What happened to this place?

We have purchased many pieces of furniture from The Barn over the years; they have always had quality pieces and fantastic customer service. We've also passed the word around and told many of our family and friends. However, the customer service has lately been rapidly declining with the prices going on a sharp incline. One particular example is when we had our last straw a few weeks ago. We were looking to buy a desk, and went about 1 month prior just to look at prices. The one that I liked was $600, on sale and for $400. However, we didn't have our big car to fit it. So, we decided to come back the next weekend with our truck and buy it then. As my husband and I were discussing what to do the gentlemen that worked there said, "you better buy it now b/c this is our last one, we aren't making anymore, and it will be gone by next week." My husband and I knew he was just trying to make a sale right away, and was not being truthful. We were disappointed, but we liked the desk. When we went back, the exact same desk was of course there, and was now marked at $1000, on sale for $650. What!!! I asked the gentlemen who was there that day, "What happened? Everything seems priced very high." (we were also looking for a hutch). His response, "we've changed, now we make our products with real oak." Excuse Me! What were you making your furniture with last week???? We walked right out of the store and will now NEVER return. There are plenty more places to buy nice quality furniture around here that actually deserves business. My prediction, If The Barn doesn’t change their approach towards customer service they will be closed within 1 year.

Customer Service is POOR

The furniture seem well made and the prices are decent, but don't plan on getting what you order in a timely manner. We called to order furniture for our new home in February. We were told they had it, no problem, it could be shipped in two days and we should just wait until March to order it. We then ordered it in early March to be delivered to the new home. Here it is May and we STILL don't have the damn furniture. We had house guests that got to sleep on the floor or a sofa since these people can't seem to deliver what they promised in a timely manner.

The item they thought they had in stock was mislabeled or some such nonsense and we've been waiting for a VERY slow boat from China or someplace for months.

When I attempted to see if they provide a discount on the shipping to compensate for their delay it was a big "NO". Most places like Amazon will give you free shipping when there is a big delay. Trust me if Amazon had a similar piece of furniture I'd have it by now!

Personally I'd take my business else where, but I was over ruled.

So if you like extremely poor to non-existent customer server, then this is the place for you!
