I came to Los Angeles to visit for a few days and discovered Atlacatl Salvadorean Restaurant. Got there on a Saturday around noon. There was a good crowd of people but we got sitted immediately. The server was great and attentive to our needs. We ordered Pupusas which were fantastic. (Very large too!). Also ordered Yuca Frita con Chicharron, it was the best Fried Yuca I've ever tasted, reason enough to go back next time I come to L.A. The drink "Horchata" was delicious, very much like the one they make in El Salvador.

I give this restaurant my thumbs-up.

  • Pros: Great food, good service.
  • Cons: NONE

This place is awesome. The area is Kinda bad, but there is probably no other place i would rather eat at for Salvadorean Food. I'm a Latina Born and raised in LA and Next to eating in my Father's Country (El Salvador) There's no other place like this one. Ive had some really good food here in LA but really picky about Central american Food given my Family Background (i was spoiled with good home cooked meals by abuelita lol) So yeah, everything on the menu is delicious. I now and then crave pupusas and some frijoles negros con crema y queso (black beans with salvi cream and cheese) and this is where you can find it. just make sure you dont go on sundays after church time or lunch. Because it gets really crowded.

  • Pros: Next to Eating in El salvador.. Next best thing....
  • Cons: Like Some other really good restaurants.. it's in the Rampart area but ... its Worth it

I have been going to Atlacatl Restaurant for over 10 years already and still taste like grandma's food.. this restaurant is perfect for any occasion and cheap for those who don't to spend too much money on food.. so if you want to impress your friends or girlfriend I will recomended to you because is autentic salvadorian food. Over all don't forget your cash, because they don't accept credict card.. my only concern is the restroom, it need to be improved other than that is a excellent restaurant serving all those celestial dishes tasting like grandma's food.... HAVE FUN AND ENJOY EATING THERE.

  • Pros: thumbs up
  • Cons: don't forget your cash.. because no credit card accepted

If you want to show some one what Salvadorian cuisine is all about, this is the place to go. The service is always friendly and prompt. The pupusas are made fresh with the best cheese and ingredients that will make your mother jealous! The portions are very generous. They offer a good variety of authentic Salvadorian food and drinks, my only complaint would have to be the location and the parking. Both won't keep me from coming back! Don't forget your cash! "A mi me gustan las pupusas...!"

  • Pros: Great Salvadorian food, Pupusas, Price, Service
  • Cons: No parking, don't except credit cards, must pay for music

This place has a classy salvadorian feel to it. Some celebrities have eaten at this restaurant like Don Omar. I traveled to El Salvador a few months ago and had some pupusas there. Quite tasty. I heard about this place in El Salvador, that's how famous it is.I decided to travel to Los Angeles one day when i was craving the pupusas and the Pan con Pavo. Instant Gratification. It was sooo delicious. I eat there every week to try all their different food but I definitely go back for the pupusas. I recommend this restaurant to everyone who would like to try something new and tasty.

  • Pros: satisfied taste buds and classy ambiance.
  • Cons: parking and sometimes you need to wait in line...but the wait is worth it.

.........

parkeo gratis

  • Pros: comida barata
  • Cons: la limpieza del bano

I've eaten here 4 times already and I love it. The pupusas are delicious - mmm the cheese is good. I get the ones with meat and cheese, and the ones with loroco are really good. Great ambiance - it feels really family friendly. The hosts and waitresses are nice too. I brought some pupusas home and my friends ate them all. Mmm cheesy...

  • Pros: Great pupusas, get the loroco
  • Cons: The weekends get packed

whe it comes to salvadorian food ( pupusas ) i live in reseda in the san fernando valley, and i have to travel

over 20 miles to get to this place and wait because is very busy, but believe me it is worth the wait and the road trip.. the pupusas are just the best in the state of cali.. my family loves this place... actually not the place the food is delicious... even my son who does not like to wait for anything .. as soon as he knows we are going to eat pupusas he even offers to drive , and he is only 15.. .. well to say the least you havent lived until you have tried this pupusas..

The food at the Altacatl is pretty good. The variety is also quite good. While there try the empanadas stuffed with cream (not the bean). It is a traditional dessert made of plantain with a sweet cream like filling inside.

The only problems with this place are the location (not in such a good area), parking (not street parking & their lot is quite small), and it is pretty pricey compared to other pupuserias.

PROS: Good food

CONS: Parking is difficult and some what over priced
