Okay Lah, but there are better places to spend your money.
by funkyvivi at Citysearch
This is nothing really special. The food is okay..the service is below that. If you are looking for good tasting chinese food then this is not the place. Especially for the price, there are other places to go. Unless you really want a family style eating that will not break your wallet.
This top lunch spot piles on roast duck and barbecued pork.

The Scene
Walk by and you'll see roast ducks and pigs hanging in the window. Despite the uninspired interior, Sam Woo's draws crowds with good value, big servings and succulent Chinese-style barbecue.
The Food
Solid Cantonese cuisine is the backbone of Sam Woo BBQ, which has perhaps a dozen branches in greater Los Angeles. For its price, you can't beat the succulent duck, scented with star anise, but the roasted pork is even better. Seafood is excellent, especially the live fish, huge crabs and delectable baby lobsters swimming in tanks along the wall. For a hangover, nothing beats the congee, a thick rice soup with any number of additions like pork, duck or preserved egg.
authentic dim sum!
by ttothek at Citysearch
All I can say is this place is just a WONDERFUL place to have dim sum, if you are not wanting to venture to China Town, in L.A. The dim sum is delish, and comes out plenty, you never have to worry about flagging a cart runner down. I never had a bad meal of Dim Sum here. I never had their dinners, but I do know their dim sum! LOL
- Pros: DIM SUM, service
- Cons: parking can be crowded during peak times
Go to this branch and not others!
by nomo_fan at Citysearch
You would think that because this is a chain that the quality would be the same, but man, this Sam Woo is good and most of the other ones are horrible!!! At this branch, try the Baked Pork Chop, the baby bok choy, and any fish dish. Also, the chicken cooked with ginger in green onion is a subtle mild dish with a nice blend of flavors. We've never been disappointed at this one, but many Thursday night dinner club members have complained about the other branches of Sam Woo!
Great Chinese Food
by mds02 at Citysearch
Great food, fast service and relatively inexpensive. This is the closest to Chinese BBQ I've had outside of the China, very tasty and authentic. The atmosphere does not impress, but if you like tasty food which ic well prepared and dished up in generous portions, I'd suggest giving sam Woo's a try.
- Pros: Authentic, Reasonably Priced, FAST SERVICE
- Cons: Crowded, Loud

We were disappointed in the Sam Woo Chinatown restaurant. However, the La Puente (actually, City of Industry) location has become one of our favorite restaurants. Good food and service and great prices. We often gather up as many friends as we can and eat there as a group.
