Great breakfast!
by lilbuddha2k
I would go here a lot more if it weren't for the wait. Great patio and even better breaksfast selection! Service is good but not great, but the food will bring you back! Every omelet I have had here is great! Highly recommended!
- Pros: Great morning spot!
- Cons: Not open for late night breakfast
Great menu variety, good atmosphere, yummy food
by trojanstace
My wedding party had lunch here the day after our wedding. We all craved yummy comfort food...omelettes, tuna melts, pancakes...and this was the perfect place. The food was good, and the atmosphere comfy and busy. We did have to wait a while, but we were a party of 12 so we expected that. Great place for casual dining and good food.
- Pros: good food, great location
- Cons: busy
Let the tourists eat here
by visa
Am I in an alternative universe? How could such a (at best) medicore place get such great reviews? The only reason I ate my breakfast, was because I was starving. They forgot one essential ingredient: flavor. My boyfriend added salt to his food for the first time in his life...because he was starving too. It's edible at best. Nothing special. Nothing to rave about. And definitely nothing to wait in the very loooonnnng line for.
- Pros: Close to home
- Cons: Food
Great breakfast food at a good price
by santam
Went here for breakfast on a Sunday. I had walked by this place several times and never noticed it until my friend took me here. We only had to wait about 15 mins. The place looks like it greats crowded, so I'd expect to wait. They have a big menu. The lunch items looked great too, but I ordered an omlette and loved it. The portions were huge. I will definately go back.
- Pros: Great location, Good breakfast
- Cons: Wait
Good eats at good prices
by redotterpop
The menu here is pretty extensive and I still haven't ventured beyond the breakfast pages myself. Highly recommend the Blue Hill combo with flaky French toast, I chowed down all that crunchy-blueberry goodness and a neatly butterfly-grilled chicken apple sausage and didn't feel the meal was nearly as heavy as it reads on paper. My companions have been equally satisfied with their dishes (ham & cheese omelette, caprese sandwich) and everything we saw going to other tables looked pretty mouth-watering too. Attentive service, pretty prompt seating on a weekend morning even though it's been packed every time I go, and I also like the warm, comfortable furnishings.
- Pros: giant menu selection, prompt water refilling, friendly service
Once you get a seat, it's a GREAT breakfast - and DON'T MISS THE FLAKY FRENCH TOAST!!!
by pbdawg
So it's a little tough to get a seat on a Saturday or Sunday between all the tourists and locals who know this place. But once you do, the menu delivers some great breakfast classics and several original items. For the healthy at heart, the 4-Grain oatmeal is outstanding and served with plenty of "fixins". Another healthy choice is the Chicken and herbs scramble with the boursin cheese. I recommend getting the boursin cheese on the side as it tends to be like a big slab of very herb-y butter. But great nonetheless. They have plenty of "not so healthy" choices and the selection of sausages would make a southerner blush. However one of the main reasons you should seek out Jinky's is for their flaky french toast. It is awesome...and I don't eat a lot of pancakes, waffles or french toast. The service is always friendly, albeit spread a little thin at times. The crowd is a young, hang-over from the night before meets early yoga/jogger/bike riders who know about the healthy choices. Makes for a great atmosphere to sit back and enjoy your breakfast. I know they serve other meals, but breakfast is why I go to Jinky's
Good Food--LONG Wait!
by talulaknuckles
This place has a really good breakfast menu --in fact, they are only open around breakfast and lunch times. BUT-they do not take reservations and the wait is always long so be prepared with a book or good company!
- Pros: great food, large menu, good prices
- Cons: long wait, busy staff
Surprisingly, the food was average.
by stewarteli
After all the reviews and the Zagat rating, I expected more. Surprisingly, the food was average and the service was below average. Just one more breakfast place. The highly acclaimed Jinky potatoes? Maybe the ones we had were below par, but I've had better at roadside pancake places when traveling. The coffee was good, but we finally got up and got our own refill from the front of the restaurant where they have coffee for people waiting to be seated.
- Pros: Close to Ocean Blvd, Third Street Promenade and not far from the Pier.
- Cons: Average, boring, nothing memorable except poor service.
BEST Breakfast/Brunch Place
by elisehwall
Consistently the most amazing breakfast I have ever tasted! The pumpkin pancakes, which are year round thankfully, melt in your mouth and the turkey bacon is the perfect compliment. If you are in the mood for lunch, the nachos are piled high and the salads are huge!! The service can be slow at times, but I can understand when you have so many tables smooshed inside this little, yellow establishment. Go hungry, but beware of the wait!
- Pros: Food, Location
- Cons: Wait
Sunny Santa Monica space serves a smorgasbord of tasty breakfast bites.

The Scene
The cheerful room buzzes with friendly chatter on the weekends. Animation cels from Disney and Warner Bros. hang on the lemon-yellow walls, and sunlight streams in through enormous windows along the front wall. Pancake flavors range from pumpkin to whole wheat, and French toast is covered in corn flakes. Omelettes and scrambles are stuffed with Jody Maroni's sausage and Chili My Soul gourmet chili. Various salads and sandwiches are offered for lunch.
