Avoid This Place .... Especially Marco !

by BellaBlueBay

After I bought a coupon from TravelZoo for a spa treat at Amadeus I decided to also give them a try for a haircut & color. Marco was recommended as one of their most seasoned stylist, so I gave it a try. Prior to my color (which was done by another stylist), I met Marco briefly and then he disappeared. After the color was completed I had to wait 45-minutes for Marco to arrive, with wet hair nonetheless. Once he arrived, he explained very flippantly that he had taken his car to be detailed in the interim and it took longer than expected. Although I found it incredibly rude, I figured I would let it pass and move on. Then he began regaling me with how fabulous he was, how he’d been the stylist to several celebrities during the awards season. Not sure if this was his way of bragging about himself or his way of making me feel that I should be honored that he was cutting my hair. Really dude, Jose Ebar and Vidal Sasson your not ! Before my haircut was completed, his assistant was already forcing an appointment on me for 6-weeks later. Talk about a hard close on the deal !

Well … fast forward 6 weeks and my appointment were supposed to be last night. Unfortunately I forgot !

After receiving 3 back-to-back calls, including a rude voicemail from Marco’s assistant. I called the salon and was told that I had extremely inconvenienced him in making him wait 30 minutes to be told that I was not going to make my appointment, therefore I would be charged $50 for a non-cancellation fee. Really, where is that stipulated ?

Well following that same logic Marco & Amadeus, if price for being inconvenienced is $1.66 per minute, then you owe me $74.70 for the time I was forced to sit with wet hair waiting for you to show up Marco. My time is just as valuable as yours, I am just not as much of a Diva as you are.

For a salon that has felt the need to run back-to-back TravelZoo and GroupOn promotions, clearly you are not overrun with business. Take a clue from companies that provide good customer service, they don’t need to run these promos, they are able to survive on word of mouth from satisfied customers. Something I assure you will not benefit from when it comes to me. I guarantee I will to tell everyone I know, thru whatever means I have at my disposal, what poor service both Marco and Amadeus provide.

BEST Hair colorist in L.A. - Ask for Engina

by coolpop

I moved to Florida about a year ago and still can't find anyone as good as Engina out here. I get my hair colored with her every chance I get when I am back in L.A. She is truly the best hair colorist I have ever been too. I have always had beautiful hair color and highlights thanks to Engina. People always compliment me on how great my hair looks. I highly recommend her services. She always understands what the client desires and knows how to achieve the best results.

  • Pros: great hair colorist

Great place to go to escape from reality

by BigRoger

Amadeus is a great place to go for massages. When you walk inside Its like you're entering a parallel universe -- peaceful, quiet, healing. I've had several different masseuses, all have been good. My only complaint is that I cant afford to go more often.

  • Pros: Great massages
  • Cons: A bit pricey

Anyone with a certificate & coupon, Make sure you READ this!

by yy621

Ok, I have never had such a need to write a review about any place before. In fact, I have never written a review before about anything. But this spa made me feel like I really have to write one to warn others. Sorry, but I have to give a little background first.

I reserved two treatments for my mom and myself, a massage and a facial. I received a weekly email from the company for a discount for both service. I wanted to treat my mom and didn't want her to know how pricey it would be, so I kinda lied to her and told her that I got a gift certificate from someone. I was going to go to the place to buy a certificate but decided to go on to the Amadeus website first. I was very happy to see that I was able to get an instant certificate online and not have to make a trip there.

I have to say the massage was great but I was a little disappointed with the facial. The facial suppose to last for one hour and 15 minutes. Towards the end of the facial, the beautician left the room for about 10 minutes, "to let me rest" as she said. I have had many facials at different spa, and I have never had anyone that actually leave the room during the service. Most will give a mini massage of arms, legs, and shoulder. So I was a little surprise. I thought it was only mine, but apparently my mom's also did the same thing. So I guess it's something that the beauticians at this spa do.

Now when it comes to checking out, this is the part that annoyed me the most. I gave the cashier the coupons for the service and also the gift certificate. She told me that I cannot use the gift certificate along with the coupons. I was like "what"??? It's a certificate!! She said the coupons said it cannot be used in conjunction with the certificate bought at spaboom. I was like I bought it directly at the Amadeus Spa website. Apparently, when you buy the instant certificate online, I guess the checkout process is actually done by spaboom.

Let me tell you, there's no indication what so ever on their site that said that. I read the terms and conditions before I purchased it. She said because it's "discounted". I paid FULL price for that certificate, not "discounted" like she said. But then she said because Amadeus needs to pay them some kind of charge for that service. What does that have to do with me???? Like I said, I paid full price. I was so upset. The only reason I even went to this spa is because of the coupon. She ended up giving me a two people discount for the services but still not as much as what it should have been with the coupon I bought.

With this experience, I will probably never go back to this spa again. It's a shame cause the massage was great. If not for that, I would definitely only give it a one star. If anyone wants to try out a spa, I will pick Burke Williams over this one for sure. Service and amenities are just wayyyyyy better.

  • Pros: Good Massage
  • Cons: Bad everything else

worst salon in pasadena

by brutusdog

This is a terrible salon, overpriced and elitist. The staff act like you are doing them a favor for paying money for their service. It is a training salon and they expect you to tip the assistants in training who are aloof. i would never go back there or recommend it to anyone. marco is arrogant and the owners and co-workers all know it.

  • Pros: none
  • Cons: too long of wait, overpriced, dirty

Beware!

by revugirl

When i first visited Amadeus on Green street 8 years ago, it was a top notch salon with great service,

clean facility, friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgable staff. On a recent return, I was shocked to find

it run down, dirty with rude personnel. The pedicure room is in shambles and my pedicurist was indifferent.

The products in the lobby look tired and unappealing. I don't know who is running this place now

but they are running it into the ground. Too bad.
