Okay, lets get real.....
This man has single-handedly held down the BBQ game in LA for years now.
I hear too many people claiming that their BBQ is better and ya-de-ya.
If you really want some serious BBQ there's no other option in LA!
As far as reviews go, always beware of other BBQ places trying to pose as customers or yelpers.
It's lame.
Especially when you know that the food here is amazing and if any other place could have took them down it would have happened a long time ago.
This guy has created a landmark Downtown that was removed by bureaucratic BS and fought his way back Downtown to open a new location.
Hey...No one respects a restaurant.... but everyone respects the food.
1 up
- Pros: The best BBQ & sides in LA!!!
- Cons: Don't talk when your mouth is full.

Relocated from its old location near downtown and Dodger Stadium, this down-home eatery is big on barbecue--and meaty sandwiches and beefy burgers.
Best BBQ in Town.... BUT>>>>>>

WHERE DID IT GO?????
I wanted to eat some bbq today and drove by the place. It's not there anymore!!!!!! The building was demolished and the plot taken over by developers!
If it were still there, I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who's down for some great bbq without the monster size tip. Their tri-tip is a local favorite: tender and swimming in bbq sauce with some garlic mixed in. Also very tasty are their seasoned fries: soft on the inside with a crispy outside, and 100% tasty.
Service is a little slow, but the food should make up for it. You should not expect cleanliness in the dining area. It is an outdoor dining area, there are pigeons walking around, and it is/was in the middle of downtown LA, so air pollution and dust can be expected. You can always order to go.
If anyone knows where BBQ King went, update this information please!
- Pros: They don't skimp on the bbq sauce.
- Cons: Parking
Food = Excellent; Service = Well....

This is my favorite BBQ spot in L.A. hands down. Having grown up in los angeles and lived down the street from Philip's, tried Woody's, and cried when Leo's closed I am so happy I found this place! Who knew the best bbq place would be Downtown!! You get HUGE portions, tender and perfectly seasoned meat, and the sauce alone is worth the trip. But its sad that the customer service is ridiculous (i.e. wrong orders, rude drivers, etc...) When I want bbq i kinda question do i REALLY want to go thru the hassle of putting up a fight and trying to order my food and hoping they get it right. But when i go ahead and go thru all the drama and finally get my food it was actually worth it.
- Pros: The sauce, meat, and portions
- Cons: Customer Service
Sweet BBQ and sour service.

The food was OK and I truly think I would have enjoyed it better if not for the service. I was told to, "look at the menu" when I asked a question, waited a full 30 minuits untill my order was ready and the order was wrong though I was charged for the missing items. My coworkers and I had to share what we got because we couldn't wait another half hour for the food to be prepared. The facility had so much smoke that it made people cough at times. For the price I paid I expected much more food, better service, and a better dinning enviroment. I now frequent a BBQ joint down the street.
- Pros: I didn't get sick
- Cons: Service, price, wait time, amount of food, smokey
meat overload!

Just came back from my first visit..the pork ribs are great! Each rib had so much meat. The sides are ok, the corn bread eh....either way, I am most def going for the ribs. I asked for the burger but was told that it would be a 25 min wait...I will call in my order next time. Meat so good.
- Pros: Meat and bbq sauce was goooooood
- Cons: cash only.
Good, but lil bit dirty

Born and raised in Texas, I can tell you that this place does not serve authentic Texas barbeque. Although it is tasty, it's a far cry from the real thing. And the service is worse--although they pride themselves on slow-cooking their meats, it takes forever, and by the time my order was ready, I wasn't even hungry anymore. Plus, in Texas there are far quicker restaraunts who serve much better barbeque. I don't plan on going back to this place anytime soon.
- Cons: Long wait, mediocre barbeque
Long waiting, Service with negative attitude

I like the idea of having a different burger, and I have been there a couple of times. Be aware the clerk is not too nice and when I asked why my burger took 25 minutes, they just said: go to McDonalds if you are in a hurry. Food is OK, but I am not planning on visiting this stand again.
- Pros: something different
- Cons: Service, and long delay
Make a stop for the burger!!

Once I found out about this place, I kept stoping by before a Dodger game. Don't get me wrong, I love Dodger Dogs but nothing beats the 1 lb burger at Texas BBQ King. The burger is cooked under the ribs in the giant BBQ so that the drippings fall right on top. Oh Goodness that is good! The fries are good too!! I really want to taste the rest of the menu but everytime I show up and see the burger...well you know the rest!
- Pros: Burger, Burger Burger!!
- Cons: Location is kind of strange...not enough parking
