The thing that makes this park great are all the activities that are planned for the young and old alike. They have docent led walks with information on flora and fauna. They also have moonlight walks. I've never personally been on the moonlight walk, but my friend has and says it's beautiful. I think the one thing that I can attribute the greatness of this park would be the volunteers, and staff. Great Job!
Pros: Docent Walks, Moonlight Walks, well kept grounds

Great place for families. We enjoy the 1/4 mile hike to the hidden waterfall. The pool is just big enough and shallow enough for a quick soak. Kids will like standing under the falls and taking a "shower". We've seen snakes in the water, frogs, bats and even skunks! Bring lots of water, sunscreen and hats are a must, a towel and dry socks. The Nature Center is a nice place for the kids as well.
Pros: rocks for scrambling, all kids of nature, good parking
Cons: gets very hot, watch for snakes, graffitti on boulders

I'm a regular hiker of Eaton Canyon, Chantry Flats and the Mt. Wilson Trail (above Baldwin Dr.) Eaton Canyon to Henniger Flats is a great hike and a good challenge for a midlevel hiker--not good for a beginner. Trail is wide and generally dirt after a pass through the Canyon Wash. It is very sunny and hot. Be sure to take water.

Eaton Canyon has a great museum where the kids can look at animal displays, look at burned items salvaged when the previous museum was consumed in the canyon fire, play with puppets, etc. A really nice place for the kids. Also, the walks are easy, with plenty of river rocks for the kids to throw for hours. Would recommend bringing water and be very careful if it looks like a storm. You don't want to get caught if the water level rises.
Pros: easy hike, oak grove
