Always reliable
by sufisonic at Citysearch
I live in the Los Feliz Village area and I always set up my hair appt's with the man himself. I've been a regular for some years now and when I decided to cut my long hair for the first time in a long time, I trusted Art with the job.
I literally closed my eyes for the duration of the cut and when I opened them, I was very happy with the work.
Warm, genuine and professional service is always appreciated too; not to mention trust.
Thanks!
- Pros: Friendly, attentive, and professional

Jessie Rae is awesome!!
by marsee999 at Citysearch
I just moved from NYC where I was paying 100+ for a good haircut and had no idea where to go in LA. A friend recommended Jessie at Works of Art and she was fantastic and as of today only charges 60 which is more than reasonable. She is sweet and easy to talk to. She completely understands what her client wants and gives them that plus advice on how to best style the hair once it's cut. She did the coolest, prettiest twisty thing with my hair, and I left feeling confident I could replicate it. Go see her!!
- Pros: Beautiful space, Jessie, bumble and bumble products
- Cons: None I can think of
Jessie is THE BEST!!
by kitkit at Citysearch
I have lived in Los Angeles for about 6 years now and have been to several stylists with results ranging from awful to less awful. I went in last Saturday to see Jessie and THIS IS THE BEST CUT IN L.A. as far as I am concerned. I have wavy, unruly hair and Jessie turned my "mop" into a chic fun do. She spent a great deal of time discussing what I wanted, including looking at pictures and making a plan. She said that the consultation is the most important part of the visit and I have to agree. I explained that I have to have a wash-and-go kind of cut and that is exactly what I got!!! As far as the icing on the cake, I feel I have made a new friend and cannot wait for my next visit. The location is excellent and the people are friendly and warm. Even old ladies (I am 55) deserve to be pampered! My friend told me that I look 10 years younger now!! :-)
Reasonable Prices, Good Cut / Color
by am1975 at Citysearch
I went to Art for a cut and color after reading some of the positive reviews on Citysearch. The process took quite a while since he was working 3 of us at the same time. I like my cut and color and would definitely go back. The prices were more resonable than many other places that I have been. The atmosphere is just "ok" if you are looking for the fancy Beverly Hills vibe this might not be your cup of tea.
- Pros: prices, skill
- Cons: slow service
JESSIE ROCKS!!
by cpleasants at Citysearch
Go to Jessie NOW! She?s amazing! I have been stylist hopping for at least a year since my old stylist moved, and finally, I?m home! I have gone to the most expensive places in LA, and haven?t been able to find anyone who could give me the ?wow? factor I was looking for. Then came sweet, unassuming Jessie at Works of Art, she gave my long hair the best cut it has ever had!! This was a month and a half ago, and I?m still getting compliments. So not only did it look fabulous when I walked out of the salon, it still looks fabulous every day with very minimal effort on my part. I am one of those girls that is generally considered ?cute? ? no one has ever called me ?glamorous,? but since my haircut, several people, independent of each other, have used that magic word! The salon is terrific ? hip and stylish without being pretentious ? the atmosphere is relaxing and friendly ? and the prices are really reasonable. Make an appointment with Jessie at Works of Art today ? unless you?ve got something against looking awesome.
- Pros: Amazing haircut
- Cons: None
GREAT CUT AND COLOR FROM JESSIE!
by jessicajill at Citysearch
What a wonderful experience! I recently got my haircut and colored by Jessie Rae and the results are nothing short of amazing. I hadn't had my hair cut or colored professionally in over two years, it was a terrible mess, and Jessie genuinely cared enough to really evaluate what needed to be done and advise me accordingly. She then executed the best cut and color I have ever had. Seriously! She is a true artist and a professional, I am so so so grateful! (as is my husband!) She is also wonderfully sweet and fun to talk to. The vibe of the entire place is also very friendly and cool. Cool space, too! THANK YOU, JESSIE!
You'll be hooked too.

I had reservations about this place the first few times, simply because... well it's expensive. Maybe not by Beverly Hills standards, but expensive enough for me. That and it takes a really really long time.
Well I've been showing up there every six weeks for over a year now, and there's no end in sight. Why? Because Art is a color genius. My hair has never looked better in my life, and it seems almost effortless for him. Plus he's an awesome stylist too. I get compliments on my hair all the time!.
So be warned" It's an addiction. You might little bit poorer, but you will look amazing.

The best hair cut I've ever had. It washed out well and looks great with very little maintenance. It's been a month and a half since the cut and it looks like it's growing out very well. Very highly recommended.
- Pros: Ambiance, Service
- Cons: Parking
Art is FANTASTIC!
by erica90212 at Citysearch
I have been to Works of Art twice and now I will not go anywhere else. I live on the eastside and had been driving into Beverly Hills to get my hair done because I thought the best salons were all on that side of town - I was wrong! On the recommendation of Citysearch and a random woman with beautifuI hair who I met at a dinner party - I came Art's salon. I have had both cut and color with Art and he is the most talented stylist I have ever been to - I completely trust him. I am pretty particular about my long hair, and he gave me a great cut with lots of movement and swing. His color is the best I have ever seen. He spends so much time with each client and will look at you in the light, consider color samples, take what you want into consideration - but gives his honest expert opinion about what will look great on you. And he is always right!!! He is a true artist with pride in how he makes women look - I was not out of the salon 5 minutes and had received three compliments from strangers about my gorgeous hair! I'm telling you - go see Art (or maybe don't go - because I don't want every other girl in los angeles walking around with hair as pretty as mine... !!!)
