I am now a better grandpa ever!... Acording to Mikie

I was out doing some last minute Christmas shopping when I saw Magicopolis. I have been here before but decided to see what they had for tricks. I didn't play on buying a magic trick, but, when it costs $10 dollars, I thought why not. It turns out the trick was really easy to do and I was able to do it that night for my grandson. Pulling off my thumb doesn’t work for him anymore, but, now I can change a penny into a dime :)
- Pros: Fun and easy magic tricks
- Cons: Driving in Los Angeles
Magic Tricks
by Bobbysteel at Citysearch
I searched all over the place to buy a magic trick for my son and the only thing that comes up in google is Hollywood Magic and they are closed. What happened to all the good ole magic stores where one could come in and see a real person performing magic, then buy the trick that you just saw performed? It is weird that Magicopolis does not come when I search magic tricks in Los Angeles. Thankfully it came up under magic shows and the website was very informative.
The staff was great. The tricks were exciting, fun, and easy to do. Not mention they were also at a good price which must be hard for them to pays the bills I imagine... I still wonder what happened to all the magic stores. Hope they aren't a dying breed. It would be a shame to see this place go.
- Pros: Great service and very knowledgeable staff
- Cons: Limited hours, only 11-6
Worst place in LA
by Angeleno101 at Citysearch
This place was unsanitary, smelled horribly, and the show was not even funny. The staff was completely untalented and the service was horrible. It was a complete waste of time and I would never recommend anyone to waste 2 hours of their time there. I rarely complain but found this to be so memorable (in the worst possible way) that I felt I needed to warn people.
- Pros: None
- Cons: Everything

Magicopolis is such a neat place to take friends and family. The show is all ages and reminds me of a show you would see in Vegas. Also there is a bar magic show every Saturday night at 10 that I go to probably at least three times a month!
Gem of Santa Monica

“Escape Reality” the title of the two hour show at Magicopolis says it all. From the minute I walked into the door I was instantly entertained. Even before we were seated for the show we found ourselves participating in magic tricks at the bar with the bartender and there were two more magicians performing in the lobby! It’s such a cool atmosphere right when you walk into this place. You instantly feel welcomed like you were invited to a really cool private magic party with friends. After seeing some magic close up you are seated for the show and it’s incredible. It’s a huge show with music and comedy and audience participation. We got to witness a lady float right before our eyes, have her body completely smooshed, saw a man escape a burning rope and deadly spikes, read audience members minds, and that is only the half of it! I haven’t come across another form of entertainment in LA even comparable to what this place has to offer. It is truly a one of a kind experience! Whenever I have visitors from out of town I always take them to Magicopolis and it continues to be just as entertaining as ever!
Witty and amazing

Classic magic at it’s best as well as tricks I have not seen before. All routines are original. The show is very upbeat, witty and engaging, this show had me laughing and amazed. I also liked the free late night show with guest magicians and comics.
- Pros: origainal and polished
- Cons: parking
So Much Fun

I went to Magicopolis with my entire family including my little 5 year old sister. I thought it would be like all the other little kid things we have to do as a family with her but everyone loved it! The show was so cool the magician Steve Spill was really funny and he actually made a woman float, read our minds, and made money come out of my brother's ears. He even had my older 21 year old sister laughing and in awe.
- Pros: Non-stop entertainment
You've got to see this!!

I wandered by this place with my girlfriends, and I didn't know what it was. Christi wanted to go see a magic show, and I was down with that. We wandered in and this place is the bomb! There's this dude who does a big magic show in the back. We saw it and it was awesome. I liked it when he made his assistant float. I remember seeing some magician do it when I was a kid, and it was so cool seeing it again.
The best part was the bar. There's this bar tender named Erik. All I can say is damn. He's good. The stuff he did was different from anything I've ever seen. I think I saw him at The Improv a few months ago, because there was this joke he did about his parents crying themselves to sleep. He's really funny. He convinced me and my chicas to hang out after the show. He does this show on Saturday nights called The Bar Show! It was one of the funniest things I've ever seen. He had these two chick comedians and this magician that performed behind the bar. Me and my ladies were laughing so hard we could barley drink out wine. Erik hosted the show, and I almost fell off my bar stool when he shoved a pen up his nose. Then he ate a deck of cards and found Christi's card with his tongue. It was crazy hella funny.
The only complaint I have is that they ran out of Pinot Noir. There were a lot of people in there, and I guess they had a run on it.
You guys have got to see this show. Seriously, go see it. Go see it now. I'm going back next week to check out The Bar Show! It changes every week, and it's my new thing on Saturday nights.
highly recommend!!

All of us in our party of 3 agreed it was one of the best plans we ever had. We wanted to do something fun, but were tired of the crazy club scene. There were people of all ages. The show was very entertaining. We were amazed by the tricks, all the magicians were very funny comics and didn't take anything too seriously ( a la david copperfield). Highly recommend this show, especially for a fun night out!
- Pros: all ages, drinks for the adults, magicians everywhere, food and tricks for the kids
It's Magic

How often do we parents get to turn to our kid and gasp, ?How the squid did he do that?? With Santa Monica?s Magicopolis offering a family-friendly version of its popular ?Escape Reality? show on weekend afternoons, the answer is twice a weekend. No offense to those eager, multi-tasking birthday party clowns and their not-so-sleight-of-hand, but the tricks at Magicopolis are popcorn-droppingly amazing. Many are familiar ? from handkerchief illusions to sawing a woman in half ? but professional wow-ist Steve Spill has concocted clever skits, often with his beguiling assistant Eleanora, that add to the drama. ?Impossible!? exclaims Nipper as three rings collected from audience members are linked ? for real! ? and then somehow unconnected by Mr. Spill. And when Eleanora elegantly rises and floats midair above a couch, we?re all believers. Seeing a good magician pull a quarter from a kid?s ear has endured because, if you?re willing to give in to the wonder, even grown-ups can feel like a kid.
