Found Indira... she is happy

by jentanaka

I have been coming here for years and Indira has always taken her time with me, I asked where she was they said she was on vacation and she was sick but on my last visit they said she quit the service is not what it used to be. There is the feeling I am being rushed but I found Indira she and some of her friends and family opened their own salon Wow Beauty Center at 10836 Washington Blvd in Culver City 310 559 1900 I found a flyer on my car and she is still friendly and sweet she didn't say anything bad about Ziba... but she is Happier now

  • Pros: in a mall
  • Cons: missing their best artist

Do NOT go to Ziba Beauty Center

by JanetHar

I can't believe what a horrible job they did on my brows. I was told not to go by a friend and I should have listened. I figured since they were right outside of Nordstroms they may be good. Boy was I wrong. I will never go back to this place after I read what the owner does to her employees. It's unbelieveable.

  • Pros: None
  • Cons: Everything about this place is a con. Sumita Batra is the reason why it's so bad.

Need their old stylist back!

by axf10

I went to Ziba salon today and their absolute best threating artist, Indira has left.(apparently because they would not pay her enough). She was amazing and I would LOVE to track her down. I have difficult eyebrows and she did an amazing job with them. Any one has any info on her? PLEASE?

TERRIBLE!!!!!!

by believe22

This has got to be one of the worst run establishments around. You would think that after opening so many locations, they would have a clue as to how to properly run the business. Not the case. I tried to go in as a walk-in for a waxing service twice. The first time they said they only had one waxer (only two waxers work there) and she was booked, which was fine. The second time, there was nobody there to wax., I guess both waxers got the day off...smart scheduling! So, I decided to make an appointment. Just when I thought I was actually going to get this service done....I got a call 20 minutes before my appointment on a Saturday (which is the busiest day and they should not only have it together, but have a full staff). The "manager" who is no more than 18 years old advised me that they would not be able to do my service as the waxer had gone home. I asked if the other waxer could do it and they said she was not there. I had spent so much time trying to find parking at the busy mall on a Saturday and they only thought to call me 20 minutes before my appointment? I guess this is what you get from a low-end, poorly run organization. Also, they are not great with threading either. I only went once for my eyebrows a few months back as a walk-in. I not only had to wait forever to get in, but the service was terrible. The woman almost took off entire eyebrow. Pencil thin is not "IN" for everyone. This place is only good for one thing....giving you a big headache from all of the hassle they cause.

Terrible eyebrow threading experience

by bebeflor

I have been to the one in Artesia but my eyebrow threader went to the one in Glendale, I don't want to frive there so I thought since it's Ziba it should be good.WRONG!!! she made my eyebrows sooo thin. Also the shape is not defined.I am still in search of the right person.

Go to the one in Artesia

by joannajpark

The Ziba in Artesia is much better. But the one in Pico, you're taking a HUGE risk. Sometimes you get a decent eyebrow thread and sometimes, it's horrible. Oh and definitely don't try the waxer here, she had no idea what she was doing and she didn't do a good job. So try it if you're feeling lucky. Otherwise, find another place.

  • Pros: Cheap
  • Cons: Taking a huge risk, long wait

Sloppy, untrained hit-or-miss

by cgail

I had been going to Ziba because I didn't know where else to go in LA for threading and waxing. Out of the 5 times I have been there (3 times for threading, 2 for waxing my arms) only 2 experiences have been positive overall. Twice I had my eyebrows threaded by totally incompetent women. The first time I let it slide, but the second time, the woman messed up my brows SO severely that it took 2.5 months to re-grow them to a point where I didn't look off centered/cross-eyed. The worst part was that she argued with me, saying I was even when she had taken off SIGNIFICANT PORTIONS from the middle and end of my eyebrows. The management offered to fix it, but the only fix was/is to NEVER GO BACK THERE FOR EYEBROWS-- at least not with this woman (can't remember her name, this happened in October). Of the 2 waxing experiences, once was perfectly normal and fine-- no complaints. The second time I went there, this SLOPPY SLOPPY Asian woman who must have never BEEN waxed, much less have knew anything about waxing, went through 2 containers of wax (for those in the know, a good waxer will use only half of 1 container), dripped sticky gooey messes of wax everywhere (I went home and found globules on my jeans-- which had been placed no where NEAR the treatment area) and she took 45 minutes to do what I normally get done in about 15 minutes. She was ridiculous. Ziba apparently doesn't screen or train the people who they hire, because the level of sloppiness and incompetence is so high. I have discouraged people from going there only because their employees are completely hit-or-miss. There is no consistency in terms of skill.

  • Pros: Affordable threading, there is ONE threading women with sense
  • Cons: Generally sloppy and unskilled employees

Beware!

by michelleinla

I've had my eyebrows threaded and waxed many times and have never had a problem. I recently moved to LA, so I needed a new place to go. I was impressed by the reviews on this site, so I went to this salon. I called ahead and was told that Marco was there that day. When I arrived, I found out that he wasn't there, but they quickly hooked me up with one of the other "aestheticians," assuring me that she was a senior stylist and was also very good.

(Unfortunately I don't remember her name, but this "senior stylist" spent less than five minutes on my brows (usually takes at least 20 minutes) and her technique was pretty rough. I wasn't thrilled with the results, but I figured that at least she had cleaned up my brows somewhat, and I would just not come back again.

To my horror, as my brows started to grow back in, I ended up with a number of extremely painful ingrown hairs, something which has never happened to me before! Perhaps some of the aestheticians at Ziba are indeed good, but this is not a place where you can assume that that is universally the case.

I've had my brows waxed and threaded a million times. Several months ago I tried the place, my eyebrows looked nasty and I figured I had nothing to lose. I was pleasantly surprised; for $8 your brows can be absolutely perfect! Go to Indira, she is amazing! There may be a wait for her though, so be prepared.

  • Pros: perfect brows, inexpensive, clean
  • Cons: mall

Ziba is Not for the Weak-skinned

by cuesee

At Ziba, the decor is lovely and the atmosphere is one of a spa, but that's as far as it goes. The "threaders" were too rough. My friend and I came out with red inflamed skin, something that never happens to me. Only go if there is nowhere else for you to go.

  • Pros: Nice Decor, Clean
  • Cons: Harsh treatment, no followup
