Great 50's diner

by bigrob40 at Citysearch

This establishment delivers consistently good food with an authentic 50's diner feel. There are even working coin operated juke boxes! The employees will even give you nickes so that you can choose some music! The burgers are flawless and the fries are fabulous. The shakes are nice and thick and usually give you more in another cup. It works out great if you are going to the movies and have a few minutes to eat.

  • Pros: Burgers
  • Cons: Last time I checked, burgers are not that healthy for you... thats it!

A neon-lit trip back to the Eisenhower era comes with burgers, shakes and fries.

In Short
Vintage Coca-Cola ads and posters of Life magazine covers succinctly summon up the 1950s, as do this diner's mini-jukeboxes, red vinyl counter stools and sock-hopping staff. Besides fast food staples like hot dogs, cheeseburgers, tuna melts and onion rings, options like the Streamliner (a grilled veggie patty) acknowledge more modern dietary concerns. Even better for kids, sandwiches come wrapped in paper jackets and nearly everything is served on paper plates. No spills. No breaks. No tears.

Quick and Good

by netter1 at Citysearch

If you're looking for a decent burger at decent prices in Old Town, I would recommend Johnny Rockets. It's not the best burger around...and I definitely prefer the french fries at Jake's...but it's a fun "diner" experience and who doesn't like a place where the staff sings for you? Of course...they do make great shakes. Gotta love a place that serves ice cream. This location in Old Town Pasadena can get crowded...especially in the summer evenings when people are just wandering the alleys of Old Town.

Great service and cool food

by tyneshad at Citysearch

The servers here were very friendly and upbeat, which added to the overall 50s feel of the diner. The burgers were juicy and the chilli cheese fries were heavenly (I got mine without onions). They also had super thick milkshakes that almost made me collapse a lung. Good times...made me want to go home and watch Grease.

  • Pros: Great food and cheery service
  • Cons: Tough to find parking, just like everything else in Old Town
