A+ for Educational Therapy

by nygiantsca at Citysearch

The Learning Center is the best thing I have ever done for my daughter's education. She's 14 years old and struggles very badly with attention problems in school. Her attention problems have gotten in the way of reading, understanding, and have lowered her self esteem because her grades began to drop. BUT THEN, I brought her to The Learning Center and met a wonderful Educational Therapist that quickly turned a lot of my daughter's difficulties around. The therapist gave her skills to help her redirect her attention back to her work when she gets distracted. She also really helped her improve her reading speed and understanding. Bringing my daughter to The Learning Center was the best thing I ever did!

  • Pros: wonderful educational therapist
  • Cons: meter parking

The Learning Center helped my son get into college

by marlene22 at Citysearch

The Learning Center is a wonderful place. It really helped my son do much better in school. I sent him there for educational therapy for his last 2 years of high school and it was amazing how much they were able to help him. Now he's in college and he's getting all A's and B's. They really helped him make an easy transition from high school into college. They even helped him with his college applications. He also received a lot of help with his SAT's. I have only great things to say about the Learning Center.

  • Pros: Great educational therapists and easy location
  • Cons: $100 a session - but it was worth it

Amazing Tutoring Center

by mpoppins22 at Citysearch

This place did wonders for my son. He was diagnosed with Asperger's and had a very difficult time with reading comprehension. His tutor really helped him work on attending to the material and comprehend written work. She also helped him become a great note taker.

  • Pros: Very educated and friendly people working there
  • Cons: none!

Best School For Kids with Disabilities

by stevejohansen at Citysearch

The Learning Center has been amazing for my daughter. She is in 8th grade but her math and reading comprehension were both severely degraded - She was in 6th grade math class and was in 8th grade English class but getting a D. We went to TLC and they tested her to find out what her problems were - which is when I found out about the reading comprehension issues. Then, they set her up with two different teachers who worked on exactly what she needed help on - three times a week she was getting help. They gave me progress reports and continued to test her in these areas to see that we were making progress. It took about 6 months for the reading comprehension and 9 months for the math. But she is kicking butt now! She stayed in school the whole time and has kept all of her friends and just got the help she desperately needed.

Thanks Dee!

Steve

  • Pros: They targetted her problems and worked with her to fix them
  • Cons: getting her to TLC after her regular school was an issue - so we started doing classes at home - the bus already dropped her off at home so that was easy.

Helped my son

by samdeskin at Citysearch

My son was having serious problems in school (he was 3 years behind in math and reading) and I tried Sylvan and Huntinton and neither of them would spend the amout of time it took to get my son up to speed. This school, The Learning Center, does one teacher with one student classes. It took about a year to catch him up, but it worked. Now he is getting better grades than he was from before he fell behind - they taught him how to study as well and how he learns so he does not have to spend as much time studying. He is a bit impatient when he does not catch on quickly...

  • Pros: The classes are one teacher with one student. We started out at TLC, but as time went on it became more convenient to do the classes at home and that was very convenient
  • Cons: It costs about $60 per hour for classes, but I guess that is okay since the teachers that taught the classes were pros - credentialled teacher
