A fun time for kids. But why in the world would they have a whole bunch of pigs for the kids to pet and play with on a day that we are having a world wide scare about Swine Flu? Unbelievable!!

While neither the biggest nor the most diverse of the local farmers' markets, the produce is tops in quality and freshness. A solid selection of gourmet produce, prepared food and family fun makes for an entertaining Sunday morning. Located just off Ventura Boulevard, this family-friendly market has plenty to keep the kids busy while parents gather just-picked sweet corn and fingerling potatoes. The carnival atmosphere includes a petting zoo, face painting, and train and pony rides.

Best Market for Families

My family and I love spending time on Sunday mornings at this farmers market. There's something there for everyone. When the kids get bored of me shopping for the fresh ingredients I use in cooking, I take them over for a pony ride, a quick jaunt in the bounce house, or a flavored, shaved ice. We particulary love to get our fresh fish from the fish guy, it's always been top quality and reasonable. I see friends and neighbors there on Sundays and it lind of gives you that small town feeling - we love it!

• Pros: best fresh berries, lots of flowers, friendly vendors
• Cons: not enough parking
