Magic Mountain used to be a great park even though I'm not a roller-coaster fan. The coasters are great and people love 'em, but lots of folks no longer choose to go to Magic Mountain because it's no longer a clean family park. I live in the SCV and wouldn't dare being near the park after-dark. It's a great place for thugs and teens whose parents don't give a hoot about what their kids are doing or where they're going. Rides are great and the transformation for Halloween is really cool, but I no longer feel safe and doubt I'll be going back until Six Flags works on restoring the park for the folks that have disposable income to spend: adults with families. No parent wants to take their kid to a place taken over by gangsters.

Pros: Thrill Rides Galore

Cons: No Longer Safe

I worked at MM for eight years growing up. It was still to this day the best job I have ever had. On a recent trip back to the park with my kids I was shocked. The park is dirty, run down, and needs up dated. With so much money going into these rides every year why not skip a year and clean the place up. Make it a place where famalies want to go to. You already have the best rides around and the people will come back. Dirty park or not, but try focussing on the real issue. The people in your own community dont even want to visit anymore. How SAD is that. Clean it, Paint it, Up date it, and then get enouhg security in the park to make it safe for people to enjoy it. And get rid of the water park. That is a waste.

Pros: The Rides

Cons: The place is filthy

then this is the place to go....and not just see action, like you would in Universal Studios, but actually experience it! I love this place but I love their rollercoasters the most. Other places only offer you one or two great rides that are worth fretting for before you get on the ride, but when I come here, I have to think twice about going on. There are long lines and over-priced food items and drinks, but what other theme park doesn't. There are not too many little kids or strollers attacking you and the rides are all worth it. Too bad it's just kinda far from where I live.

Pros: fast rides

Cons: expensive food/drinks

I love the rides and the kids area - but am offended that for the amount I pay for the entrance and the high cost of bad food then we have to pay $15 for parking on top of it! Also, they have the worst customer service. Everyone working there seems to hate their job and hate that you're there making them actually work. I don't trust the people running the rides - they all look like hung-over, high school drop outs. If you can get past the customer service, don't mind the cost, eat before and after you attend the park, you will get a thrill of a lifetime with all the choices of rollercoasters. (As long as you don't go when they have a lot of rides closed and the lines are so long you only get to go on 3 or 4 the whole day.)

Pros: The rides

Cons: Everything else

As Magic Mountain's list of attractions expands, its aesthetic quality seems to decline. It's an inverse relationship that troubles me. As a rollercoaster enthusiast, I love going here, but as a human being with a sensitivity toward to the unkempt, I hate going here. Someone needs to reinvigorate this place.

The park is really run down. Haven't been here in 20 yrs and the bathrooms are old, faucets are the turn handle kind, push handle toilets when other places are using sensor lights. Dining options are expensive, poor quality food and facilities are old. A corn dog and fries (no drink) cost over $8! For the price, the food value is better at Disneyland! I sat at an indoor table where with 4 eateries and no one wiped the dirty tables for over 45 mins, unlike at Disneyland. The park is full of teens working a summer job and don't care about their work. However, it is a great place for teens who love roller coaster rides. I got nauseated riding "Ninja", but these rides are not my cup of tea. The water rides really get you wet, you're wet for hours until the heat dries you off! "Tansu" was an outrageous 3 hrs wait from start to finish. They need to update and "Fast Pass" their rides. Rumors are that Magic Mtn is looking for a buyer. That can only translate to mean financial difficulties. Parking will cost you $15/day and if you don't arrive early, it's hard to find a parking space. The walk from the parking lot to park is quite a distance and the tram doesn't run very often.

Pros: Roller coaster rides that attract teenagers

Cons: Run down facilities, especially bathrooms. Not a very clean park, expensive food

This is the best theme park. There's a lot of rides to go on. And for those of you who like milder rides they have a whole section of the park with rides and they even have a different section for little kids too! The rides I recommed you to go on are X, Deja Vu, and Goliath. They do have height restrictions most of which are 53". Be sure to wear shoes and not flip flops (I had a bad incident in which they came off while on a roller coaster) and bring spare clothes (they have lockers to store belongings in) becuase some of the rides get you extremely wet.

Pros: Great Rides, Parking, Lockers

Cons: Long Lines, Expensive Food

Magic Mountain is a definitely geared to satisfy the real roller coaster enthusiast. With so many coasters to choose, the thrills never stop. X is one of a kind. The individual seats spiral as you speed up and down unexpected curves and twists. You have not rode a coaster until you have experienced Goliath. Wear comfortable shoes. Enjoy the California weather. Have fun, we sure did!

Pros: weather , Open almost annually

I like a ride that rawks; that is engineered for speed, thrills and safety. All of Magic Mountain's coasters are- and do just that! Of course, if your endorphine aren't high just from looking at the rides, then you probably won't like many great theme parks. Another great park to go to is Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio, for all you coaster enthusiasts- young and old.

Pros: thrill coasters, location, atmosphere

Cons: poor sanitation, can get crowded, hot climate

Nerve-burning, stomach-churning coasters make it the undisputed capital of Southland thrill rides.  See the full editorial review.

Insider Tips

When to Go

Locals know that Super Bowl Sunday is the best day for an outing. Hardly any people show, so you practically have the park to yourself. Expect long lines and sweltering weather during summer.
