LISA ... I cant believe how pretty i feel
by mdemont_2 at Citysearch
I went to Capella Salon on a him about a year ago. What a truly delightful experience it has been each and every time. Lisa has been very consistent, and the salon doesn't have that snotty salon vibe. I have sinus problems, and can I say the shampoo...wow! I always feel a little less congested. But, back to Lisa. What a delight she is. She takes her time, and actually talks with me every time. My color isn't mixed up before I walk in the door.
- Pros: I always feel very special
Best Stylist for Curly hair!!
by Yeshuais4me at Citysearch
Ever since reading Lorraine Masseys book "Curly Girl The Handbook" I have taken a whole new approach on how to care for my curls. I began to understand why my haircuts from every salon I ever have been to turned out so bad for my curls (I would always end up straightening my hair until my hair grew out to wear it curly again).
When me and my girlfriends from Alaska started planning a trip to Los Angeles, California, I began to wonder if any of Lorraine Massey's deva cut special salons were in the area. So I googled it, and lo and behold Capella Salon popped up with plenty of amazing reviews. I knew this was going to be a one time cut for me (Alaska's not exactly close), so I wanted the best stylist I could get to cut my hair. After a little research I found that Shai Amiel, the owner of Capella Salon, was the most qualified and had the best reviews to cut the curls! Me and my girlfriends were sooo blown away by the customer service provided by Shai and his personal assistant Annie. They went way above and beyond! We all work in Alaska as full time volunteers that go in to the Native villages and do camps and conferences and speak all over Alaska (www.tgmalaska), and Shai was very supportive and charitable to our cause! Plus! I am learning Hebrew, and he is Jewish and we were able to speak back and forth to each other! Double bonus for me! My curls felt soooo soft and voluminous! Healthier than ever before! They deep conditioned my hair, and took the time to tell me what they were using in my hair, and how I could recreate the look easily. If I lived closer, Capella Salon and Shai Amiel would definitely be seeing this curly girl again!

Charming salon with a terrific group of talented stylists. Everyone is super accommodating. It has a great atmosphere and is reasonably priced. They are all outstanding with color and cuts. Book early!!

From the reception desk to the stylists, everyone there is professional and friendly. You won't find anyone with attitude here, just great, smart people who know what they're doing.
found a great hairdresser

Maddison at capella is great with color, cut & style. I was so lucky to find her, and she is also fun to be around when you get your hair done.
I highly reccomend her, it is difficult to find someone who is great with color and bleach, I get compliments on my hair all the time.
The salon is comfortable and friendly.
LOVE my new look!

Talk about scared! Here I am newly re-located to LA with no clue about what’s where, in desperate need of a visit to my hairstylist, and he’s 3000 miles away in my old hometown! What’s a girl to do? Do I hop on a plane? Or take my chances? Then I remembered Citysearch!
Thank you Citysearch for leading me to my new hairstylist (and savior), Kristen at Capella Salon! She managed to squeeze me in for a consultation on what to do with my less than lovely color, and gave me some fabulous ideas on a new look for a new town.
I came in a few days later and before I knew it, there was this really sexy girl with gorgeous highlights staring back at me in the mirror! Before blow drying my hair, Kristen made some styling suggestions, and asked me if I could have any type of look what would I go for? So I told her my secret wish was thicker, fuller hair. A bit longer too, since my fine hair always seems to break off before it gets long enough. She asked if I had ever considered extensions, which I had, but didn’t like the fake look and worried about the damage. She assured me that she uses really high quality hair, (Hairdreams), and it is completely damage free, even on fine hair. Then she showed me some before and after photos. After seeing that, there was no turning back. I could hardly wait to get my new hair put in!
I came back a week later to get my extensions and when Kristen was finished, I couldn’t believe the difference it made. I looked like myself, just way better, and with the hair I should have been born with. Thanks Kristen! I absolutely LOVE my new look!

Keyonna never lets me down, I always walk out with a smile on my face. When she cut my hair, it was at exactly the length I had requested and she listens. Such a sweet person and you don't spend half the day waiting to see her because she does not overbook.

Hey girls! I hate to have to admit this but my hair was just blah… you know what I mean?! I really needed a change… I was just so over my color!!! I needed something new, something glamorous, something to turn the guys heads lol…
So I did what any self-respecting girl would do… I bought all the celebrity magazines and took a look at what’s HOT! I fell in love with this carmely brownish color with the most beautiful blondish highlights… I knew this was my new look!
Now I just had to find somebody to help me! I asked my friend who always has fabulous hair who’s her stylist and she told me about Kristen at Capella Salon. So I called Kristen and told her about my hair emergency and she was sooooo great! She really listened and understood what I was talking about and we scheduled an appointment for my transformation.
I was kinda nervous when I first sat in her chair ‘cause I’ve never done anything major with my hair like this before, but Kristen was so sweet and wonderful I felt right at home! She looked at the pictures I brought in, explained what she would have to do and then got started. Time went by so fast and a few hours later when I looked into the mirror I couldn’t believe how gorgeous my hair looked! My girlfriends all love my new look and I’m sooooo happy I couldn’t wait to hit the clubs and celebrate! Kristen is just the best and if you wanna do something great for your hair you gotta go see her!
Best highlights
Contributor at Citysearch
I always had a problem finding a hair stylist who could give me highlights without looking like a zebra. Zsofi @ Capella gave me the best highlights EVER! Looks very natural, no stripes. She puts a lot of effort in it, she is the master of what she does. She is a wonderful and talented europen stylist! And she is super sweet!!!
There's a reason this salon gets nominated over and over

I came to Shai Amiel and his Capella Salon in a professional capacity in August of 2007. I was assigned that year the review of a shortlist of hair stylists who were supposed to be excellent with all types of curly hair, from wavy to kinky. In my research, I discovered the Deva Cut (which is done dry and in the hair's natural state), and Shai was supposedly the best in Los Angeles to do it.
Not expecting much, I got everything I wanted. Since then, I've stayed with this salon and experimented with highlighting specifically for curly/wavy hair where in specific strands are colored to highlight the movement of curl. Amazing. The haircuts using this technique are so good, I often walk out without needing styling (though when I do, it too is great--they also SHOW you how to style curly hair, which many do not). And though I am a curly girl, Shai and his staff can do any hair type, and Shai is a master at color, taking a friend of mine from blonde to China-Doll black--and you'd never know.
The salon itself is lovely. Right off Ventura Blvd. with parking in back, you walk into wooden floors and a lot of light and space. They have products not easily found in LA in their retail area (Deva, Moroccan Oil, Davines, etc.). I also believe they have WiFi.
Though it is my job to test various beauty services in LA, I have forgone making money in testing haircuts because I do not want anyone messing up what Shai has done. You must experience this salon, and the Deva Cut by Shai if you're a curly girl, at least once.
