Horrendous treatment for repeat customer
by ItalianWife at Citysearch
After I spoke to Eureka about my broken Enviro Steamer (which I purchased new, thru a dealer on Ebay), the referred me to Boulevard Vacuum for warranty service.
I was thrilled to be referred to Boulevard because I had used them in the past and they are right in the neighborhood.
I took in my unit but forgot my receipt. A few days later I took in my receipt and the OWNER laughed in my face and said that they don't service units purchased thru Ebay. I explained that the Eureka Service Department referred me to Boulevard. The owner said that the Enviro Steamers are basically "disposable" units and asked me how much I paid for it. I said $80. He laughed and said, "yeah, they aren't meant to be durable."
I was in shock at the humiliating way he was speaking to me.
I explained that I gave all the details to Eureka about where and when I purchased it and they told me to bring it in because it's under warranty.
Again he laughed and said, "no, they don't warranty anything covered thru ebay , and I've talked to eureka about this."
I asked him for my unit back and he said "Sure, we haven't done anything to it." (meaning, they didn't even LOOK at it yet to tell me what the problem was!).
I called the dealer that I bought it from. He was horrified by this information because he is a certified eureka dealer who sells a lot of units thru ebay. He implored that I call Eureka again.
I called Eureka. They said this was terrible. They filed a complaint about Boulevard Vacuum and urged me to try another service location.
Please note that I've always been treated very nicely in this store by the staff, including the woman who calls to tell you that your unit is fixed.
It was the OWNER (and I asked if it was his store, he said yes) who treated me so curtly, arrogantly and with such disrespect. I mean really---what kind of owner LAUGHS at a customer like this? Shame on them.
- Pros: super close to my house
- Cons: misinformed owner & arrogance
BOULEVARD VACUUM IS THE BEST!!
by BrainsBenton at Citysearch
My family, who lives in the neighborhood where Boulevard Vacuum is located, has been patronizing Boulevard Vacuum for many years. My parents have been customers there for as long as I can remember, and now that I have my own household I too am a customer. I wouldn't even think of going to another vac shop for sweepers and repairs. Descriptive terms that come to mind include stellar customer service, going the extra mile, absolute integrity, honesty, knowledge of the vacuum cleaner business, and top value. I have neighbors who also trade at Boulevard Vacuum. Take it from a long-term local, family customer -- Boulevard Vac is the best!
- Pros: Cheerful, friendly, knowlegable staff; convenient location; great selection of machines. One of the few remaining "old world" sweeper repair shops - a dying breed.
- Cons: Honestly, none that I can think of!
Great Vacuum Cleaner and Cleaning Supply Store-knowledgable sales people who really care
by sbgoodman at Citysearch
I was referred to Boulevard Vacuum by a friend who has been using their services for many years. I went in looking to buy a new vacuum cleaner for my home. They have many to chose from and the sales person spent almost 40 minutes showing me several different makes and models which he felt best fit my needs. After all the demonstrations, I became interested in the top model of a high end brand of vacuum. The sales person told me that in my particular situation, if I bought the top end unit, I would be paying for features I did not need and probably would not use. He suggested a middle of the line vacuum within the same high end brand of product for much less money that had all the features I needed without any bells and whistles. I took his suggestion and have been using my new vacuum for about 6 weeks now and love it. Imagine a store putting the customer's needs and best interests above more profit!!!!! What a great concept!!! I have since referred a neighbor of mine to Boulevard Vacuum who had a very similar experience. She had an old vacuum she inherited from her mother which was in need of repair. She took it to Boulevard Vacuum with the thought of getting it fixed or buying a new machine. After seeing several vacuums she liked, the sales person told her that the vacuum she already owned, while old, was very high quality, and could be repaired like new for a fraction of the cost of buying one of the new vacuums she was considering. My neighbor was so impressed that the employee not only knew so much about the products he was selling, but went out of his way to try and get her the best value for her money, she bought a new top end vacuum for herself and also had her old vacuum fixed to give to her daughter who just moved into an apartment on the westside. I think this store has been around since the 1940's and now I know why. They really get it. Lots of product choices, fair prices and great, great customer service.
- Pros: lots of product choices (vacuums and all types of cleaning products), fair prices and excellent customer service
- Cons: only street parking available; not open on Sundays
