Go there Sunday, Monday or Wednesday and order the Broasted Chicken Special. They have a unique flavored breading but it's good. Also have Bar.
- Pros: Good Food, Big Selection
- Cons: Hmm Can't recall
Best Subs In LA here at Matt Giamela's Lamplighter
by LissaII at Citysearch
Matt Giamela from Giamela's puts extra care and time into these awesome subs. Ive been going to Lamplighter for years and happy to see you can get Giamela's subs here now. Lamplighter serves the best breakfast in the valley. My favoirte is the chicken and egg omelete.
- Pros: Giamela's Sub Sandwiches & Excellent Breakfast Selection
Delicous healthy food & excellent wait staff

So I went into the Lamplighter on desoto & nordhoff for breakfast a couple of weeks ago and saw they had a whole section for the healthy eatin'. I ordered a work out deck that comes with egg whites and chicken breast. It was delicous, eggs were cooked perfectly, not to soft and not to hard. The famous sub shop "Giamela's" took over Lamplighter a while ago and definitely added some flavor here. Matt Giamela said they were making there subs here now. If you haven't tried a Giamela's sub go to Lamplighter and order a pepper steak. This puts Lamplighter now on my top 5 favorite restaurants in valley.
- Pros: Serving Giamela's Subs
Super friendly staff, extensive menu, not too crowded

We stumbled across this great restaurant one afternoon; it is not in a highly traveled area, so it wasn't too busy, however the service and the food were outstanding. Great value (under $10 per person) for lunch, and generous portions made this place a new favorite for us. Their eggs benedict is fantastic, and so are many of their deli sandwiches. If you're tired of the lines at some of the other delis and diners in the valley, hop over to this place!
- Pros: Friendly staff, big portions, great value
- Cons: A little out of the way (but worth the trip!)
Giamela's Submarine Sandwiches are now served HERE!!

When the famous Giamlela's Sandwiches on Deering closed to find a new location, no one knew where they went. I found them.. INSIDE THE LAMPLIGHTER.
Aside from the Lamplighters menu of traditional coffeee house breakfasts, lunch and dinner entrees, they have a separate menu featuring Giamela's full sandwich menu.
A 6-in tuna sandwich topped with diced onions, pickles and tomatos is only $5.50, but for 45-cents more you can get a footlong big enough for 2 hearty eaters or 3 small eaters. These are meaty sandwiches unlike Subway.
Lots of parking, giant counter to have a morning cup of coffeee and read a paper, and plenty of seating.
- Pros: Best submarine sandwiches in town, easy parking, great prices
