This place is not worth staying at at any price

by JeffWilke1 at Citysearch

We paid a good deal of money for a place with no AC and told to lump it. "Leave your door open we were told. The elevators did not work well. The VIP room was not manned and had no drink service as advertised. Our room went uncleaned. We were told they would comp our food and beverage and they did not. We paid for an upgrade and they did not even comp that portion after we found out the hotel AC did not work. Simply put. They were terrible. Would not recommend to an enemy.

  • Pros: good food
  • Cons: bad hotel management

This hotel merges Old Hollywood with family-style comfort.

by Mar Yvette at Citysearch

After a complete revamp in 2008/2009, this four-star hilltop hotel has merged Old Hollywood glam with family-friendly comforts--a fitting mix considering it's walking distance (or a free shuttle ride away) from the "Entertainment Capital of L.A.," Universal Studios and CityWalk. Each of the 451 renovated guest rooms, decked out in soothing blues, browns and ivories, features the popular Sweet Sleeper bed and amenities such as Starbucks coffee, bottled water, Shine by Bliss bath products, a 32" LCD television and wireless Internet. The main lobby's art deco-inspired vodka bar and lounge, In the Mix, proves that cheap can be chic--the weekly happy hour (Mon-Fri) features 50 percent off all food and drinks from 4pm-7pm. Californias Restaurant, hidden below a winding staircase, highlights California-inspired cuisine, with signature dishes like the deliciously crisp pan-fried Chilean sea bass and the build-it-yourself Ultimate Star Burger menu,. (Think six different patty options and all the cheese, sauce and bun options you can handle.) But not to worry--calories can be burned in the sleek, fully outfitted fitness center that's open 24 hours a day.

Major Ant Problem and terrible service!!!

by benhamizzle at Citysearch

Wow, is what I have to say to the service I received when I notified them about the thousands of ants partying in my room. My wife and I came back to our room in the afternoon to take a rest and lo and behold and infestation of ants has swarmed the unopened (new) box of entenmans donuts we had in the room. This triggered a thought (when I was sleeping I thought I had an ear infection because my ear was bothering and making noises) now I realize I probably had an ant in my ear. I went to the front desk to report the problem and they said they would meet me in the room to inspect the problem. I went back to the room 10 minutes later still no one there. I went back to the front desk to ask for a manager and he came out and said they will take off the amount we paid for late check out ($100 until 6pm), and give us another room. I said I am actually disgusted and we are leaving soon anyway so we don't want another room. I asked is that all you are going to do? Being that I was a Starwood member I was shocked that they didn't even offer a meal comp at minimum (i was expecting a free stay for the one I just paid for or a future free stay) he said well we will pay for your donuts? Thats when I had to walk away because I was about to flip out on him. Apparently the hotel is well aware of this ant problem and either cant control it or chooses to ignore it. I spoke to a few other guests and they also saw ants around the hotel, maybe not as bad as my room but still that is disgusting! and the way they chose to handle the situation explains that they are well aware and cant afford to give everyone a credit. Bottom line, the service is horrible and given with an attitude and who wants to stay with an ANT any infestation

  • Pros: The remodel they did is nice
  • Cons: Major ANt problem terrible service
