If you are looking for the worst customer service possible, you've found it

by aj1908

On this past Friday night a group of co-workers and myself decided to do Happy Hour at Alegria. This was a fatal mistake. The customer service was the worst. But hey some people like that hands off approach. I thought at one point that maybe this is a self service restaurant, make your own drink and make your own food. Anywho, when my friends and I arrived, part of our party was already there. You would think that the staff would have noticed new people joining and come over and offer a menu or at least ask if we would like something to drink. They did not, instead we ended up having to go to the bar. The bartender completely ignored us, I had to constantly ask him for assistance. We ended up with a waiter who at least put in our orders for us. By the way, the Mojito the bartender made was the worst, all lime. I then requested a pint of Sangria, it was decent. Even though a lot of money was being spent, they came over and told our party that the seats we were in were reserved and we would have to move outside. Here's what I did not understand, they had reserved markers on some of the tables in the restaurant, but not on the ones we were at, but hey, we moved our party to Smooth's Sports Bar and got great customer service. So in conclusion, if you are expecting great customer service at this place, please don't you will be in for a rude awakening!

  • Pros: ambience (and that's all that's good about this restaurant)
  • Cons: no motivation to deliver outstanding customer service, bad attitudes by waitstaff

Do not eat here unless you want to be disappointed

by janesgardenia

I went to Alegria with my husband just to try it out. My husband made a reservation well in advance, but when we got there, we were seated by the door which had a strong draft and was out of view of the flamenco show. Afterwards is when the disaster started: We ordered 3 items from their menu. When the food was ready, the first entree accidentally went to the table next to us. When the guests refused it, the waitress brought it to our table. Our second item also went to another wrong table, but the guests ate it anyways. After about 30 minutes of waiting and sipping our drinks, we complained that we hadn't received our food. They waitress quickly realized the mistake and resubmitted the order. The food was quickly remade and brought out. Only, the food (combo tapas) made Del Taco taste like cuisine. The tapas consisted of nachos, cheese cubes, prosciutto, bland calamari, etc. By this time, we totally lost our appetites and wanted to leave. When we told the waitress that we wanted to cancel our final item, she checked and found that they didn't even start making it, which was over an hour into our arrival. Bad!!! Do not eat here unless you want to be disappointed.

  • Pros: Flamenco Dance, if you even get a table that is in view
  • Cons: The service makes you feel neglected and food was below average

One of my favorites

by mkek

I have nothing but good things to say about this resturant. I've been there for lunch, dinner, and late night at the bar. The best value has to be lunch but their dinner is affordable. Wait staff and hostess are usually polite and courtieous. I went on a raining night one time was pleasently suprised to see the flamenco dancing and nice music. My favorite dish has to be the mole enchiladas. If you still at the bar and take a look around, you'll see how unique the decor is.

Scary Crowd Weekend Nights

by buunbury

Alegria's is a nice place with lots of potential. Not truly a Spanish (Spain) restaurant per say, but most of the food is good/average. Tapas? Have not heard of many good reviews.

I frequent Alegria's for lunch once or twice per week. The lunch menu is simple, affordable, and mostly tasty.

Weekend nights are the worst! It's too crowded and the crowd is totally unprofessional and sometimes scary. That's what you get with Long Beach's Pine St: A hip hop crowd that tends to lean more on the violent side.

DON'T BOTHER GOING...

by sandracaters

My boyfriend and I were excited and hungry. I wanted Tapas... and asked for Tapas. The server recommeded their cobo appetizer platter. It was total disgusting. I not sure how this restaurant obtained it's high rating but it was all gross.

THE BEST!

by byrdeeo

THE BEST tapas I'd ever had. The wait wasn't long without making reservations. They have live band that plays marenge and salsa music after 11pm. The service was great and I'm very content. For desert, try the tres leches cake. Heavenly

  • Pros: food, atmosphere, music
  • Cons: , loud, crowded

Hella Happy Hour!

by dick_holder

Alegria's happy hour is very good. Their $2 dollar margaritas and Sangria are sooo good. Be careful, it's easy to get trashed without even knowing it!
