I found my practice at Liberation
by ashley fondrevay at Citysearch
I found my spirituality with the help and guidance of the wonderful people at Liberation. I really wasn't into finding my bliss when I started going there. I was into it for the workout. But the lovely nurturing spirit that infuses everything they do there allowed me the space to find my own entry point into a better a place for myself, and for that I am eternally grateful.
- Pros: A wonderful place to find your bliss
- Cons: honestly, I can't think of any
Liberation Yoga 124 South La Brea Ave, Los Angeles CA, 90036
by Pete Angel at Citysearch
I am 50 yrs old and have been going to yoga for about 6 yrs around Los angeles, at different locations such as local schools and gyms. Those types of classes, are good however they are oriented to large groups and skill levels are loosely oriented, with a limited attention to individuals.
The first time I went to Liberation I was in a level one class, and I was hooked!! All of a sudden I was to learn with detail how to do the poses I was doing for the last several years, with a great almost personal trainer.
Liberation is the best personal classes I have been to
- Pros: Best Yoga I know
- Cons: I know of nothing ngative about Liberation Yoga
A Second Sacred Home!!!
by jkrew at Citysearch
I moved to Los Angeles a little over 3 years ago and my first order of business was to find a yoga studio. I divinely landed at Liberation and have never strayed since. I even took their yoga teacher training course! You just feel the warmth and caring the moment you walk through the door. The classes are fabulous and always exactly what I need. Skilled teachers and the added bonus is that the other yogis that are attracted to this place are just as kind and warm and open as the studio! Truly a gem! I highly recommend.
- Pros: amazing atmosphere, wonderful classes, great prices
- Cons: None in my eyes.
Love this place
by mascara47 at Citysearch
This is my favorite yoga studio I've found in LA. I love the warm, peaceful atmosphere and the non-pretentious teachers. The teachers have a variety of teaching styles so if one doesn't fit with you, try another. They have the best policy regarding packages of classes. You can actually save money on the package and not worry about it expiring before you use it. I definitely have a soft spot in my heart for this place.
- Pros: Great yoga, great attitudes, good deals on packages
- Cons: Parking (for certain class times)
The Yoga Studio To Beat All Others
by Eve Wood at Citysearch
Christine Burke and Gary McCleary, owners of Liberation Yoga, have created a very special oasis in the heart of Los Angeles, which is no easy feat! It is a rare thing indeed to meet people who actually stand by their intentions, mean what they say and live their lives and run their business with integrity and compassion. These folks are it! Not to mention the fact that the teachers are incredible, kind and spiritually aware. Everyone here knows their stuff. This studio has become like a second home to me and I am so very grateful that Liberation exists!
- Pros: Kind, Supportive environment, Everybody here rocks!!!
- Cons: None
The BEST yoga studio in L.A
by Kourtney007 at Citysearch
I absolutely love this studio from top to bottom. It's gorgeous and very comfortable inside. The teachers & staff are some of the best I've ever met because they take the time to give each individual the attention they deserve while providing the class with a powerful message before we jump into action. The prices are reasonable considering all of the attention you receive and they do offer a great unlimited package. The first class is always free so you should definitely come check them out!
- Pros: Soothes your soul while strengthening the body & mind.
- Cons: None that I've experienced
Liberation is wonderful
by Lauren1039 at Citysearch
I took my very first yoga class here, after years of running and injuring my knees. It completely changed my life--I never want to run again! The teachers and staff are wonderful and I always leave there feeling like a different person.
Favorite yoga studio ever

Everything about Liberation is just right. With only two rooms, one indoors and one in the outdoor "garden", the classes feel intimate and personal. Both rooms have a beautiful, spiritual quality to them. It is the absolute antithesis of places like the yoga studio on Larchmont, with their oversized classes and cold feel to the rooms.
Liberation's owners, Christine and Gary, have created a very spiritual and welcoming vibe. The teachers are wonderful and it is always a joy to take classes there. There's no "attitude". They all make everyone from beginners to the most experienced feel welcome.
This is everything the yoga experience is supposed to be. The only downside is that sometimes the space can get a little crowded.....but that's because 18 or so is about all that can fit rather than the huge numbers crammed into classes at other places. Most of the classes I've taken have tended to be 10-12 students which was quite comfortable in the space.
- Pros: Everything the yoga experience should be
- Cons: Small space so sometimes classes get a bit crowded
Not just a studio, it's a home
by Mikey411 at Citysearch
This place doesn't have any of the pretentiousness of some of the studio's around. It's homey, and has a great, comfortable vibe. They offer great specials for KCRW and SAG members and is probably the most affordable studio in the city. The owner, Christine, walks the talk, and leads from her heart and soul. She has created a supportive, real, accessible space to practice yoga. The garden studio is very special. Water damage a few years ago caused the need to redo the inside studio. It still has a great vibe though even though it doesn't have any windows and the flooring is not as nice. Doesn't really matter though, because the spirit of the place permeates even the laminate flooring. :)
- Pros: Great vibe, owner walks the talk, great garden studio
- Cons: laminate floored windowless studio inside
