The Scene
Rivulets of moisture trickle down the two-story windows, clouded with steam generated by 200 people punching, kicking and shuffling to the chipmunk-speed soundtrack. Blanks devotees come in all shapes and sizes, clothed in fashion-Lycra and shredded sweat suits, seeking motivation from Billy Blanks' celebrity status. The converted are undaunted by the smell of sweat and mildew, utilitarian bathrooms, and the grinding boot-camp vibe.

The Details
The main attraction is the large Tae-Bo floor. Carpeted in deep red, it's springboard soft and easy on the knees. Don't expect much else. Place your belongings in cubbyholes in the back; there are no locker rooms, showers or towels. Specialty classes such as kickboxing and boxercise are held in the basement room. The third floor has weights, a few cardio machines, and a karate room. The second floor is dedicated to child care, which is available during peak hours.

The best workout of my life. I always feel an absolute rush afterwards. It really focuses on your whole body but especially your rear end.
