Great Gallery

I just visited this gallery just to see the David Hockney watercolor exhibit. While I can't say that I'm a huge Hockney fan, I was incredibly impressed with this installation and with the gallery space. The colors of the pieces were masterfully hung and made the show even that much more enjoyable. I've since joined the mailing list and plan to be a frequent visitor.
Enjoy fine art in this uniquely Westside setting.

The Scene
L.A. Louver has been in existence since 1976, but it moved to its current location in 1995. A stone's throw from the beach, the building, designed by Frederick Fisher & Associates, is unassuming from the outside and cozily cavernous inside. The main floor is vast and able to accommodate gargantuan sculptures. A hardwood walkway and stairs lead to the upper gallery and sky room--an outdoor loft for special installations. The sunlight, breeze and street sounds combine to create a unique, constantly shifting ambient setting.
The Goods
L.A. Louver presents fine art in an unassuming, inviting atmosphere, from Dale Chihuly's vibrant glass work to bright David Hockney landscapes and the massive metal sculptures of Mark di Suvero. The gallery not only exhibits the works of the artists it represents, but creates a wide range of publications that focus on individual artists as well as themes in art.
