Overpriced, horrible service.
by ahs2m2 at Citysearch
Food is mediocre but price is way too high for the service and quality. If you are watching your wallet, DO NOT go to this place. If you do not order the pricy items on the menu, the waiters will treat you like second class citizen and treating you.rudely. A very unpleasant experience.
- Pros: Fresh seafood
- Cons: Overpriced, Rude
overpriced horrible service

having lived in the san gabriel valley all my life and eating at almost every restaurant that has been around, this place is overpriced and overrated. Food is very good, but there is better. For sea harbor you are paying 3 times as much as you would at another restaurant for slightly better food. Service was absolutely horrible, they forgot to order a couple dishes and were very unaccomadating in getting us more food to replace those dishes that they ran out of. but to be fair, most chinese restaurants have horrible service. but for $40-$60 a person, you would excpect more.
- Pros: good food
- Cons: you can get food almost as good for 1/3 the price.
Never never never again ever!!!!

Never again will i visit this establishment. I went to try this restaurant at the recommendation of a friend. I had a group of 11, half white half chinese. When it should have been our time to be seated, they bypassed us on the list and allowed another group go in ahead of us. When questioned about this, we were treated rudely and told we would have to continue waiting. I told the management that this was unacceptable and we left. It was apparent to the chinese members of my group that it was because we had some white people with us.
If you wish to dine at an establishment that discriminates and treats it's customers rudely, then this is the place to be. As for myself and the members of my party, we pledged never to visit this place again.
- Cons: long wait, long wait, long wait, rude
Best Dim Sum in LA. Period.
by exilekiss at Citysearch
As a SoCal native, I've been eating Dim Sum since I was a child. My parents used to take me to the "OG" Dim Sum restaurants in Chinatown (before there was a real Monterey Park / SG Valley community); that's how far back I go :). I've been to all the major Dim Sum restaurants around, and I have to say, without question:
Sea Harbor is THE best Dim Sum restaurant in L.A. Period.
What makes it great? They make everything fresh-to-order! Sure, it's a bit sad not seeing the classic Carts being pushed around and old Dim Sum servers shouting out the names of the food, but you get piping-hot, fresh Dim Sum in return!
Secondly, the Quality of the ingredients shine here as well. It costs a bit more, but it's far better quality than the other places (Ocean Star, NBC, etc.). Looking at their Dinner Menu as well, it's clear that Sea Harbor is taking the "Quality over Quantity" approach.
Lastly, they have classics & new varieties of Dim Sum to keep even veterans of the scene happy; and they have Seasonal Menus as well. One word of warning, though: There IS a horrendous wait (people know what's good :) on the weekends around the peek Lunch Hours (11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. or so). If you're willing to adjust, and come in first thing at 10 a.m. on a weekend, you'll be seated right away! Or come on a weekday to try it (which is far less crowded). Lastly, price-wise, I spend usually ~$11-13 per person at the classics (NBC, Ocean Star, etc.). My average (after 4 times at Sea Harbor) is only ~$13-15 per person (and we order a LOT :). For the quality, freshness, and great variety of Dim Sum, there is no competition. Sea Harbor is great!
- Pros: Freshly-prepared, made-to-order Dim Sum; Awesome new dishes
- Cons: The wait (come early; or on weekdays).
Poor Service
by karenng at Citysearch
Some of the dim sum were really good..but i don't think it is really worth it to wait almost 2 hrs for a table for 4-8 w/o reservation and it is a pretty pricey restaurant. I would recommend this place if you don't mind waiting long and paying higher prices AND being ignored by the servers. Honestly..the service there is very very poor.
- Pros: Crowded, Poor service, Poor parking
- Cons: Fresh food
Fight the crowds for fresh dim sum
by mharbut at Citysearch
The food is very fresh and the selection is larger than your typical pushcart dim sum restaurant; however, the long wait for a table can diminish your enthusiasm. This is not a restaurant for late-morning weekend brunches, with the wait for a table up to 1 1/2 to 2 hours long. Arrive early enough, though, and sample some fantastically fresh food for a decent price.
WOW

I ate at Sea Harbor for the first time yesterday. It was exceedingly fresh and delicious. I would eat any of the several dishes that we ordered again. The fried tofu with a delicious sauce was amazing - not waht I expected when I bit into it. We ordered the goose liver wonton soup and that was also fantastic. Unfortunately, I did not pay attention to the names although I will definitely remember the pictures for when I go again (soon)!! Just get there early - as it fills up FAST... but definitely GO!! ;-)
- Pros: Quality, Parking
It's not good at all
by buildthebear at Citysearch
There's nothing special about this resturant. It tried to portrait itself as a higher class Chinese restuarant by raising all the price but the food was worse than a mediocre dim sum place. The shiu mai just used small shrimp and ground pork. A lot of other dishes were not marinated or prepared well. They were either tasteless or too much water coming out. I don't mind paying high prices for good quality food but I don't see any "quality" in this place.
- Pros: Made to order
- Cons: , Restroom is a storage, Not worth it
Dim Sum KING!
by bomblak at Citysearch
The best thing about Sea Harbor dim sum is that EVERYTHING is made to order, fresh and hot! FYI: "Dim Sum" is a traditional Chinese breakfast/lunch that serves small dishes of fine Chinese cuisine while you drink tea and relax w/ friends. Normally it's on massive carts and can get lukewarm or slightly cold while moving around. NOT so here! It's all fresh.
Some of the dishes are very unique and fabulous, not found at other authentic restaurants: Like the "Winter Melon w/ Black Sesame Filling Pastry." It's fabulous and amazing. Even their simple authentic Congee (Chinese porridge) is great. It doesn't use corn starch, is fresh, with large chunks of fish and dried scallops. Try the LOBSTER Congee(!) and Shark Fin soup if you have the cash to spend.
- Pros: HOT and FRESH, Unique Dishes, Great Dim Sum
- Cons: A little pricey, Long wait on weekends

I think they have the best taste, best looking dim sum that I ever tried. In terms of price are way too expensive. I will go there only once in a while. It is definitely the taste for Cantonese.
- Pros: good taste, good looking, nice environment
- Cons: too expensive, too long wait
