Best Theatre in Whittier
by lxmadrid at Citysearch
Whittier Village Cinema is a gem! There are no theatres in the greater Whittier area that provide a better b@ng for your buck without being one of those dollar jobs with the sticky floors that haven't been cleaned in a decade.
Owned and independently run, the Whittier Village has survived earthquakes and tougher economic times (that have seen other stores come and go) all the while still offering solid first run movie experience at a great price!
My girlfriend and I only go to Whittier Village and the Arclight on Sunset if that gives you any indication of its overall quality.
- Pros: Great Prices. Updated Theatres.
- Cons: Only one location
Cozy little theater

Great place to see movies. Any show before noon is 4 bucks. Cant beat it. Ample parking and new renovations with stadium seating. Being an independent theater = lower food and movie ticket prices. On most weekends they have a free kids movie like TMNT etc.
- Pros: prices
- Cons: dont always have the best movie selection

One of the rare independently owned theatres in Whittier, this neighborhood cinema comes complete with restored '30s architecture, a friendly staff and old-school movie previews.
Friendly, neighborhood theatre

The theatre is located in Uptown Whittier, a nice, historical looking spot, filled with many unique shops and eateries...the theatre itself is okay...not big but the prices are lower compared to AMC or Edward's....and everyday before 6 pm, ticket prices are only 6 bux!! they have your common snacks, but i do think the nacho chips taste better here...seats are not too comfy, kinda small but really no complaints.
- Pros: cheap ticket prices
When did it go downhill?

The Whittier Village Cinema was, at one time, my favorite theatre. They used to have about half big movies and the other half were all indie flicks. The place is okay now with all the big movies because they kept (so far) their same low ticket prices. I especially liked the 10am or noon shows for about $5 no matter which movie you are seeing. My favorite part of this theatre, which remains unchanged, is the seats with optional arm rests so it's like a big couch (big enough to lay down if not crowded)... those are very cool.
Well, I guess this place isn't so bad I'm just upset that they got rid of the independant films, it still is a pretty cool place though.
- Pros: early shows, optional arm rests, inexpensive
- Cons: glitch in audio, alittledirty, notbad, had better shows
