to lead me to the BEST burger joint in LA. The Grandma Burger is so fresh and tasty...the Phat Burger are, well fat...Try it and you will never desire any other burger again because everything else is Thin & Dry

  • Pros: Great Value, Fresh food
  • Cons: not many around, small dining area
