Great Old Fashion Pastrami
by Pinkieforever
Why would anyone come from the 405 to the hood and expect to be catered to? It's the hood!! the servers are trying hard to get the orders right and out fast. Everyone knows that you come to a place on a corner, that's not a restaurant for the the Food (which is very good), not for the service. Especially if your are in the mood for an old fashion pastrami, not a kosher meal!!
HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE
by onestrongwoman
Unfortunatly I didnt have a plesant experience going to this place. when I walked up to the counter I was not greeted in a friendly matter the 2 ladies stared at me as if i didnt belong there. I was very upset because 1st of all no one should be racist!!!!! and especially if you work where you have to deal with people all day long you should not be rude. TREAT PEOPLE HOW YOU WOULD WANT TO BE TREATED!!!!!. When I got home to eat my food I discovered that they purposly gave me the fattiest pieces of meat that was surrounded by a bunch of grissle....... I couldnt even eat it because it was so gross!!!! I spent 11 dollars for something that tasted like crap because ofthe rude females that were working. not to mention the fries were hard the tea was watered down and i asked and paid for a peac h cobbler that i didnt get. I was Extremly dissatisfied with the food and service and will never be going there again!!!!!
Hand over the pastrami!

I can't rave enough about the pastrami and fries. Made right there in front of you, such a cozy place, you can literally smell the grill! They seat you down, ask what you want and the order is fulfilled so right! The chili fries are just to die for, not too salty or bland!
Order was extremely Horrible, and service....

So I am in the mood for a pastrami and my husband wants bbq. My dad refers us to Johnnie's on Adams St and says that they serve both! I was surprised when I arrived and saw that there was no door to go inside and the sign on the building states that customers have 30 minutes for parking.... (WOW)
I stand in line for about 15 minutes with only one person in front of me and the younger 40 yr old woman seems to be upset with me that I'm waiting to order. Finally, the much older woman who's also inside comes to take my order. I ask if they have bbq and she says "no". I then ask for two pastrami combos. The rude and over worked 40 year old begins to hiss and pout about my order. On my pastrami, I wanted ONLY meat & cheese. I guess she figured that it wasn't Burger King and I couldn't have it my way. While driving back home on I-405, my husband and I began to dig into our dinner and I realize that I payed $1.50 extra for cheese that I did not receive, and $10.55 for a combo in which the fries were beyond crispy burnt, and my raspberry ice tea was short of ice and tasted just like the smell of the area of this location.
So, all in all, this restuarant was not what I perceived it to be. It was far less!!! I will never go to this slop joint again. I probably could have gotten a better pastrami at the gas station down the block!!!
A young woman wrote that the service would be better if "we" tipped these women for their cooking. I disagree! I too have a job and I do not feel that I need to be tipped just because I'm serving you!!!! This is backwards, if you show respect to others, then you will receive it back!! (and a tip)
Find another Pastrami Joint!!!!
- Pros: The 4 "gangstas" waiting behind me looking into my purse
- Cons: Johnnie's Pastrami!!!!!
FABULOUS PASTRAMI
by teepezee
I just discovered Johnny Pastrami on Adams and I'm lovin it! I come all the way from Downey for what Johnnys is selling. The only complaint would be the food servers who need a course in customer service. Very bad attitudes with a side of cattiness, meow!!
- Pros: Open 24 hrs.
- Cons: Bad attitudes
Great food!

The neighborhood is all right and the food is fantastic! I have ordered the menu over the years and find it all great.
best pastrami
by soulgood
johnny's pastrami is great!! The service is pretty fast. You get plenty of meat in your sandwich. The location is bad, so try to phone order in(if they are too busy they won't take phone orders) The waitresses can be crabby, but the will hook you up with great food. Johnny's is great for after a concert or theater
- Pros: great food, lots of meat , 24 hours
- Cons: location, crabby waitresses
