Calamari is worth the visit
by djnth

Visit Elephant Bar to at least try the Calamari!! There are lots of other reasons too but the Calamari is the best around, in fact good seafood for fairly cheap here. The Nachos really really suck, stay away from them at all costs. Great Happy Hour prices too!!
- Pros: Calamari, Happy Hour
- Cons: Nachos

This is my favorite restaurant. The food is amazing -- you can just close your eyes and pick something off of the menu and it is great. The atmosphere is so much fun. I love that I can take my kids there -- the kids menu is great (it even includes dessert!).
Food isn't that great

I visited here with a bunch of friends visiting the area and the food wasn't that great. I had chicken teriyaki and there was very little sauce and the meat was in cut into very tiny 1/2" squares instead of strips the way I'm used to seeing teriyaki served. My friends got ribs and there was not enough sauce on their ribs either. Their meat was not of good quality. The service was very good, but we won't be going back because the food wasn't up to par.
- Pros: good service
- Cons: bad food

Elephant Bar has a cool decor and layout inside this restaurant. It is a safari scheme...even down to the BIG menus. Pricing is moderate and you receive large food portions. They also have a bar area with booths which is nice if you want to be seated quickly. There usually is a wait since this is a popular restaurant. Parking is o.k....you can't always get parking close to the entrance but it's not that far of a walk anyway.
PROS: Cool atmosphere
CONS:

It's kind of fun to walk in a restaurant and feel like you are on safari. The Elephant Bar is smartly decorated and has good food. The bar has nice booths and their appetizer sampler platter is one of the best things on the menu. It can get kind of crowded, but is a great place for kids or adults.
Something Different But Not Always Consistent

First of all, the food is terrific each and every time. What's inconsistent is the service. Oddly enough, you get much better service when it's busy than when it's not.
This past weekend most of the staff visited with a couple in a nearby booth instead of tending to customers.
Our server and an off-duty server stood 1 foot away from our table and had a complaint session as if we weren't there. Sad....
2/9/09 Update: I was there Friday for lunch and the service was excellent but my food was just okay. I had the cobb salad with blue cheese dressing. If I had been blindfolded and tasted the dressing I would never have guessed "blue cheese". My friend's chicken (from the lite menu) was incredible and I will order that next time.
- Pros: Great Food, Great Variety, Great Prices
- Cons: , Noisy-Cement Floor
