Best izakaya on the westside

by surfnbird at Citysearch

Good vibes at this cozy izakaya on Wilshire just off the promenade. Wonderful Japanese-Korean-fusion food, attentive service, and they serve both hot and cold sake. With a happy attitude! Highly recommended.

  • Pros: Food, Ambience, Service, Valet Parking
  • Cons: Dinner only (no lunch)

Exceptional.

by fltola at Citysearch

Everything is wonderful in this intimate but lively Japanese restaurant. My favorites are the grilled saki-marinated salmon, tofu fries, green bean salad, crunchy rice with pickle. You have to call ahead. It's always packed.

  • Pros: Food, Exuberance
  • Cons: Smallish but cool nevertheless

Nice izakaya in west side

by uhmma at Citysearch

This is a fun little izakaya restaurant in west side. Its nice to find good Japanese food in west side without having to pay through your nose. The quality of food is quite good and menu is eclectic with Japanese, fusion and Korean inspired items. The pork with kimchi is amazing and so is the green bean salad. Service is good but little too robotic and their friendliness is to planned. It's a nice touch to present the rice in stonepot and then to individually serve it in bowls. I would recommend this place highly over most of the other Japanese restaurants in the area.

  • Pros: good food
  • Cons: lack of parking

Been a loyal Musha lover since 2002

by anat17 at Citysearch

First visited Musha SM back in 2002, and I've been coming back religiously. This is my ultimate spot for comfort food. I've pretty much have gone through the whole entire menu multiple times, and have not had a single bad dish thus far. My Musha list:

1. Albacore salad

2. Pumpkin croquette

3. Aski ( stir-fried various mushrooms/asparagus)

4. Takotama ( super okonomiyaki with a twist)

5. Asari clam udon

6. Musha risotto

7. Yuzu chicken

Last but not least, the little bag of Japanese candies they give to the lady customers always makes me want to hug the owner. Thanks Haku-san for feeding me all these years!

Very fun, different experience

by lmo1823 at Citysearch

Went last night on Valentine's Day without a reservation. Only a 30 minute wait. Had a delicious homemade sangria-- they had quite an extensive list of cocktails and beers, not to mention sake. Ordered a bunch of different plates, all were good, three were absolutely outstanding. Their tofu is made especially for them and was quite good. The udon with clams is a must. One of the most delicious dishes I've had in a while. The poke was also good. A fun time, lively crowd. They also had two tatami rooms in the back; one large one and one smaller one.

  • Pros: Alcohol options, multiple different dishes, ambience, tatami rooms

Cool Japanese tapas spot

by denag at Citysearch

Definately make a reservation as Musha is hopping even on a Sunday night. We really enjoyed the variety of the menu selections and the staff was very helpful and friendly. The Tuna Sashimi was very fresh and the pumpkin crochettes is a fall seasonal dish, I highly recommend. For a fun night out with a group, be sure to book one of the private rooms in back.

  • Pros: Fresh and tasty food, good menu selection
  • Cons: Space is a bit cramped

Unique Japanese Cuisine

by dswijaya at Citysearch

Spicy tuna dip with rice crackers is a bomb! you can even ask for more rice crackers. It's not an ordinary Japanese restaurant..worth a try! It's a little smoky inside the restaurant though.

Guests are greeted with a loud cheer as they enter this stylish Japanese tapas restaurant. They have traditional sashimi dishes, plus unusual small plates. The pumkin dip and spicy tuna dip were excellent. The miso salmon way okay. Unique Japanese restaurant.

  • Pros: Great food, Cool atmosphere, Friendly service
  • Cons: Grill smoke

tapas gone japanese, the right way

by azngrl25 at Citysearch

i love beer, so a place selling light asian bubbly can't be bad...instead, it was great. i've had small dishes (tapas) with beer, but the delicate flavor of each seemingly incredibly simple dish erupts subtly and does all the justice in the world to the bubbly. and for those who know, especially the fragile, light flavor of japanese (and chinese) beers. mmmm, is a must try, and then a must go back, again, and again, and again...

the work force there is also helpful, polite, fun, and family-style. it's great.

Japanese Tapas

by jhung12 at Citysearch

This place has different types of Japanese tapas that go really great with beer. Definitely try the grilled beef tongue, omelete, and beef cubes.
