chris serrato, never told me i was signing a yealy contract for about 2 thousand dollars, this is fraud and crunch and la fitness are almost nicer, this is a great place to see out of work celebs and pornstars, go to train if you really are rich, or be real and go to 24 hr fitness

Perhaps my favourit gym along with Crunch. Incredible service, helpful and pleasant staff. Facilities are tremendous. Been a member since 2004 and would definitely recommend it.

Spa Spa Spa Spa
by bubblesla at Citysearch
I come in the early AM for my work out before work, like 730-ish.
I noticed that the spa opens at 9am and thought I would reward myself with a massage.
They had a great deal - 9am - $90!
Cant go wrong with that; put me in good spirits for work!
- Pros: Spa Deals
Equinox has a great spa also
by sk1017 at Citysearch
This is a great, upscale gym with the added convenience of a beautiful spa. The view from the spa is amazing. You can see all of L.A. from Sunset Strip. Plus, it's nice to be able to go to the spa after a workout for a relaxing mani/pedi. Jamie is awesome. You can get massages and facials, too.
- Pros: Clean, nice staff, view, spa
- Cons: Pricey
Cozy gym with awesome crowd and amenities
by helloplaya at Citysearch
This gym seems to be smaller compared to Westwood. There are classes I can't take because the Main Studio is really bad as far as the layout having a big pole stuck in the middle. But, when I could get there in time, I would make myself go take classes taught by knowledgeable instructors -- mind you some of them are pretty popular and you will have hard time getting through. In terms of the gay crowd, I don't think I care too much. I just ignore them you are here to work out not to pass judgment to anyone unless they offend me but so far so good. I don't plan on hanging out with them after class. Sorry dear! The crowd here -- gay or straight -- are still in much better shape than other Equinox locations I have found and def. one of the pros. The music instructors play in class is always awesome and really get your heart rate up.
Great Place to Train

The atmosphere is hip, several equipment choices so you never get bored, and lots of great classes for all fitness levels.
- Pros: Good Equipment, Very Clean
- Cons: Busy at certain times
Greatest Gym(s) in LA
by lalivin at Citysearch
Don't listen to any of the bad reviews - I love this gym! After five gyms and eight years in Los Angeles I found a place I love. At first I was concerned that it would be overpriced for what it is, but that isn't the case. Worth every penny so long as you take advantage of everything they have to offer. Knowledgeable and nice staff, wonderful classes, clean and swank locker rooms, and a great atmosphere altogether. I highly recommend Equinox to fitness freaks who don't mind paying a pretty penny in order to avoid out-of-work actors teaching spinning classes on the side to instead get instructors and trainers who are all about the fitness industry as it should be.
- Pros: Staff, classes, atmosphere
- Cons: Class instructors - feel free to ask around because the good ones are amazing and the bad ones are really bad (considering what you're paying)...
Upscale, Zen-inspired gym catering to the fit professional.

The Scene
With its ultra-clean, minimalist décor and its topnotch staff, Equinox raises the bar for chain health clubs. At consistently spacious facilities, the design team continually maximizes natural light and highlights organic architectural quirks. Equipment from industry standards like Cybex and Hammerstrength are paired with high-end machinery--including one specifically designed for the company by Life Fitness. Even the piped-in music (which varies from room to room) has been thoughtfully programmed. Locker rooms are uniformly spotless.
The Workout
The in-house personal-training program--which approaches strength, balance and coordination in a cyclical pattern--is so highly regarded that some independent gyms recognize it in lieu of more established national certifications. Indeed, instructors in the top tier must have academic articles published in their area of expertise. Classes are offered round the clock and range from Spinning and yoga to more unique hybrids incorporating boxing and ballet. Many studios boast sprung floors.
Very Unprofessional
by Jah48 at Citysearch
The most Unprofessional place i have ever been involved with. My job wen i was 16 workin at Tower Records was more professional, than any of the EQUINOX gym's in Los Angeles... Not one of the So called Trainers, are even in shape. Why would you want to be trained by someone who has not a muscle on their body.. The managers at all Equinox L.A, are looking for trainers that can sell sell sell, not really train... These trainers are being told what to teach, and they dont even train that way themselves.. Who needs a clean gym anyway you are there to sweat and stink and sweat, dont be fooled by the clean atmosphere thats wayyyyyy overpriced
- Pros: Clean
- Cons: UNPROFESSIONAL STAFF
Equinox Ad... Lack of Class From A Classy Club
by Vidar at Citysearch
Was thinking about joining this Gym but... I just viewed the latest ad campaign for Equinox Fitness Clubs which was featured in Boston Magazine, and was totally outraged. It features a group of nuns in garter-belts admiring a nearnaked man.
I have worked in the fashion industry and have been a subscriber to various fashion magazines. I understand the point of advertising is to entice the consumer to purchase a product. In the fashion industry, nearnaked models are utilized tremendously because obviously, it sells! While I may not agree with a few of these ads, I understand the concept behind it and can easily turn the page if I don't like what I'm looking at.
However, in this case, I just couldn't look away because it sickened and angered me greatly to see Catholic nuns depicted in such a deplorable manner. I am asking all of you to view the ad and if you are as dismayed and offended as I am, please call Equinox Fitness Headquarters at 212-677-0180 and state your concerns or complaints! I'm hopeful that with your help, this ad will be pulled immediately.
