Is this an Invoice scam?
by jasonace
My wife and I called from the phone book for the $35 ad and 30% off labor.
The guy walked in the door 2 hours late, walked to the fridge, stuck his finger in the back of the icebox and said $450. $275 if you want just the door.
I said $450! Wow, what's the labor charge. "We don't do that"
The repair for the door requires taking off the door (5 min) putting in something liek a washer, and putting the door back on. Total labor: 15min tops for a professional.
I called the general number from the phone book - same deal "We dont' charge by the hour - only by the job". No wonder - hourly costs run 400-600/hr.
Only reason I'm not cancelling the check is because it costs me another $15 and a headache to talk to Boris (The Owner) on why I think his company is an invoice revenue scam.
DONT CALL - SCAM IMO.
(I had to put one star...no stars is not an option.)
- Cons: got taken for $35
rip off price although get the work done
by lilkiki777
the repairman actually did a good job on repair my A/C unit. After all, it was not a hard thing to replace a capacitor, which you can usually get the part for under 50. they charged me 225 for the part. the guy only spend 10 min get the job done and asked 200 for the work. I regret letting him start doing the job, because I realized the part is a lot cheap elsewhere. The service guy is just rude. DON'T use them!!!
- Pros: repaired my A/C
- Cons: rip-off price
HORRIBLE COMPANY*DO NOT USE
by lilimarirob
This is a horrible company. I would have given them no stars, but you need to put one down. The service guy on the phone called me a liar and began screaming from the top of his lungs at me on the phone for no reason at all. I was calm during the conversation (was at work and was not allowed to scream back). Customers are last in their eyes. Money hungry crooks is what they are. Extremely horrible service. Will never use again. Rather buy a new refri. then have them work on it.
- Pros: NOTHING
- Cons: EVERYTHING
Top notch repair service
by daekim123
By far the best repair service that I have every used. Everyone from the technicians to the customer service representives were very informative, polite, and professional. I've used them for all of my kitchen and laundry appliances and not once have I been disappointed. Even this one time when something when wrong with the repair, I called them and the technician came back right away and corrected the problem. I've referred them to all of my friends and family members and they're all satisfied customers as well. They've got themselves a lifetime customer here.
- Pros: Technicians, Customer Service, Promptness
- Cons: None
Unprofessional company and technicians
by HuanKuan
This company and the technicians are very unprofessional. They will just give you a quote off the top of their head. I also found out that the 30% discount to new customers is just a tactic to attract new customers. When the guy was here, he wasn't even able to tell me how much the labor was going to be. He told me that he had already included the 30% discount in his quote. What I learned after using this company is "penny wise, pound foolish." I called them because they had a low estimate fee of $35 dollars. However, they ended up charging me outrageosly. I regret allowing the technician work on my fridge. Remember: DO NOT USE THEM!
They tried to rip me off. Dont call them.

This was my first time looking for a repair service. I looked on the internet trying to find a reputable repair service. I went with these guys because of the $35 estimate fee, and what looked like good reviews. That was a HUGE mistake. First, a repair guy came out and looked very unprofessional. He had me empty my freezer, he did absolutely nothing, and said that it would be $250 to fix. After a lot of back and forth trying to get him to tell me what was wrong, he said that it was an electrical issue and that he would have to come out the next day with a computer to fix it. We finall agreed on a price for $200.
The next day, he didn?t show. Instead a new guy came. He thought he was the first one diagnosing it. His conclusion was that I was out of FREON. I asked to make sure, and he confirmed it was the very expensive, no longer used FREON gas. This is a 1 year old fridge. At this point, I knew he was a fraud. He wanted $275 to fill it up with "Freon". When I declined that, he said that my estimate fee would be $55 and not $35 because he had to put a valve onto my refrigerant line to test the level. If I declined to pay, he was going to take it off and leave a hole in my line.
In the end, I only paid the $35, and I wouldn?t allow him to touch the fridge to take the valve off. I told him that he could call the cops if he had a problem with that. As a diagnosis, he was almost correct. After some checking, I found that the fridge uses r134. So, it took $15 for r134 to fix the problem, not $275 of "Freon".
In short, these people are frauds. DO NOT USE THEM.
Wouldn't use again & Wouldn't recommend to others

My fridge broke and I googled to find a reputable and trustworthy company to fix my fridge. GAR's website came up and when you visit their website, it looks very professional. However, it was not in reality. First of all, they say the technician would come between 3-5pm. He didn't show up until 4:50 pm. Turned out they had gotten the wrong number (duh!). Then the tecnician who showed up didn't look professional at all. He came in, asked what was wrong, while I was explaining, he ordered me to take eveyrthing out of the freezer and stopped listening to me. Then he looked at it for like 30 seconds, and gave me a quote - $225! I wasn't happy at that point, and mentioned that there was the 30% discount on labor advertised on their website. He then says the quote he gave me already included the 30% discount. (Yeah, right!). When I demanded a breakdown on how he came up with the $225 and which part is labor and which part covers the parts to be replaced, he started giving me random numbers, basically trying to substract from the full 225 he quote me on. When I tried to argue with him, he even tried to lecture me how most customers just accept the quote without asking him to break it down. (What a lie!)
I ended up allowing him to do the job ONLY BECAUSE I didn't want to go through the hassle of getting a second opinion. I knew it wasn't anything major and that he would be able to do the job fine. They do charge $35 for estimates. However, I would NOT use them again and would NOT recommend them to others. It always costs an arm and leg to have things repaired, and I'm fine with that. But along with what I pay, I also expect professionalism knowing that they are taking things seriously, and not having an attitude like "here's the quote, take it or leave it." I have used other companies' technicians and were very happy with the way they conducted business. It just was not the case with GAR because they make you feel like you've been taken advantage of.
Great Fridge Service, Quickly!
by Arpy2008
These guys are great! Aside from a momentary lapse of communication, they arrived basically on time (I may have misunderstood the time frame) and took care of my GE fridge problem immediately. In fact, the service guy was great about telling me how to maintain my fridge to keep it working properly. No extra charges, no trying to upsell me on parts or additional services, just good friendly service. I would not hesitate to call them again for appliance service.
- Pros: Easy to talk to and get scheduled almost immediatley.
- Cons: Somewhat difficult to reach someone, but leave a message and they call you back.
Sooooo patient and sweet!
by CountryGal444
Helped me fix my stove over the phone, for free. I'd call them again the next time I needed it fixed.
- Pros: saved me time and money
- Cons: had to leave a message, but they called me right back
replaced garbage disposal same day
by MissRainDrop
They replaced my broken garbage disposal within about two hours of my initial call. I will say that their prices were a bit above what others had quoted me over the phone, however, they were the only ones who could come out and get the job done right away. The 30% off labor coupon did eventually bring their price below most others. They also gave me a fairly lengthy warranty at no additional charge.
- Pros: came fast, long warranty
- Cons: price before discount was a bit above average but much better after 30% off labor
