Sub-Par Service and Room, Very cool bar
by ittraveler
The rooms are very subpar, if you're in your early twenties and looking for a party hotel, this is it. If you're looking for the comforts of a nice hotel, this is definitely not the place. No vending machines in the hotel, ice maker did not work, and cheap rooms.
The service was lacking. The valet took the key, made us aware of the $25/day parking, and left, no help with bags or even directions on how to get into the hotel.
The bar is definitely very hip looking, and attracts quite the crowd. But, be prepared to take your wallet, as the bar is definitely expensive. Drinks average around $10 each.
If you're looking for a non-smoking room, be prepared to spend an extra $40/night...the standard room is only available in smoking...
Overall, skips the hotel, visit the bar...
- Pros: Cool Bar
- Cons: Expensive Drinks, Low Quality Rooms, Poor Service
The illest hotel and rooftop scene in Downtown L.A.
by Mar Yvette
Blame this tower of hipper-than-thou power for igniting the Downtown L.A. revival back in 2001. Since then, this quirky cool sleepover spot has become a de rigeur destination as much for the bedroom action as for the lobby billiards and rooftop bar and pool, which draw a colorful mix of tourists and local scenesters. Rooms--available in sizes ranging from Huge and Gigantic to Humongous and Wow!-each feature a retro-futuristic look: Shiny silver throw pillows, barcode-inspired wall designs, low-lying platform beds, lava lamps ... you get the idea. The rooftop bar and pool is the center of the hotel's late-night action, where faux topiaries, a red astro turf sundeck with waterbed cabanas, slick Formica furniture, staff dressed in red cheerleading uniforms and endless views of the city are just the beginning. Stunning View
by KelleyBelly
This place is a gem in LA. There are a lot of great bars to go to but none as lovely as this rooftop bar. It's great for a date or a night out with your gal pals. I went here with my bf a lot when we first start dating and just relaxed on the sofas and looked onto the buildings and into the starry night sky. The heat lamps keep you really warm too!
I have also been several times with my posse. Last time we went we met this really great bartender. I think his name was Mike? Anyways, he served us Hello Kitty shots which was SO fun. First of all the the liqueur thats used in them is called Ty Ku and the bottle LIGHTS UP!! It's also mixed with vodka. Went down real easy. It made our night very entertaining lol.
I always meet great people here. If I could, I'd come every weekend.
- Pros: GORGEOUS!
- Cons: Parking
Love It

I feel like I'm on vacation in the middle of the city. You can almost reach out and touch the buildings next to it.
The food was as hot as the service!!

Don?t let the hip vibe of this delicious little yellow restaurant fool you. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. There was not only light healthy fair for my better half , but there was also some really great meaty options for me sink my teeth into. We started our meal with this amped up version of a caprese salad. They don?t use the standard fresh mozzarella. Instead it is served with Italian burrata that our server explained is a combination of fresh mozzarella and cream. It lived up to the servers testimony. My partner ordered the beet salad and the crab cakes. Enjoying both. He did ask for a little more of the grapefruit sauce for the crab cakes. This was brought promptly. I chose the pork chop dinner also at the recommendation of our server. I can?t tell you what a breath of fresh air it is to have a server that knows their menu well and works to please their guests. The pork chop was amazing, tender and should have come with it?s own zip code. We were offered dessert, but went with two French pear martinis instead. This place really hits all the senses and does it very well, and without draining your wallet! We will be returning soon!!!
- Pros: cost
- Cons: I can't live here.

Great Roof-top View
by troywarkentin
You cannot beat the view from the top floor, however your patience may be tested if you go on a weekend and do not get in before a line forms.
- Pros: Atmosphere, Decor
- Cons: Line on the Weekends
The Standard

One of my favorite spots in LA. I love the rooftop, especially at night because you're surrounded by all the skyscrapers. Just a beautiful sight to see! Plus, they always have events there, which are usually free!

Pretentious bouncers but very strong drinks
by coleman07
i went on a Thursday night with a group of about 30 or so people and the overly pretentious bouncers wouldn't let us up to the rooftop bar. It was clear that the only people getting in were guys that came with a lot of girls or blondes with huge breasts. They claimed they were only admitting hotel guests but there was even a poor girl there that was staying at the hotel, celebrating her birthday and they wouldn't let her or her party in either. The lobby was really cool and ultra modern. The DJ was excellent and the drinks, though overpriced, were very strong and good. The bathrooms in the lobby were not clean at all and was very disappointing due to the assumed high reputation of the venue. All in all, I probably will not visit this place again. I just don't understand how bouncers are stupid enough to deny entry to 30 people who were all ready to spend large amounts of money on alcohol. Then the idiotic bouncers told everyone that as long as there was a 1:1 girl to guy ratio they could get in. Then they changed their minds and said there was 4:3 girl to guy ratio. We clearly had enough people. It became clear that they must not have liked our "look" or something because they did not let us in under any circumstances. We ended up leaving and didn't turn back. If you want to go to The Standard, I would suggest the one in Hollywood. No d-bag bouncers there.
- Pros: Strong drinks
- Cons: Bouncers without a clue, expensive drinks, dirty bathrooms
My Saturday Night
by HonestReview12
We arrive around 9 to beat the line and it paid off, we were a party of about 10 girls and 3 guys and they made sure we all were allowed in, the guys infront of us weren't due to capacity. The view is very nice, very nice lounges, decent girl to guy ratio. My only complaint was the Dance floor/DJ's choice of music all night and the volume of the music. But we have a good time regardless, it felt like a place you'd take a date for drinks but still a lot of single girls walking around. I'd give it a 8/10 and probably will visit again.
