The Way Bowling Should Be!
by AndyZ
Recently went to Lucky Strike for a friend's 23rd and had a blast!
I haven't been bowling since I was a kid- and was pleasantly surprised to see how Lucky Strike made bowling exciting, trendy and SO MUCH FUN.
The atmosphere is great-- fun people watching and the bar has fabulous drink specials!
I can't wait to go back! I'd recommend Lucky Strike for almost any occasion.
- Pros: exciting atmosphere, great bar
Could be much better!

My spouse and I went to have a drink we live right down the street and all I wanted was a glass of wine. We ordered our first glass bartender was sweet a little out of it but sweet. A clearly very intoxicated man started talking to us and ordered a shot ( they deff should not of served him). After he bought us a shot he was very kind until that last shot really kicked in, he repeatedly asked where his girlfriend was when I said I do not know since we have never meet he poked at me and called my a F-------ing B--ch. The security came over after my other already calmed the guy down and told us we had to leave, we said we were not with him and we stayed as well as they did not kick out the drunk man. He did the same thing again, and my spouse tried to get the drunk man to leave and lead him outside, when the man wouldn't leave we gave up, wanted to go finish the drinks we paid for and leave. They security would then not let us back in, we explained him again what happened and all he could say is that there were no drinks left ( which ours were full ) but the drunk was still inside. He was very rude, guess he thought he was a Hollywood security so he can treat others with disrespect, but I like to remind that he is at Lucky Strike. The atmosphere seemed cool I have been to other Lucky Strikes and this one seemed to be filled with the out of town want to be crowd, a little to much for my taste. Ill stick to my dive bars where the rude drunks are the ones who get kicked out.
- Pros: Close to other things
- Cons: Bad Security
Lucky is Right!!!
by vivaciousdivah
My friend and I stumbled upon Lucky Strikes when some of our plans fell through. We went in near midnight...there was no crowd and no line. We received perfect customer service, went straight to our lane, and had alot of fun being goofy and laughing at our poor scores. When it came close to the close of the bowling alley, we finished our game and went to the register to pay. By this time, they had shut down everything so we had a great time bowling and receiving excellent service and consideration for Free. My experience at Lucky Strikes is not a common one at all so I would say we were Lucky.
- Pros: Ambience, Convenient Garage Parking, Impeccable Service, Good place for after-work or a date
JUST FUN!
by G4Dude
My girlfriend and I often go to Lucky Strike in the afternoons when they aren't busy. We have a few drinks and bowl for hours. "Drunk Bowling!" It's one of our favorite things to do. The company I work for has also rented the place out for events and we had a blast!
- Pros: atmosphere, drinks, bowling
- Cons: the wait on busy nights
BEWARE OF FRAUD AT CASHIER AND BAR
by MiguelitoB
They now say they can only split a lanes bill 2 ways - so if you have a group of people, it's a huge headache... for you - but will gladly accept cash to pay down the bill if you want to leave early. But beware, they pocket that cash and don't remove it from your bill so your friends pay them again.
Beware of the cocktail waitresses too. They'll bring you drinks you didn't order, including a round for them each time, and hope you don't notice. Of course, you could then just go to the bar to order drinks but they even have that rigged: even if you all have a separate tab, they put on an 18% gratuity just because you're in a party! They don't tell you, so of course you end up tipping twice.
Watch your bills people and report suspicious activity to the City Attorney and the IRS. The managers are in on it, so pointing it out to them will only net you an argument.
Hollywood bowling alley transforms an American pastime into a hip, high-tech lounging experience.

In Short
The impeccably shiny and neon-lit interior combines the past with the present. Modern touches like floor-to-ceiling video screens at the end of the 12 lanes mesh well with nostalgic niceties, including the long wooden bar top, which was actually Lane 16 at the Star Lanes. Art, movie clips and music videos flash on-screen as DJs deliver danceable grooves. A fairly priced Americana menu (think crunchy coconut shrimp and chicken skewers) is available in the upper dining area.

Tourist trap with style

This is a huge bar and bowling alley located in the Hollywood and Highland complex, and frankly, it's interesting enough to be fun. The crowd tends to be a bit frat-like, or used-to-be frats, but because it is a bowling alley, it's fun. Yet another great place for people watching and a good drink. I didn't bowl just did the bar thing. The waitresses could have come around more often, though. All in all, a unique scene for a one-time visit.
- Pros: Great bowling alley
- Cons: Average bar
Horrible for Bowling-- Worst Service Imaginable
by chachartis
I went with a girlfriend to Lucky Strike in Hollywood to go bowling, have drinks, the whole bit. We put our name on a list and were told it would be about twenty minutes. After an hour, we asked how the progress was and were told we were really close. Another half hour went by and when we asked this time, the guy told us that, honestly, if we wanted to bowl tonight, we should go somewhere else because he couldn't promise even 'getting us in.' Now, we had been really cool and understanding, but when he said this, we asked to see a manager. We'd waited an hour and a half for a silly lane to bowl, had been told twenty minutes, and now this fellow was telling us we waited for nothing. We explained what happened to the manager, such as he was, and he was apologetic but unhelpful. Sort of, yeah that's too bad but we have large groups and they trump everything-- it's tough luck for you.
We really just wanted a few rounds of bowling and ended up wasting our time. If they had just told us ahead of time it would have been fine, but to make us wait and wait and then admit that we wouldn't ever get a lane-- are you kidding?
- Pros: ummm, they serve beer?
- Cons: everything else
If You've Never Been To Lucky Strike, You Just Don't Know!!!!
by kinguhdacastle
I'm from NorCal, but end up in LA a lot. Almost everytime I ask someone, "Have you been to the Lucky Strike?" their response is, "Oh, the bowling alley...?" Then I feel as if I must act as a promoter, because they are SOOO misinformed. If anyhting, it is one of Hollywood's hottest nightclubs, that just happens to have the coolest bowling lanes I've ever seen, inside! If I go out to LA for a weekend, you can bet that on one of my nights in town, I'm goin to The Lucky Strike!
On my most recent trip - I had dinner there. Wow. First, I felt like I needed more time with the menu, because there were such amazing and tasty-sounding options! I could easily have ordered five things for myself! (I went with three...) We had the most amazing server - Kenny -who was not only totally charming and charismatic, but just a ton of fun! Talk about a guy who loves what he does - it was like being served by a comedian crossed with a model - good times, lots of laughs and plenty of tips for out-of-towners. Then, when the food came - well let's just say, if you thought it was just a bowling alley, you probably expected 'bowling alley food.' But what you get is gourmet restaurant food, including but not limited to Coconut Shrimp, Seared Ahi, Steakhouse Burgers...and for dessert, Kenny recommended the CHOCOLATE INSANITY!!! Enough said...the food is amazing. The service was phenomenal...then when you work your way through the restaurant to the bar - well you're experiencing one of Hollywood's finest! Fun and SeXxXy Bartending Babes, Bowling Lanes with opoutrageous characters at the shoe desk =) We all had a great time.
But that's not all. Before we left, we thanked Kenny and asked him what people do in LA on Sunday nites, and he told us about Lucky Strike's Karaoke! Of course, we came back for that, and WOW - people who sing karaoke in LA are GOOD! I was thoroughly entertained, and that Kenny deserves his own show! They also have comedy on Tuesday nites! What an awesome place! =)
- Pros: Everything! The Food, the FuNn, the Good Lookin Crowd and Staff =)
- Cons: Don't forget to bring in your parking ticket yo get stamped. The difference between validation(2$) and not ($10) is another drink ;)
