by cithia at Citysearch

I just had my party here at Stargazer and it was fantastic.. The food was served on time, and was delicious! My favorite part was the dessert, bec i had my chocolate fountain for free!!! and the way it was served was very classy! Friends and family came on time so my program went smoothly and ofcourse with the help of the staff we were able to organize everything. what i loved most abt this place is how it looks when everything is set up, the beautiful stars on the ceiling are awesome!!! cant wait to have another party and im sure ill have it again here @ STARGAZER

Cold Food, Bad Service, One Bartender for entire Building...LAME!

by M2005 at Citysearch

Ok..so I'm hesitant to give them a three star....Because we had good company and a vibrant family we had a great time. The banquet hall was a good size for my lil sister's Sweet 16 Party. We understand they had some set schedule of when we ate, when we danced, when we ate cake and so forth but c'mon we're paying you thousands of dollars to have a good time and for you to cater to us not press us for time nor rush us out the door. I thought everything was going well until I started seeing the ladies follow us everywhere telling us it was 7 o'clock we need to sit...it's 8 o'clock we need to do the cake....(AND can you believe they didnt allow us to place 16 candles on the cake (singles) they said it would take TOO much TIME to do and light..Thats when I knew we had sticklers on our hands) All we heard was "it's this time" and that time and then it was time to GET OUT......Then when we tried to take the rest of OUR cake and dessert we PAID good money for...they had the nerve to tell us they couldn't box it up for us and we couldnt take it. I told the lady well i figured we could take it since we PAID for it. One lady was coming out to box up the cake and the head coordinator asked her what she was doing and told her No to put the box away...NERVE! I was so mad and annoyed i knew I had to rate this place...and on top of all the Chaos going on..everyone was annoyed by the fact that they're were two parties going on at the same time and ONLY ONE bartender and ONE bar to accomodate BOTH parties we had guests gone for almost 30 min waiting for a STUPID beer or a simple drink...Everyone in line was complaining about the service...Overall the only thing I liked about it was that it had alot of parking and good amount of room for everyone who attended...BUT, not Worth the thousands they ask you to pay up front before the party. I wouldnt do it again...

  • Pros: Good Size Hall, Parking
  • Cons: One Bartender for two DIFFERENT parties, Service, Cold Food, and Attitude

Terrible food

by hschlossberg at Citysearch

I ate here a year ago but just came across this listing. The high ratings caught my attention because I just couldn't imagine anyone giving this place a decent rating. After reading the other reviews, I noticed that everyone who gave it high ratings was there as part of a party, in their party room, which looks like a disco when you drive by at night. And then everyone who gave it is deserved low ratings went there on their own for dinner, where the rating is obviously based on the food. Let me be clear here: the food is terrible, possibly the worst Chinese food I have ever had in my life.

  • Pros: buffet variety
  • Cons: dry, tasteless, unappetizing food

Very nice for our daughter's quinceanera

by PerryMC at Citysearch

We gave our daughter a quinceanera party there last weekend and everything was perfect like in a movie. The room was beautiful, we had custom colors, linens, flowers etc. The DJ was polite and he played the music that the kids liked the most. And we didn't spend all that much either. The staff cared about us and made us feel at home. We'll plan to have our anniversary party there at the end of this year.

  • Pros: Firendly staff, good DJ, on-time everything
  • Cons: None

Good for family parties

by anuthaparty at Citysearch

We had our anniversary party there over the weekend. It was really nice inside, the furnishings are gorgeous and the food was good. No complaints, friendly server and good food. We may hold our daughter's quinceanera there next year. Our guests were happy.

  • Pros: Good value
  • Cons: A little far from our home

False Promises, Poor Service

by Monalora at Citysearch

My family and I had a gathering at the Stargazer in West Hills. We had made an agreement with the party coordinator trusting her to what she promised and what the paper work said. The day came and the DJ was late, the party coordinator disappeared about 80 percent of the time. My family had served some drinks on their own and also cleaned up a spill in the floor because no one was around to clean it. It was at the end of the party that the party coordinator came to help and only because she noticed I complained after so many times. We tried to get her attention twice, the first time she was eating, the second she said she would be there in five minutes and never came until hours later. The bartender gave us an attitude when I kindly asked him to pass water and sodas and make sure the guests did not need anything else. Just like other restaurants would do or what was expected. He was literally standing there bickering how upset he was. Laziness?? We tried to make the best out of it without their help. It was only after we complained several times that someone did something about it. They replaced the bartender with a lady who we believe was the owner but she denied it. This was almost at the end of the party. I decided to call the owner the following day to let her know of our disappointment. When I called I asked if she was the owner, she said yes this is the owner, I requested her name and she hung up on me. I do not recommend stargazer. They have false promises and will tell you what you want to hear just so you can sign their contract. They expect to be pay in full before the party, something we should have opposed. The only good thing is that my family pull themselves together and worked together to entertain the crowd since the party coordinator disappeared. The food was ok, but not enough to make up for what they put us through and almost ruined the party if it wasn't for my family.

Customer Service - Terrible, Food - cold, dry, unappealing.

by atltego at Citysearch

I decided to take my wife, mother-in-law, and sister-in-law to Stargazer after church for the buffet. I was somewhat hesitant due to some of the reviews but decided to try it. OH MY GOD... what a dissappointment!!!

First, the waiter answered his cell phone while he was taking our drink order. More than a few of the selections were cold or luke warm. The food looked as if it had been sitting on the buffet for hours. The fried rice could have soaked up a gallon of water.... it was definitely dry and old. My wife ate less than one small plate and was very unhappy with the food. Everyone had a comment about the food, none of which were positive.

I asked to speak to the manager and let him know how we felt about the food. I didn't mind paying for the drinks or part of the meal, but it definitely wasn't worth $12 each ($62 total). He told me I should have spoken to him sooner and there was nothing he could do. So I walked over to the buffet, picked up two pieces of pork and handed them to him. "Cold isn't it." I told him he would get a citation for all the meat on the buffet that was so cold. Two other persons were standing in line and complained about the food being cold as well. I then walked over to three different tables and asked the people if their food was good. One couple said it was ok. Another couple said it was not good. I told them the manager didn't believe my complaints. They said "Maybe he should try a plate.". Needless to say, he finally shooed me out the door and didn't ask me to pay.

Afterwards we were sitting in the car discussing the experience and the owner came up to the car. He asked to speak with me. I told him of our experience and he didn't really look like he cared. He seemed to be trying to determine if we were just trying to get a free meal.

I definitely DO NOT recommend this restaurant!!!

We enjoyed it.

by rzemerson at Citysearch

Our family and the kids really liked it. They have a good selection of kid-friendly foods plus they do parties for kids with a clown and magic show. The inside is attractive, and it's pretty large so good for groups. It's in the Fallbrook Mall so we could walk to Wal-Mart and go shopping, and the parking was good.

  • Pros: Not expensive, all you can eat, big selection
  • Cons: Crowded on weekends

Lively, happy, good entertainment

by gnorman007 at Citysearch

My friend recommended Stargazer because his daughter had a sweet sixteen party there. It is beautiful inside with stars in the ceiling, and the buffet food selection was good. The food is like Hometown but a little more upscale and a wider selection. I like dancing, and their sound system is as good as the sound in a nice club. People dress up a little when they go there. So I would recommend it for a party and it looks like it can hold around 300 people.

  • Pros: Beautiful interior and lots of food choices. Free parking, large lot.
  • Cons: Loud music after dinner service unless you like to dance
