I came here twice during the Dine la restaurant week and had the best time. The food was great and what a deal three courses under 40 bucks at a three star restaurant , can't beat that. I even took my parents out for dinner. So I just went in for drinks and found out that they are doing a new 3 course prix fixe for $38 starting next week and running through tax season. Thanks Table 8 maybe I'll invite my inlaws this time.

Pros: great 3 course menu for $38 best deal in town

Cons: they only do the prix fixe at this time of year

After reading reviews about table 8, my bf decided to get the Porterhouse steak. The steak was good; juicy and just melts in your mouth, but i thought it was over priced at $88. It came with mashed potatoes, a small salad and a few baby carrots. We decided to eat in the lounge because I wanted appetizers on the lounge menu and they wouldnt serve the lounge menu in the dinning room. (you can order from both menus in the lounge). I got the grilled cheese and kobe slider which were delicious. I wasnt such a big fan of the lobster roll, it tasted too salty and the fries tasted like EXACTLY like McDonalds fries. If I wanted McDonalds fries, I would just go there and get them for way less in price. We finished our meal with the dulce de leche chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream dessert ($9). We both thought the dessert was delicious. The chocolate cake comes out warms and simply melts in your mouth, however it was rather small. The waiters and hostess were very friendly however they did seem to have a pet peeve with crumbs on the table. As we were eating I had a crumpled napkin on the table and the waiter reached over and threw it away. I also had a little piece of food that drop on the table and the waitress came over and picked it up with her bare hands. I thought it was a little strange that they would pick up every little piece of paper or crumb off the table while we were still eating. Maybe they just like the tables to look clean...... Even though the waiters seemed to be a little paranoid with crumbs, they were none the less very nice and polite. There was nearby residential parking where you can park your car instead of using the valet. Im not sure where they park the cars because I didnt see a parking lot. Over all this was a good dining experience even though certain foods were overpriced. I would come here again and just order a bunch of food off the lounge menu and get full w/o spending tons of money.

Pros: longue menu, comfy couches

Cons: some items overpriced, kept on picking up crumbs on table

Well what a wonderful surprise. I dined at Table 8 before the face lift and have to say I liked the old design BUT is finally nice to see a non corporate restaurant firing on all cylinders. After seeing the chef on Oprah I decided to take the plunge. We booked on a Wednesday night and the place was buzzing. I usually like to dissect the entire experience every time I go out but I could not find one fault with this place. The server was very friendly, the food was wonderfully prepared with the only downside being one of our sides was a little cold, BUT that was it!!! The cocktails that we ordered were an unusual blend but complimented our entire evening. I always love to see the chef back up the hype and he did not disappoint. Good luck table 8. You are a diamond in the rough and I will be back!!!!

Pros: Service, Food, The hype about the chef matches the food he serves!!!

Cons: Priced a little high

I recently arranged dinner for a group of friends. On the recommendation of another friend, we went to this restaurant and it didn't disappoint. While the prices are a little steep, the food is good and the service was solid. The restaurant was very professional and accommodating in setting up our reservation for a large group, which seems to be fairly uncommon, especially in that part of the city. The decor and ambiance were nice. It wasn't too loud for a good conversation, but there were enough other people that it felt lively. Everyone agreed it had been a really good pick.

Pros: Nice ambience, friendly accommodating staff.

Cons: None, really. A bit pricey, maybe.

The food is overpriced but the atmosphere is a lovely chill place for drinks and appetizers. The location is right in the middle of the city so great for meeting people from the east side, west side, or valley.

I've lived in LA for 4 years but hadn't been to Table 8 until last week. Can't believe I've been missing out for so long! The place was packed, the drinks were strong and tasty, and the food divine. I was with a big group so we got to try quite a few things and there wasn't one disappointment. Even the desserts were great - I loved the chocolate cake with caramel the best - yummy!

My girlfriends and I went to Table 8 last night after seeing the chef on Oprah raving about the grilled cheese sandwich. And she was right it was the best. The room was lively and the waiter was very friendly. Had a Basil 8 which may be my new favorite drink. All in all a great place.

We were excited to try this place. However, though we had 9:45 reservations, we had to wait till 10:15 for a table. Meanwhile we ordered drinks in the lounge and waited patiently. We considered ordering off the lounge menu, but wanted to eat at our table, not the low coffee tables in the lounge. When we finally got seated, I asked to order appetizers from the lounge menu and was told I COULDN'T! Our waiter said their policy is to keep the lounge and the dining room separate, on different menus/waiters. So if I had been 10 feet to my left I could have had the appetizer I wanted, but being 10 feet to the right, I was denied! Then the lounge waitress delivered our "lounge check" so we had to pay for our drinks before we even could begin our meal! So weird that they couldn't transfer the tab! The server was ridiculously slow, disappearing for 20-30 min at a time. Mind you, the place was 1/2 full, and when we finished it was empty. At one point he said he'd bring us more bread, never did. When we asked for it, he said, "I don't know if there IS any." Luckily he asked the kitchen to make more for us and they did, but he was NOT pleasant about it. After giving us a dessert menu, he disappeared for 20 min. We saw him chatting a few tables down with some pals. We were so annoyed by his lack of concern for our table that we decided to skip dessert even though we wanted it. When he finally ambled over, he said in a very rude tone, "Do you want anything for dessert?" We said no thanks, and he said, "Well do you want anything else at all?" We asked for the check, and he walked away without saying anything else. By the time we got our check, it was midnight. And remember, our reservations had been for 9:45. So it took over 2 hours just for dinner, no appetizers and no dessert. What a waste of time and money. The food was also way overpriced. It tasted good, but not THAT good, and the service left a bitterness of its own.

Pros: Good hot breadsticks, good heirloom tomato salad

Cons: Horrible service, overpriced, cold tomato soup tasted foul, food unimpressive in general

Enjoyed, overall, once we were seated! The decor is a vast improvment, over the original. I would ask for a little more concern from the management. Will try again, though.

This place has a great atmosphere- dark decor with purple overtones with accent lighting that allows you to see your food but doesn't detract from the mood. The SO and I were here for our annivesary and were seated in the back in a semi private area. We asked our server if they offered a tasting and after asking the chef, he told us that they would accomodate us even though they were not set up to do tastings. We went for the 7 course offering, which started out with two delightfully fresh and light salad type appetizers. The 3rd course, the buccatini, came out with pine nuts, despite my previous instructions to the server about my nut allergy. We caught it, informed the server who apologized profusely, and came back with another serving minus the pinenuts. Our favorite was probably the 6th course lamb which was interestingly paired with a tasty and light rice pudding. The duck was also amazing though we did not particularly care for the duck sausage. (There is such a thing as too much duck in one course!) Our experience ended with a candle lit dessert- chocolate dulce de leche for me and a vanilla custard type dessert for the SO- both of which were just the right amount of sweet and not overpowering. Definite pluses: great attentive staff, great food, and compared to other similar eats- really not unreasonable in price. The only con is that the food was a little slow in coming- though after we told our server we had a show to catch, he promised the courses would come out faster and they did. Overall wonderful experience!

Pros: great attentive service, great food, comparably reasonable prices, great ambience

Cons: none!
