Home-furnishings wonderland stocks contemporary housewares for tabletop, kitchen, living room and more; in-store and online registry makes gift giving easy.

In Short
This specialty-housewares chain offers an enticing mix of seasonal and year-round goods: kitchenware, bone china and earthenware dishes, bath accessories, throw pillows, glassware of all shapes and purposes. Most items boast clean lines and an urban-contemporary twist, setting the merchandise apart from more rustic competitors like Pottery Barn and Restoration Hardware. The variety of available styles--from country kitchen to urban contemporary--will satisfy many tastes.
Another foodie stop for me

A lot of people visit Crate & Barrel for the bedding and decorating items...for me...Crate & Barrel is all about the crisp white cafe tableware and the matching kitchen gadgets/utensils. I also love their glassware. More often than not, I'll buy online these days...but when I'm wandering around Old Town, I will definitely stop in at Crate & Barrel.
It aint what it used to be.

Incompetent, rude management obviously sets example for staff w/bad morale. Associates like robotic drones, managers always irritable& frenetic.
Don't know what happened with salesfloor merchandising. Recently, it's a 'little' cleaner - but throughout 2005 a disaster. No flow/ point to where things placed; as if product displayed wherever they found room for it.
Upsatirs furniture level like schizophrenic experience; staff there friendlier, well managed. Just a year ago, downstairs level ran like well-oiled machine with friendly, helpful staff. There must have been huge staff turnover because all the great people there are gone, mostly unrecognizable now.
Now it's either formerly great people who've fallen under dark depression cloud, or ones unlikable in the first place (now mysteriously running things). Store ghost town compared to before, but when busy, like hellish zoo.
Choose Target instead; similar product@ better prices. Other reviews positive because they're from 2002. Not the same anymore.
- Pros: Location, Good Product, No longer crowded
- Cons: Unstable Management, Depressed Staff, Salesfloor a Disaster
Casual Living and Cooking with Style

I love Crate & Barrel, everything they have is beautiful and very utilitarian. They have a wonderful selection of baking accessories and ware that are very durable. The prices are pretty reasonable as well. The staff at this store is very friendly. I've been in countless times and every time I've had a question they were more helpful. Always offering ideas or other options. Their furniture is lovely as well. Also, I love their store online, for quick gift certificates and catalogs. The only thing I would say is bothersome is the parking. Other than that, I highly recommend this store.
- Pros: Style, Baking Products, Customer Service
- Cons: Parking
Something for Everyone

Crate & Barrel doesn't have the most unique furniture, but most of it is well made for the price. The store merchandises well and they do have some knock-offs of more expensive designer brands. It's more upscale and substantial than IKEA.
Large store with everything you need
by daisygirl at Citysearch
Crate and Barrel is a great store because it carries everything from practical kitchen utensils to elegant barware to beds and sheets. People complain that the store is overpriced, but I have found that they have very high quality products. The only complaint I have about this location is they close earlier than most of the other Old Town shops, and since Old Town is a prime date location, they are often closed when the crowds are largest.
Impeccable Delivery Service

I ordered a couch from Crate & Barrel and was very impressed by their delivery service. Three days prior to the delivery date, they called me with a 3-hour window in which they would deliver. On the date of delivery, the movers called 1 hour in advance to let me know that they were on their way. 45 minutes later, my couch was unwrapped and positioned perfectly in my living room. Crate & Barrels quality furniture is worth the wait (typically takes 6-8 weeks for delivery if not in stock) and is absolutely gorgeous. I will definitely order my next piece from them.
- Pros: customer service
- Cons: expensive furniture
