Awesome breakfast and service
by burbankqt at Citysearch
We went there today for New Year's Day brunch. We got there at around 1:30pm and happily discovered that they although they weren't serving from the full breakfast menu, they still serve from their limited breakfast menu all day. This was perfect since I wanted breakfast food and my parents and husband wanted lunch. All the food was really good and the service was excellent. My parents are vegetarian and didn't see anything on the menu they really liked, so they asked the waitress if she could make a special sandwich for them with the veggies and cheese they wanted. She gladly did it and my parents said the sandwich was great! It even came with french fries. I had the sourdough french toast and my husband had the grilled pepper and goat cheese sandwich. We also ordered the sweet potato fries...everything was really good! My 1 year old son went and had food from the kids menu. The atmosphere is very cozy and both main seating areas have fireplaces that were going. Ample parking too...they have a lot. We were very happy with the place and will definitely go back. Bonus: there is a pinkberry two stores down.
- Pros: Affordable pricing, good food, good ambience, kid-friendly, great service, parking
- Cons: None
love dish!!!

Dish is the best! I've been here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and it has always been great. They have really cool drink specials and although it's not very well known, they also have a really cool wine list! I've been addicted to Dish for about a year and I go there at least once a week. When they get really busy sometimes, the service can be spotty, but they are always extremely nice and you can see that everyone is running around trying to get it all done. For any bad reviews out there, it must've just been a bad day! Make reservations just to be sure you get a table on those weekend mornings or you could wait a long time.
- Pros: Great american food, excellent value, great for families
- Cons: Location, can be loud sometimes
Savory and special

My husband and I dined at Dish last night, without having read the negative reviews -- and I'm glad or we might have missed out. I had a small "Pog" (guava, passion fruit and orange juice), which was like a non-alcoholic cocktail, very flavorful -- as well as a China Mist iced green tea, which was refreshing and my glass was always kept filled. We split the Ojai Chicken Salad, which was perfectly tossed and a delicious balance of citrus and greens. For the entree we split a boneless short ribs special, which was just amazing -- perfectly browned, tender, and savory. I got a side of their sweet potato fries, which were addictive! And, we finished it all off by sharing a moist and fluffy red velvet cupcake. The service was fast, if a little cold, but the waitress warmed up to us when we told her it was our first time there and that the food was delicious. (Sometimes you gotta give a little to get a lot in return.) I enthusiastically recommend Dish and can't wait to go back. Enjoy!
- Pros: Great food, variety, convenient parking
- Cons: Service was a little cold, but efficient
Cozy up and order some comfort food

I ate at Dish on Tuesday, Feb 5, 2008 on the way down the mountain after cross-country skiing. Since I?ve read some negative reviews here, I was concerned about trying out this restaurant. Our experience fortunately was completely positive. Upon walking through the front door, we were greeted warmly by the host. Without a wait, we were seated at one of the tables near the fireplace in the bar area. Our server, Louis, was friendly and professional. He was knowledgeable about the wines and the items on the dinner menu, making suggestions as to food and wine pairings. The food was very good - we ordered the sand dabs and the chicken pasta. Both were well prepared and satisfying and the quality was much in line with the reasonable prices. Additionally, the various wines by the glass were half price due to happy hour. The bread pudding was exceptionally good even though visually it didn't look like much. The DISH version is filled with apples and nuts. Order it a la mode and share an order. DISH is a down home, neighborhood restaurant serving comfort food at affordable prices in a pleasant, inviting environment. We'll definitely return the next time we're in the area.
Just not as good as it used to be

We have been going to Dish since it opened. It was really good food the first three years or so, and then it started to decline. The orders take a long time to come out and then the taste falls flat. The menu makes things sound great ( the garlic burger) it was very bland and I was disapointed as I thought with a new chef/ partner and menu, it would have improved. I used to love this place for breakfast, lunch and dinner and Iv'e tried all three lately and was unhappy all three times. I even E-mailed them with my opinion, and heard nothing back.
TERRIBLE

If you go to many restaurants and know good food, you will cry after you eat food from here. I went there for brunch, and ordered some kind of dish with vegetables and chicken. The chicken was boiled and absolutely no spice on it. so it was just a piece of boiled chicken and boiled 2 sticks of carrots. thats all. they also didnt bring the right order out for my friend and after 40 minutes, they finally decided to bring out the eggs (i dont know how long it takes them to make eggs, but maybe there is a culinary school in the back and no one knows what they are doing). the decor is ok if you are into "grandma's house we go" style.
SO! If you enjoy eating a piece of wood or tree leaves, go here.
- Cons: food
AWFUL - all caps!!

How all these reviewers can rate this horrible excuse for a restaurant..? Makes me wonder if I should trust any reviews on Citysearch. This was by far the worst dining experience I've had in a long time. The decor is like - well, like a gymnasium crossed with a cafeteria maybe. The service is like - the owners kids or nieces and nephews or anyone just thrown in there to work. Go ahead, ask them what kind of "butter" they use. I dare you. The food is indescribable. I hate wasting my stomach on food like this.
- Pros: none
- Cons: everything else
Horrible service

I was out and looking for a great place to have dinner when a friend of mine said she had heard about this place named Dish in La Canada, we decided to go since it was close by. There were three of us and we were seated promptly, none of the staff spoke with us someone came and brought us water and bread and never came back. I noticed while sitting there waiting for our waiter/waitress that another party came in and were seated in our section, they were then asked what they would like to drink were also given water and bread. As I sat there thinking this was not really happening their waitress went to their table and proceeded to take their order. Meanwhile the manager was at the next booth talking with customers turned and saw us and quickly went to the back. We needless to say decided to leave and do not plan on returning. The service what little we got was horrible.
- Pros: none
- Cons: really bad service
