Bikram Yoga Silverlake Makes You Feel Good.
by tracymccormick
Do you ever walk out of a yoga class and think to yourself that maybe the session was a little too cheesy or that maybe the die-hards in the class were too intense. Rest assured that when you walk out after a class at Bikram Yoga Silverlake, you will feel good about being a part of the greater good and will not be turned off by any yoga nerds or over-the-toppers. Everyone is super relaxed, super welcoming and super cool (in the good way). One never need be afraid of going for the first time even if you've never done yoga period! The staff is great and eager to talk and answer questions at any time. You can move at your own pace and still feel like your kickin' azz. When you leave a session you will literally feel as if the world is yours.
- Pros: You will feel as if you can do anything.
Clean! Healthy! Fun!
by yogadaily
Hands down, the cleanest, most enjoyable bikram experience I have encountered in three states! Really down to earth people, fun teachers who are serious about their yoga but lighthearted and encouraging. Parking is easy, only wish I lived closer!! Worth committing to..
- Pros: Cleanliness, environment, parking.
- Cons: Traffic on the way!
A no-attitude yoga studio featuring sweat-inducing, easy-to-follow Bikram yoga.
by Contributor
The Scene
What looks like a cement bunker on the outside is actually a friendly, neighborhood yoga sweatbox. Bikram yoga novices and devotees come, in all shapes, ages and sizes, to bask in 102-degree heat inside a glass-enclosed room. Teachers are friendly and welcome beginners. Mats and towels are available for rent. Water bottles and a limited selection of yoga wear are for sale.
The Workout
As soon as you unfurl your mat on the carpeted floor, you'll be breaking a sweat in the ultra-heated room. Get ready to begin a series of 26 yoga positions, each repeated twice. Start with standing postures that challenge your balance and strength, like "chair pose" performed on your toes and "balancing stick." Floor positions stretch your chest, hips and legs. Others twist and elongate your back. By the end, you are dripping with sweat, saturated with self-satisfaction and a deep sense of peace.

I decided to try Bikram after a lot of research into the benefit of different styles of yoga. I must say, I was impressed!!! Although I had never done it before, it was very easy to follow along and the instructor was so great he made me really want to keep going! I would reccomend this - and the intro deal they give you is totally worth it!
- Pros: Instructor, Great intro deal, Atmosphere
- Cons: Can be crowded

i tried bikram yoga for the first time at the silverlake studio and i loved it. you get such an incredible workout and the atmosphere is great. the teachers are very knowledgeable and very encouraging, especially to newcomers dealing with the heat for the first time. the heat can be difficult at first, but it is so cleansing and it really helps your practice. it's amazing. i have been doing yoga for years but was reluctant to try bikram becuase of the reputation, but this studio was fantastic. very clean. very friendly and supportive vibe. it was everything a yoga studio should be.
- Pros: good teachers, clean, lots of classes
What a work out
by dragon
Be prepared to sweat! In 102 degrees, you not only need a large towel on top of your mat, but you need another towel to wipe yourself off throughout class. Also, wear the least amount of clothing as possible. You will be much more comfortable throughout the class.
The work out is 26 postures, repeating each posture twice. It is a great ab and leg work out, but I did find I was sore all over the next day.
This school also appears to have been an old dance studio, so there is still one wall covered with mirrors. I found it helpful because I could actually see how I am doing my postures and correct them on the spot.
- Pros: Helpful Instructors, 20 bux, 10 days
- Cons: Street parking
